My coolant is leaking, I have already fixed this once. Why haven't I gotten a recall letter on this?.
I have a 2013 Ford Escape that has had to have a new transmission due to its sudden and unexpected and with no warning failure. 6000 at Ford dealership. Then the problems with coolant started. It would suddenly start overheating, and start stalling . Dropped down to two mile and hour till you limp off the road. Have to constantly check it. Will be fine and then suddenly start leaking again. Replaced coolant cap, coolant overflow tank, new hose for coolant tank, coolant hose that inserts into rear of engine, stand pipe and bypass valve.
While driving, indicators said low coolant. Checked the level and it was fine. Error keeps showing until suddenly my vehicle stopped while in motion and lost all motor power. Dash illuminated with engine overheating and would not accelerate. Pulled over immediately, removed the key from ignition and checked under the hood. Coolant level was fine. Took to auto body shop, they said codes were showing for low coolant/overheating but they did a pressure test and found coolant leaking inside cylinder, which coincides with the huge engine recall and class action lawsuit. Ford will not assist me with this although they acknowledge it is a problem but my VIN isn't on the list. Engine repeating to stall while driving and lose power going from 30mph down to 5 suddenly and without warning in middle of intersection. This is my only vehicle, I'm disabled and Ford CO won't help nor will any dealer.
Engine light came on. Loss of coolant with no visible signs of leaking. Engine shut down after starting the car.
Unknown - engine coolant leaking. Took ownership of car 08/25/2020. October 2020 low coolant indicator came on. Added coolant to resevoir. April 10, 2021 low coolant indicator came on again. Added coolant to resevoir. April 26,2021 low coolant indicator came on again. Added coolant to resevoir. Coolant loss is becoming more frequent. Can't see where the leak is. Found article on recall of engine coolant leak on 2013 Ford Escape. How do I find out if recall applies to my car?.
Driving back home late at night on a busy freeway a mom and 2 kids by them self my car "overheat pull over safely warning came on" so I started to get over light then the went off weird so I turned the heater on it was working I still proceeded to pull off then cold air started blowing I got off pulled into gas station car died. Let it cool down popped hood no coolant after it was cool I added coolant it just poured out on to ground. Checked around checked for loose or missing hoses it looked fine, I saw behind engine you could see were oil had b leaked cause there was oil back there and coolant on top of the oil. Now car won't start had to get it towed. I believe it's a blown head gasket I always check my fluids and I know it should of been fine I checked it 3 days before that night. Now I have no car no warranties just bought it 5 months ago.
Engine is losing coolant, but no leak is visible. Engine is also losing oil but no oil is visible. This vehicle was built in 6/12 which should mean it's in the recall for this exact problem but it's not for some reason.
There is an ongoing leak in the coolant system. Being reported on the last date of coolant addition. This is an issue that is part of a recall on this make, model and year of the vehicle, but the NHTSA system indicates that my vehicle either is not a part of the recall or has been fixed. As stated in the recall, this is a safety issue.
I own a 2013 Ford Escape se with the 1. 6 engine. Driving the vehicle over the last 2 or 3 months the engine coolant seems to be disappearing rather fast. We can take it to the mechanic and he can top off all the fluids, about a week later the add coolant light comes back on and says to stop car immediately due to engine overheat. We get it pulled over and the coolant is just under the min. Line. The car barely has 120,000 miles on it and we are the first and only owners. Ford told us they will not fix it until the recall is issued by the national highway transportation safety administration. This is a $3,000 + job that is not just an easy fix. This car is a fire hazard due to the freeze plugs in the engine now breaking loose and coolant leaking into the cylinders. So when this does fully fail and either catch fire or stall in traffic and kills my wife who do I sue? I have anther question that I am hoping to get answered also. If another person is having the same problem why is their car getting fixed but my VIN is getting skipped in all the recalls. My mechanic is able to see the freeze plug recall on other 2013 models of my car my but my certain VIN number is not able to be taken to the dealership and be fixed.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while reversing out of her driveway, the high temperature and low engine coolant service warning lights illuminated. There was no visual leaks present. The contact purchased coolant to place in the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. North central Ford (1819 n central expy, richardson, TX 75080, (972) 584-1338) was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,800.
I've been having problems with the coolant system and my vehicle has been shutting off while driving. There has been a severe leak near the engine and I don't know what other problems it may have caused. I almost had an accident riding into traffic with the car shutting off in the middle of driving.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking coolant. The vehicle was taken to shults Ford south (900 regis Ave, west mifflin, PA 15236) but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 12v551000 (engine and engine cooling) and stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure stated in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
Loss of coolant approximately every 45 days. No visible signs of leaking and a pressure test did not show any non visible leaks. Yet I have to refill after a low coolant error as stated. A google search found quite a few owners with the same problem on the 2013 model.
Slow coolant leak that is not visible anywhere. Report shows recall for this issue & vehicle was serviced; however, problem still exists.
On my 2013 Ford Escape whenever I pour coolant in it automatically leaks. It has been smoking, overheating and dangerous. I need the car fixed. I scheduled an appointment with autonation Ford margate at 5401 w copans rd, margate, FL 33063 and when I got there they told me it would be a charge to diagnose. Ford should be aware of the issue and ready to fix it for the customer. There has already been a recall for this and need it fixed for free.
My 2013 Ford Escape is losing coolant. It is not leaking on ground. I have had it in 3 times to Ford and local mechanic and they cannot find a leak. They say it is not included in the recall. I need to fill it every couple of months. I bought the car in 2. 5 years ago and it has been an ongoing problem.
Coolant system leaking constantly.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle began to stall while a warning message to pull the vehicle over appeared on the instrument panel. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the vehicle was overheated and that there was no coolant in the reservoir. Upon restart of the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate upon depressing the accelerator pedal. Due to the failure, the contact towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic who confirmed that there was a coolant leak however, the mechanic was unable to determine the source of the leak. Ted russell Ford Lincoln (8551 kingston pike, knoxville, TN 37919) was also notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 12v431000 (engine and engine cooling) which she linked to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
On at least four occasions, vehicle has issued warning of overheating. First two times were in FL as my daughter was leaving home, headed to work. She was going approximately 10 mph. The car stalled on her. The warning states to pull over immediately and stop the car. This happened again on 12/18/20 as my daughter was leaving work. She started the car and immediately the warning sounded, the car sputtered and died completely. The coolant was below the normal range, so we went back two days later with antifreeze (she is now living in ne). We topped off the coolant tank and we were able to drive it home at normal interstate travel approx 5 miles. On 12/24/20, I went out to start the car and the warning happened, again. The engine showed at the hotest level, sputtered and died. There is a recall on this year, make and model for potential engine coolant leak. However, her VIN is not listed under this recall.
Loss of coolant approximately every 45 days. No visible signs of leakinf and a pressure test did not show any non visible leaks. Yet I have to refill after a low coolant error as stated. A google search found quite a few owners with the same problem on the 2013 model.
Vehicle started losing antifreeze no leak was found. Dealership couldn't diagnose the problem. Now the engine is gone. Leaked coolant to the engine Ford should take full responsibility for this issue. I was told by the dealership that they are aware of the issues but Ford doesn't want to take any responsibility.
My car has had many issues with coolant leaking, and very strong burning smells, especially when on a hill, idling, or after running for several minutes. Ford previously recalled certain 2013 and 2014 Ford vehicles equipped with the 1. 6l engine for a similar issue under recall campaigns 12v551 and 17v209, but even though my car has had this recall "fixed", the issues is not taken care of.
My 2013 Ford Escape continues to lose engine coolant. I took my vehicle in to gary smith Ford of fort walton bch FL after researching and finding the vehicle had a recall 13s12. This recall was completed on my vehicle 23-July-14 by autonation Ford of jacksonville FL at the time of repair the vehicle had 42780. I'm not the original owner however the recall was suppose to be the remedy to fix the problem I'm now having. I'm being told I have coolant leaking into the #3 cylinder and will require a engine replacement. Not to mention a possible engine fire. I would like to know what Ford's fix for this is. I'm sure consumers would like to know that they only have limited amount of miles on their engines. My vehicle has a 140k miles and well maintained only to find out it no longer any good because of either a design flaw or just a poor product. I've gone from taking my car in to be serviced for what seemed to be something minor to needing a complete motor replacement and Ford motor CO is aware of this problem. So at this time I have to monitor my coolant levels so my vehicle doesn't overheat and pray the vehicle doesn't catch fire. However if it does catch fire I guess that will just be a issue between me and my insurance company. I really don't understand how Ford motor CO can be allowed to do this.
While driving the car has stalled several times. It also will leak coolant sometimes im able to see the puddle under the car parked but sometimes no puddle which means its leaking into the engine. The instrument cluster also will go haywire and shut down while driving the needles will fall to the bottom shoot to the top and it will have an engine warming and sometimes just shuts off all together even though the car is still mechanically on and running. There are several recalls that all cover these issues im having however my vehicle is not listed in the effected vehicles. These issues happen while driving in any capacity or parked. It has happened on the highway the freeway the side streets while parked while moving slowly. It has become an issue that im worried to deal with because I dont have the funds to fix the car but the car is so unsafe im afraid to drive it. I do have a video of the instrument panel messing up if its needed.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact was concerned about a possible coolant leak in the vehicle however, there was no physical evidence of a coolant leak. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 12v431000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact's wife took the vehicle to southgate Lincoln, llc (16800 fort st, southgate, mi 48195) where the vehicle was inspected and coolant was added. The mechanic found no defects with the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to future Ford Lincoln of roseville (650 automall dr, roseville, CA 95661) and was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 12v551000 (engine and engine cooling) however, upon performing a VIN search, the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
We took the car in for the myriad of recalls in 2018 when it was no longer serving as our primary family vehicle and we could stand to be without it for an extended amount of time. In the last two years it has served as a secondary vehicle, taking short trips to the store or park. On 10/23 we were driving in the Escape on a longer trip (26 miles to drop me off at the airport). He was maneuvering from the airport campus driving towards the on ramp when the dash console indicated the engine temperature was too high and to shut it off immediately. My husband immediately pulled off on the interstate ramp and turned off the car. It never cranked again for him, he replaced the completely empty coolant compartment and it still did not start. He spent hours on the side of the road with our toddler and finally had the car towed to autonation Ford union city. They called on 10/28 and informed us that the issue was under the known Ford recall regarding a coolant leak and that they would order the parts. We have never seen any coolant in our driveway or garage to indicate a leak to us. Ford just called us back today, 11/2 and told us it would cost $1,000 to repair the coolant leak because our local Ford dealership (mike fitzpatrick) addressed the recall in 2018. I shudder to think of the worst case scenario that could have happened with my kids strapped into their carseats if we had been in interstate traffic when the engine overheated. The recall repair has obviously failed and Ford is leaving us in the lurch after indicating to us already that the issue was caused by the known issues.
My engine started overheating and the low coolant light came on and smoke emerged from the engine compartment. Upon inspection there was antifreeze leaking onto the engine from what looked like it was coming from the reservoir area. I took my Ford to firestone and they said it needed a new heater hose. I had the heater hose replaced last week and today I had the same thing happen, engine overheated light came on and smoke emerged. I think my 2013 model Escape sel may have been recalled for this before but the issue was never addressed with the previous owner and I fear for my life and any passengers that may be ridding with me due to the risk of fire in my engine. The vehicle was in motion in both occurrences before and after the heater hose replacement. Both incidents were going appropriately 40 miles per hour on a city street.
I have a 2013 Ford Escape 1. 6 liter. Manufacture date is 02/2013. Apparently slightly earlier manufactured Escapes had a recall for a coolant leak. Ford is telling me this car is out of that manufacture date yet this car is nearly in mint condition except this one thing which seems a little ironic to me. It is leaking coolant significantly and I can't tell where from.
Coolant leaking in engine 5/2017 coolant leaking in engine 10/2017 on both occasions check engine light came on and I took to dealership for repair. I have since discovered a recall for this problem dated 2012 and I never received notice. They told me my VIN wasn't affected. I say it was. Car is dead now due to coolant warping bottom of the block. It is on,y 7yrs old! I have documents from dealership . I don't know how to upload. Can supply ro #'s if needed.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that engine coolant leaked from the vehicle with the engine coolant warning message on the instrument panel. The contact stated that he frequently refilled the coolant due to the failure. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 12v551000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the vehicle was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.
The coolant leak recall does not include my build date but I am having the same issue as what the recall for the loose freeze plug has.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at low speeds the check engine warning indicator light illuminated. Upon opening the hood noticed the coolant reservoir was empty. The contact stated that prior to failure the coolant was low and refilled, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where informed there was no indication of a leak. The contact called koons falls church Ford 1051 e broad st, falls church, va 220441051 but, vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted, the failure mileage was 72,000. Ap.
Vehicle drove about 8 hours straight, then showed a message stating engine fault: service now without any codes or other lights such as the check engine light. The vehicle has not shown any other issue, and the message will disappear and reappear every time you turn off/start the vehicle. Also, vehicle leaks coolant horribly. I've had this fixed twice and the plug will dislodge itself and leak more coolant. I've probably put over 30 gallons of coolant in total in the past 3 years.
Vehicle check engine light came on while driving in town with no other issues or noticeable change in vehicle performance/operation. Had code read at auto parts store and discovered that it was p0303; cylinder #3 misfire detected. Had dealership diagnose, and discovered a crack in the engine block allowing coolant to leak in to #3 cylinder. This was 3 months after dealership troubleshot a coolant issue and charged to replace the coolant pump due to it leaking.
