37 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2012 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

My wife and one month old child were in an accident the other day. She turned left in front of an oncoming vehicle and our 2012 Ford Escape XLT was hit in the front passenger corner. The insurance adjuster just finished determining the damage only to conclude that the vehicle is a total loss. There was over $10,000 in damage to the vehicle before he took it apart to determine how expensive the frame repair would become. The airbags did not deploy. I have notified Ford about this issue and they are "investigating" which I'm sure will lead to absolutely nothing. How can a car receive a catastrophic impact on the front end like that and the airbags not deploy?.

38 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/21/2016

Just bought the vehicle 5 months ago brand new with 14 miles on it and just the other day the airbag light came on and stayed on. Took it back to the dealership to have it serviced and was told that the wires for the airbag was pinched. I was advised that this was done while the vehicle was manufactured. If I had been in an accident I would have had a 50/50 chance of the airbag not deploying.

62 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/18/2014

The dashboard air bag light came on, stayed lit for a few seconds and went off. As time has elapsed, the light comes on more frequently. Because the car only had 45-46,000 miles, I did not believe it was a problem. The light was diagnosed 2 days ago at rod baker Ford, plainfield IL. I was told by robert that when illuminated, the air bags will not deploy because the air bag module has a short. He also stated he has seen and heard of this before but because it has not happened to more owners, Ford does not consider this a candidate for a recall. My car now has 49,000 miles and I'm faced with a $1,000 repair bill for a key safety system. I understand computerized systems may have more problems but do not believe safety systems should be held to the same 3 year/36,000 mile warranty as something like the radio or power windows. Air bags not deploying is, apparently, not as serious as the back window. I will have the repairs made when the part is available. After owning new Ford products for the past 42 years, this will be my last.

66 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/04/2013

Takata recall. Purchased sept 2013. Rear ended twice within the first month of ownership. Airbags did not deploy either time. Bleakley Ford repaired both times. 2015 got recall notice for 'airbags'. Asked service person what was wrong with the airbags. She said 'they had to be turned on". This means, they were turned off when the car left the factory, and when I was rear ended both times. This indicated that Ford knew the airbags were dangerous, and was turning them off in the factory. I found my vehicle on one takata list, so I know it has them. I have requested several time to have my airbags replaced, but they just brush me off. I'm very nervous not knowing if they are going to explode while I'm driving. I live in the south where it is hot and humid. I understand these are exactly the conditions that cause the pressurized gas container to explode, sending shrapnel into the passengers and driver. I feel Ford should be prosecuted for premeditated endangerment of millions of customers. 1st mva: braking when rear ended. 2nd mva: sitting still @ red light when struck from behind. Both speeds calculated @ 45 mph.
