On 7/14/2010 our 2009 Ford Escape was involved in traffic accident in which it was hit in the front end by a fugitive being chased by local police. The car was hit in the front end. The Escape was at a stoplight and not moving, the other vehicle was est. To be going 70mph? the car has in excess of $16,000 in damage, the frame rails bent, axles broke and the front end shifted to one side. None of the airbags deployed. No front or side bags. The car is being repaired at this time. Concerned about the air bags and if they will ever work? the vehicle has only 23kmiles on it. Serviced regularly.

On 4/25/2010 I had a person run an intersection causing me to hit them. My air bags did not go off like they should have. My front bumper and grill were pushed all the way to the engine causing engine damage as well. I have heard of others doing the same thing. I drove a 2003 Ford Escape XLT. It was totaled in the crash. I was wearing my seat belt which was the only thing that keep me safe. I still got hurt with a hurt neck and back.

My airbag does not work for me I weigh 126 they said it can't be fixed it's made for a child I'm not a child. I should of been told this before I bought the Escape. I was lead to believe I had the safety of a passenger airbag. I wouldn't have bought this car if I knew this. I was lied too. I'm not safe.
My 2002 Ford Escape is experiencing its second major airbag problem. The wiring under the seat has now "burnt up" for the second time and I can't afford to have them replaced again to the tune of $450 so I drive without active airbags. The wiring has been replaced once already just 4 months ago but I live in a different state than I did 4 months ago so I'm stuck. In researching this problem online I see that it is a common problem. Shouldn't there be a recall when it involves a safety issue like this?.

We noticed a hissing noise, took it to dealer, was told brake booster, master cylinder, left stabilizer link assy, and pre-tensioner connectors on air bag all need replaced. Can not afford to replace pre-tensioner connectors. Seems unusual to me that all would go out all of a sudden, especially both the booster and master cylinder. To my knowledge we did nothing to contribute to the probs. I may be hard to reach,as I am staying with my father in hermann while he undergoes cancer treatments, but,my wife can be reached at the evening phone # listed.

Recently, I was involved in an accident where the front end of my 2002 Ford Escape was totaled. The airbags never released. Luckily, I had been wearing my seat belt, and did not suffer from an injury. Summary: 1. Event(s) leading to failure: collision with another vehicle 2. Failure: air bags did not release; consequences: none 3. Correction: n/a.
: the contact stated the vehicle was involved in a front end collision and neither frontal air bag deployed. The contact was driving 10-20 mph. The seat belts were in use at the time. There was extensive damage to the vehicle. The driver sustained injuries. There was a police report filed.
I was writing this for my sister who is no longer here. She drove a 2001 Ford Escape going 60 mph down the highway. The people in front of her stopped and she rear ended them. Her car flipped several times and she was ejected. Although the state troopers said she wasn't wearing her seat belt she clearly had a 2" by 4" abrasion on her left shoulder exactly the size and location that her seat belt would have been. The SUV was completely destroyed, not a panel on it wasn't smashed - and yet the airbags didn't go off. It was so bad that I went by the accident and didn't even recognize the car until a police officer called our house and told us about the accident and location. My sister was 22 years old with a husband and a daughter and now she is no longer here. I realize there has been a recall on the seat belt, we got a letter 2 months after the accident even though the recall was 2 years before. Something needs to be done about the airbags though. R. I. : the contact stated while driving 55 mph on dry road conditions at 8:02 pm, the front left corner of the vehicle struck another vehicle, causing the contact to run off the road. The seatbelt was worn and both fog lights and head lamps were illuminated. The bottom portion air bag partially deployed, but the top portion failed to open. The seat belt did not lock, resulting in impact with the steering wheel causing two fractures of the sternum, a hematoma to the left chest, and fractures to the left shoulder, as well as, heavy bruising to the forehead. The vehicle was towed to an impound and a police report was taken. Photographs were taken of the vehicle and the contact was taken to the hospital. The vehicle was towed to the service dealer for repairs and manufacturer was notified. Repairs were made prior to the manufacturer's engineer inspecting the vehicle and the service dealer refused to provide the contact with the defective parts.
