I was in a head on collision where my vehicle went off the road and hit a guard rail head on. My vehicle was totaled but not a single air bag deployed. 38 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/13/2023

The steering wheel came off in my hands. I pushed it back on and went to Ford to get it fixed, they couldn't help me because they had no techs employed that work on my year vehicle, they never told me it was a safety issue and sent me on my way to look for outside mechanic not a Ford specialist. I was driving and the airbag exploded while I was backing up. It caused me injury and could have caused an accident because there was no warning, it suddenly exploded with a loud noise, if this happened when I was on the highway it would have caused severe accident, luckily I was backing the car up when it happened. I didn't hit anything to cause the airbag to deploy. When the steering wheel came off in my hands it was when I was parked, it could have happened when I was driving causing severe injury to myself and those around me. I keep my vehicle maintained by Ford and the steering wheel was never touched or repaired. But when I bought the vehicle brand new from Ford it was missing the sirius satellite radio it was advertised as coming with, when I brought it back to Ford the seller told me they take it out for import reasons and I could buy it from them for $150 plus installation. I don't know if they touched the steering wheel when they removed the sirius radio parts. I have the sirius button on my vehicle and it was advertised with 6 months free sirius, but the dealership said it's common practice in puerto rico for them to remove it because of import fees. I'm the only owner of this vehicle and it was sold to me as brand new. The steering wheel gave me no warning it was about to come off in my hands, it was not loose, it had no play in it, I was parked in my driveway and had just gotten into the car when it came off in my hands. I have the car for inspection and need to alert people of this danger and get the vehicle steering wheel recalled to prevent severe injury to another person.

Failure Date: 04/30/2023

I was in a hit and run, hit on the driver's side rear panel. 2019 Ford Escape. All side and curtain airbags deployed. The side bag in the drivers seat on the driver's has a large tear in it as well as a burn hole around 2 inches in diameter. I'm under the impression airbags are not supposed to rip or burn a large hole. As a result, I was burned on my arm and side. Also, the front driver's side curtain airbag detached immediatly after impact. No recalls for airbags on this year however you do have recalls on the 2018 and 2020 models.

54 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/17/2022

I recently purchased this vehicle, have had it for about 3 to 4 weeks. The vehicle belonged to a gentleman whom deceased and vehicle came from canada. The vehicle was running great and I was happy, however, on easter 2022 my 1yr old daughter and I were leaving the emergency room due to us both being very ill and all of a sudden I was unable to steer the vehicle without having to use my entire body and all my strength. So, I immediately went to the auto part store and purchased steering fluid. Well, come to find out this vehicle has an electric steering system which I never heard of before in my life. Thankfully there was a mechanic on site and he told me about this along with changing a steering fuse??? the new fuse did not fix the issue. This nice man looked up and seen this vehicle has a steering, air bag and few more recalls out there. So, I called a Ford dealership to inquire about getting these recalls taken care of and replaced, she basically told me that they would charge me for the diagnostic test and charge me for any and all recall repairs. I seen that this vehicle has never had any of the recalls taken care of. Now, is there a time frame for replacing recalls, especially if safety related!? thanks shannon bentley.

65 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/10/2021

My power steering just went out a sensor, a recall I have read. My abs just went to the floor for no reason, a part that was not made, also a recall I have read. My ignition is faulty, put another in but it isn't fixed. I have a button to start it. Mechanic fixed this contraception up. Air bags faulty passenger side. The car tells me to check it. All of these are recalls on the 2009 Ford Escape XLT, but they say no recalls. I wanted to get this all fixed. But it looks like this may be my death car. I am not of very much income fixed income so I can't afford to take to dealership to fix. But I have had certified mechanic look at it. I think it's terrible Ford doesn't acknowledge this and send me to a dealership it 80 miles from me. But they would tag this a "lemon" and it is dangerous for my safety and others on the roads if everything goes out completely. I will be dead. I have 74,000 original miles on this Ford Escape. Not many miles for the troubles I have and am experiencing. Thanks for letting me share my opinion and maybe something can be done about this.

66 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/17/2021

Airbag light on/ flashing. Shop says "passenger side seat belt retractor assembly" needs replaced. I switched it with a known working part, didn't fix the issue. Upon further research I found that it is a known issue. Source: [xxx] April 1, 2011 manufacturer communication number: sis-21841 components: air bags, electrical system NHTSA id number: 10038965 manufacturer communication number: sis-21841 summary: comm-trans lund: some 2009-2011 models may have the air bag inicator flashing with a stored trouble code. This is a software problem. I have contacted both local dealerships, as well as Ford corporate. The remedy they all 3 offered: take it in for diagnostics (I'm already fully aware of the issue) which will cost me around $300, then they will tell me if there's even a possibly solution. They were completely unwilling to tell me if they could fix the software issue without first paying for their diagnostic service, even though it's a known and recorded issue, with the NHTSA id number: 10038965 as well as the manufacturer communication number: sis-21841. Upon researching complaints, I have found that I am by far not the only person who has this exact issue. Note: "date of incident" is when I purchased the vehicle, mileage is the mileage at the time of purchase, it has had the light on since before that date and mileage. I tried to resolve this issue then, and recently have been trying again, in hopes that there has been a fix found finally, to no avail.
