39 Body problem of the 2021 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 03/11/2025

Schedule repair maintenance with spirit Ford dundee mi on my 2021 Ford Escape on 1/16/2024 for water leaking in the spare tire compartment which created moisture to collect on interior windows and smell like mold. Spirit Ford said that it was leaking from the rear light and that was replaced. We drove the car as it was fixed and never had a reason to look back in the spare tire compartment as we thought it was fix. Last week [xxx] when the weather was started warming for a day after having snow/rainy days we noticed the car smelling again and looked in spare tire compartment to find that was full of water all the way to the top. So apparently the issue was never fixed correctly. Schedule an appointment for repair maintenance on the vehicle 03/10/2025 for issue again. As of 4pm on 3/10/25 the car had not been looked at. I received a call around 5pm and was told that they ran it through the water testing and did not see anything leaking. On 03/11/2025 around 1:30pm my husband informed that the vehicle repair is now out of warranty and will not be covered and would cost $729 to replace the lift gate seal. I asked why the repair was not covered as it was never repaired correctly the first time when vehicle repair was under warranty and was told well, they replaced the light. But that 1st repair did not fix the water issue now we as the consumer is responsible for the repair when it should have been fixed correctly the first time. If the issue was never fixed the 1st time, how am I to trust them again to fix it for the $729 that I shouldn't have to pay as I stated before should have been fixed. But let's not forget ron basically blamed us for driving it since last repair and implying that is why the water was leaking in the same place. We had to pay for a diagnostic fee of $165 to tell us that it could be the seal. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

51 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/18/2024

Went to open the drivers side left front door and heard a loud clunk, now door isn't opening or shutting properly and we can't use the drivers window either. I've heard of peoples doors falling off while driving because of this and we just bought the car at the end of October. We have yet to get it looked at, but it's not a cheap fix. There were no warnings or signs. I opened it normal like every other time.

55 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Escape

Driver door hinges are loose. Door makes loud cracking noise when opening and closing. It’s very hard to close. My window will not go down either.

56 Body problem of the 2011 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/11/2024

The front subframe on the passenger side is rusted through. I have also heard this part referred to as the engine cradle. I noticed while changing the serpentine belt and had it looked at by a mechanic. Took it to midas and mechanic said front subframe should to be replaced but couldn't get the part. I researched this online and found it to be a common problem. People say it may be from ac water discharge due to occurring mostly on passenger side only. The uploaded images are of my own vehicle. Apparently people say these snap and the car takes a hard right turn when the wheel comes loose. I guess all the people that die don't post anything so the government isn't taking this issue seriously. . . Uploaded images are of my own vehicle. I'm also including youtube links of other people's similar year/make, same model issue as 2011 Ford Escape with the same issue. The first one is apparently by a Ford mechanic, fixing his mom's vehicle because he doesn't want her to die. I'm a combat vet, discovered this on veterans day 2024. Survived combat, but will this faulty vehicle kill me? needs manufacturer recall, myself and many others have no choice but to drive it. Https://youtu. Be/qau0glamfhg?feature=shared https://youtu. 57 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/04/2024

Door hing has a bad weld and causes a loud noise and resistance when closing the driver's door.

58 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/30/2024

Front drivers side door makes loud popping sound when opening or closing. Now it doesn't shut completely. One of the spot welds near the door check has torn through the metal frame, and is causing the window to not roll up or down. When driving over any small bump or uneven road, door cracks loudly, and twice has popped open in transit, then would not close until I pulled over, stopped, and manhandled the door to a close.

59 Body problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/25/2024

Nhtsa recall number 16v643 after 3 attempts in 2 years, it is become evidential that Ford dealers are deliberately not willing to complete this recall for customer, probably because it takes too much time. [xxx]: rear left door latch failed. Call robinson brothers Ford, 11455 airline hwy, baton rouge, la 70816, was told there is no parts, so I had to replace it by myself using part bought from amazon. 1st attempt: 23-Feb-2023 to 27-Feb-2023 at robinson brothers Ford, 11455 airline hwy, baton rouge, la 70816 called weeks in advance in order to complete all recalls, and called few days earlier to confirm door latch, and was told they have spare parts so I left the car there. All recalls were completed except 16v643, and I was told they had no spare parts by shop representative. Register cell phone number with them for spare parts update and never receive any update till now. 20-oct-2024: front left door latch failed. 2nd attempt: on 21-oct-2024 call autonation Ford katy, 20777 katy fwy, katy, TX 77450, the lady (christina) told me they have no spare parts. 22-oct-2024: once again, I replace the door latch by myself using spare parts bought from amazon. 3rd attempt: on 23-oct-2024: I drove by autonation Ford katy, 20777 katy fwy, katy, TX 77450, the exact the same shop I called 2 days ago, the service representative (austin) check the inventory, found 1 set of spare parts, and promised me recall can be completed in 24 to 48 hours. When I pick up the car 50 hours later, the job is not even started for one door. As such, I officially file this claim to urge NHTSA to investigate what is the percentage completion for this recall for Ford? it takes me 2-3 hours to replace 1 door latch, that may be takes too time for dealer and therefore they chose to put the safety of customer at the lowest priority, and bet on customer running out of patience to replace by themselves, just like I have done, twice. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

61 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Escape

The headliner has come loose and is drooping. So when I open it my back window is covered completely and I can’t see behind me in my windshield mirror. I think this is a big safety hazard.

62 Body problem of the 2018 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/16/2024

After hurricane milton my car had 2 in of water in it. I contacted my insurance company they looked at the car said it needed to be dried out and I needed to take it to the dealership where I purchased it. Took my vehicle to kisselback Ford and the diagnosis states looks like the seam sealer under the roof moldings is falling off the body causing water to come into the body panels from the roof has to go to body shop we can't do these repairs. Took the vehicle to two collision centers they stated this was a factory defect and they will not touch my car. Contacted Ford corporate I was told to take the vehicle to greenway Ford upon taking my vehicle to greenway Ford they are in agreement with the other dealership and stated the roof panel needs to be repaired the headliner needs to be replaced the right and left roof molding needs to be replaced the seam sealer in the roof is damaged causing leakage into the panels. All interior parts have corrosion need a teardown to see how far the water damage is. Ford corporate will not do anything to repair, or replace my vehicle. Stated because I am out of the 3-year lemon law there was nothing they could do. This is not something that happened overnight this is something that has been going on for years and apparently finally separated causing water to intrude into my vehicle every time it rains. This is affecting my backup camera my radio which is telling me the wiring is wet. I only have 54,000 miles on my car Ford has already replaced the engine due to factory defect replaced by headlights again due to factory defect which my headlights are still losing their clear coat. I'm still paying for this car it smells of mildew and the mildew is starting to show up on the interior. On antibiotics for the past 3 months. When I hit the brakes on my car it sounds like a wave of water is rushing forward. It's not right that Ford sold me a defective car that I'm still paying for. No warning, 2 firefighters have said car could catch fire.

64 Body problem of the 2021 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

Problem description component/system failed: the driver-side front door has been inoperable since April 2024, unable to open or close, linked to Ford’s customer satisfaction program 23b56 (faulty door welds/hinges). Vehicle is available for inspection. Safety risk: I must climb over the passenger seat to enter/exit, risking injury, especially in emergencies. My disabled veteran father, who shares the car, cannot drive it due to inaccessibility, severely limiting his mobility. An inoperable door could delay evacuation, endangering us both. Confirmed by dealer: empire Ford, new bedford, MA, confirmed the issue in October 2024, tying it to 23b56. They quoted 2-3 weeks for parts but haven’t repaired it as of April 10, 2025. Inspections: only empire Ford inspected it in October 2024. They admitted to marking the work order as done without repairs, restarting the process. No other inspections by Ford, police, or insurers occurred. Symptoms/warnings: no warning lights or messages. Around April 2024, the door became hard to open/close, then failed completely, remaining stuck closed. No prior noises or partial issues noted. Details: in October 2024, I took my Escape to empire Ford for the 23b56 repair. They said parts would take 2-3 weeks. After months without updates, I learned they falsely marked the job complete, forcing a restart. Six months later, the door is still broken, and they only say parts are “ordered,” offering no timeline. This aligns with NHTSA’s pe23013 investigation into Escape door welds. The delay makes the car unsafe and unusable for my father. I request NHTSA’s help to push Ford for a prompt fix or loaner vehicle.

65 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/24/2024

The lift gate fills with water when it rains and I worry that it can interfere with the backup camera.

67 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/14/2024

Door making a hoping noise window won't go down. Unwelded part of the door.

68 Body problem of the 2021 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/13/2024

Bracket that holds the check arm device in the door broke loose. It is not properly welded to the inside of the doors. Left stranded because the door could not be shut. Other 2021 Ford Escapes are having the same issues. There was no warning to indicate a problem with the door.

69 Body problem of the 2021 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/02/2024

A cracking sound is heard when the door is opened and closed.

70 Body problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/31/2024

The subframe is rusted. There is an actual hole in the subframe. Yes, as of today, it is available for inspection. It has been put on a lift and looked at by an independent service center, which deemed it unsafe to drive. Because of this costly issue, the vehicle has been parked and not driven, leaving me without transportation as I cannot afford to replace an entire subframe as patching doesn’t seem to be an option due to the amount of rust.
