I have had my Escape for about 1yr. And for the past 6 months I have been getting a code p0234 which was read at a local auto zone which reads wastegate solenoid this is happening to me and many many other people around the world the solenoid itself keeps going bad and causing issues such as acceleration problems, losing power and dying down while driving even on an interstate and highways and sometimes it'll do it 2 or 3 times in a row before finally running and getting me where I need to go such as work or my child's school or doctor appointments or to the store. This issue should've been resolved by Ford making it so the wastegate can keep up with the turbocharge in the Ford Escape 1. 6l. Other people used their power train warranties to have it fixed just to have to pay out of pocket for another one. It is a very serious ongoing issue with not just my car but others and the part is $200 each time it needs replaced and it is literally never the hoses it's the solenoid giving too much boost over 4psi which is absolutely ridiculous these cars need recalled the wastegate isn't compatible to keep up with the turbocharge itself in the car and if not fixed then people have to replace the turbo itself or buy a new engine or replace head gaskets and it could cause a serious wreck if someone is driving going 70mph on a highway and then boom your car died all because of a solenoid that doesn't work for the 2013 Ford Escape because Ford doesn't want to deal with the fact these cars are not road material and they are not safe for anyone to drive. They sincerely need recalled andnobody should have to pay for something that should've been dealt with before being sent out to the world. I really hope you consider investigating and getting these cars recalled. It'll save everyone time, effort, and money. I have proof of all the forums I could find too of the same issues I am having.

I've had multiple problems with this vehicle. 1st problem is when I came to a stop at the set of stop lights in gloucester MA. The engine shut off. At that point I have to restart the car. It has happened on multiple occasions. It didn't happen at the dealership so was told it would have to happen when the had the car. 2nd problem, the engine light came on. The dealership said it just needed to be reset, 2 weeks later the engine light returned. Brought to dealership this time the dealership said the engine needed to be replaced due to coolant that was getting into the motor. I looked up problems with the 2017 Ford Escape and there were a lot of complaints about the engines needing to be replaced because of coolant getting into the motor or basically the head gasket had failed and is a known problem with the motor. They had my car for 4 weeks and had to pick up a rental car. I had to call the dealership to see if my car was finished. Because they never called. When I called I found out the car would be done in 2 days. When I received the car back it wasn't running the same as when I purchased it, plus it now pulls to the right while driving. 3rd, the clock in vehicle keeps changing time. Asked the dealership if there was a problem with the computer. They said no. 12/4/2019 2 weeks after getting car back, now it won't start and is dead in my driveway .

Coolant issues, overheating and vehicle stopping completely, this occurred several times; head gasket replaced, turbo replaced, spark plugs coming out on their own, wheel bearing and sensor gone, touch screen gone.
I was traveling west on I-10 from tallahassee, FL intending to go to pensacola, FL. I was driving the 70 mph posted speed limit. As I neared exit 192 @ quincy, FL I heard a noise from under the hood that sounded like a clunk. The car's engine dropped below 1000 rpm and gradually slowed down. I pulled off to the emergency lane. The Escape was towed to havana Ford in havana, FL on sat. , Nov. 2, 2013. The service dept. Opened Monday and I was informed that the throttle body broke. I had the throttle body and gasket replaced.

. Every morning I start the car it hesitates to stay started,(idealing) sometimes the car does shut off and I have to restart the car. I start out and when I go to brake the car hesitates and want to shut off at the same time I lose my brakes (they lock up and will not stop. . . ) the car also sometimes smell hot after driving. Once the car has been driven for a while the brakes seem to work fine but there is still a hot smell when we shut the car off. I have had this in for service more then once and they had me do certain services on the car and this still has not fixed the problem, I took back in after spending enough money and doing the service they suggested the mechanics kept it for a few days and thought they fixed the problem, but here we are again(1 yr later) and I'm back to where we started. I have all the paperwork to what was done with the car for this problem. . Service was performed as follows a. Replace intake gaskets, spark plugs, dpfe sensor. B. Fuel filter. C. Perform bg professional fuel injection cleaning service. The second time in for service- a. 100 diag mass air flow meter=rec. Tune up = filters advise on pendg. Codes 0171-0174=poss. Intake leek =replace maf sensor=clear codes. This was everything they suggested we do and now as its cold I'm having the same problem as I did last February. ($2000. 00 later) I would really like to have the situation fixed before I can't stop the next time. Thank you for your time. . . Mrs. Leslie a. Weary.
