36 Engine Stall problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/31/2018

I have already submitted one statement. I am just wondering why my vehicle wasn't included on the recalls listed below when it sounds like the exact kind of problem I have been having with my vehicle. When started it doesn't take off and get up to speed without hesitation and stalling. And when I do get up to speed it loses power at the most inopportune time I have been in several near accidents due to the engine not running properly. The codes that have been coming up. And the check engine suggestions. Have been tested by four different mechanics none of which could fall find a problem till recently. And I'm being told that the turbo boost code is been caused by faulty wiring which is happened to be totally replaced. As per my other statement I am having it repaired tomorrow but not being reimbursed. And if other 2013 Ford Escape drivers have had this issue there may be some unrecorded desk due to the engine stalling on the highway and the inconsistent running up the engine when these codes pop up. The codes are also sporadic as I said in my other statement. One time you turn the car on and have a problem shut it off and the next time the codes are cleared. I have been living with this daily for a month.

45 Engine Stall problem of the 2017 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/24/2017

The 2. 0 ecoboost engine in my 2017 Escape has stalled twice at low speeds. On 6/18/17 while backing out of my driveway, the vehicle moved approximately six feet and the engine stalled in reverse. On 6/24/17 the Escape stalled in a shopping center parking lot. The SUV was in drive, moved about ten feet, and stalled. After both incidents, I took the Escape to Ford dealers for the mechanics to look for the cause of the stalling. The dealerships can not find the problem and my vehicle is not fixed. Thankfully stalling hasn't occurred at highway speeds, but if it does I dread the thought of trying to bring the vehicle under control without any power steering or brakes. There have been no accidents or injuries as of today.

Has been into dealer for service for two months, for the first 7 weeks they "could not fix it because they could not find an error code". After I drove it in a circle around the dealer for hours I was able to show them the problem and they obtained an error code, 'solenoid'. Ford says "maybe just replace whole transmission because we're not sure of the problem".

48 Engine Stall problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/03/2017

Engine stalling. Over the last year I have been having problems with my Ford Escape randomly stalling. I have had it at 2 different mechanics and both have been unable to figure out the cause. I did some online research and others has similar issues. They stated the cause was the throttle body. I had that replaced. I am having less of these episodes, but stalling is still occurring occasionally. The stalling always occurs when I am slowing down to stop at either a stop sign or traffic light.

53 Engine Stall problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/11/2017

Two problems. 1. ) remote start not working properly. It shuts itself off within 30seconds due to corrosion on negative terminal wiring to battery. Unknown cause why the corrosion would occur on my battery. I take care of my car and it is in the garage when not in use. 2. ) engine suddenly stopped while driving. Unknown reason. Told that I need to have a software upgrade done to the computer system on my car, but not told if this would fix the stalling 100%. Unclear why I would need to pay for an upgrade so my engine does not stall when driving. The car should work and drive without stalling. If I need a upgrade to the computer engine software so the car will not stall then I would expect this to be covered by Ford on a recall. This was very scary and dangerous to have your car suddenly stop working while driving without any prior warning. I did not get any signals that the engine was going to stop, it just stopped suddenly while driving on a city street after leaving work.

57 Engine Stall problem of the 2011 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/02/2016

While driving my car I slowed down to make a turn and the engine suddenly stopped. No warning, shaking or decrease in speed. It just stopped I tried restarting but it wouldnt start until 10mins later. I was able to drive it to the dealership with no problems or lights on the dash but after I left (they couldn't see the car until 4 days later) leaving the lot the engine seemed to stall off and on for the 5 mile trip so I would put it in neutral when I would come to a light and coast to a stop, then restart. The wrench light came on and later the engine light. Also the rpm 's on the dash would go up to 4-5 but my engine speed would be 40 mph this scared me so bad, I parked the car until the appointment at the dearlership when I took it to the dealership they did a diagnostic but know codes came up. They did fix the throttle.

60 Engine Stall problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/10/2016

Correspondence with flood Ford of east greenwich, ri michael whyte (Ford service adviser), crash risk with 2013 Ford Escape (stalling while driving and also lack of being able to accelerate vehicle while engine is running). Vehicle was brought to 2 different Ford dealers for same problem and was told that they could diagnose and/or replicate problem. This issue and circumstance has been reported numerous times upon goggle searches (please see below). I contacted the Ford customer relationship center again today to document the situation surrounding our vehicle (case # 8980601). Please note that I had contacted them originally on February 29th (case #8916920) and they referred me to the flood dealership after we had brought the vehicle to the tasca dealership on February 28th and 29th. They tried to contact the service department at flood Ford at 4:00pm today but were not able to get through. I also contacted the consumers for auto reliability and safety and they responded back with the following message and strongly emphasized not to drive the vehicle because of the potential crash risk. I am also in the process of reporting the defect to the national highway traffic safety administration and have also contacted the wjar consumer advocate department surrounding our dilemma to see if they can help us as well. Hopefully the experts at Ford can help provide additional insights as to how to best address this situation. . Read more...

61 Engine Stall problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

My Ford Escape 2013 stalls while driving at low speeds, like a parking lot, at a stop sign. It has done it now 4 times in 2016. The engine just loses power and stalls. The red oil lamp and battery lamp come on. No system check messages show. It will start sometimes and stall again immediately, sometimes it starts and then is ok for the remainder of the trip. The Ford dealer couldn't find the problem when they checked it right after an incident. Offered to drive it till they find the problem and give me loaner till then. ???.

My 2011 Ford Escape while driving at 65 mph on the freeway in merging traffic the engine stalls leaving me with no power to control my speed. As my car quickly reduces speed on a major freeway I attempt to get over to the shoulder out of harm¿s way, his has happened to me twice. So I call the service and they tell me it¿s a problem with electronic throttle body but when I take the car to my dealer for service. They told me sorry after two key cycles the code disappears so there is nothing they can do. So I have to drive this unsafe car and wait for it to happen again before I can bring it in.

70 Engine Stall problem of the 2012 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/14/2015

This is a continuous issue first noticed a few months ago when I almost caused an accident on valentine's day because of my car. I was on a ramp about to get into traffic. The highway speed is 75mph and it was busy. I pushed the gas pedal to enter the highway but my car just stood there for about 3 seconds before it finally registered (that I pushed the gas pedal) and sped up really fast. This caused me to cut off the driver on the inside lane because my car didn't speed up as it was supposed to. I drive to work everyday on the highway and this happens about 4 times a week. The other problem, which I tried to dismiss as my imagination because the car was just purchased last year with only 3900 miles on it, is when driving in town about 30-35 mph, the engine seems to stall on and off for a couple of seconds, sort of like when speeding up and suddenly let go of the gas, as if there's no power in the engine.
