8 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 03/05/2020

My mother was driving the vehicle today straight on a street and she lost control of the vehicle and almost hit another vehicle (only by gods grace she was spared from a deadly accident). I went to look at the vehicle at her home and found out the right lower control arm where it is bolted to the front suspension cross member was severely fatigued that was corroded badly broke off unexpectedly without any warning at all. I then researched this issue afterwards and there were several complaints on line of vehicle about this same safety issue. I may be seeking legal counsel from todd tracy law firm of dallas TX. For this possibly deadly and severe defect that was not properly addressed from Ford and NHTSA to consumers and is a hidden ticking time bomb putting people in danger. Why have you not notified people of this issue? I cannot be the first and only one with this issue.

14 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2005 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/16/2019

While driving her 2005 Ford ecape after coming to an abrupt stop at a traffic light. My daughter found steering extremely difficult, with vehicle pulling extremely to the right then swerving into the other lane to the left upon trying to correct for the pull. She pulled the car over and found that with the steering wheel straight ahead the right front wheel was pointing outward toward the curb with the top of the wheel tilted inward towards the engine. The vehicle was undrivable and was towed home. Visual inspection by an experienced mechanic found that extreme corrosion of the subframe at the lower control arm front mounting point had caused the subframe to seperate and allow the lower control arm to bend outwards and cause extreme misalignment.

17 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2003 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/18/2019

The left front control arm broke through the subframe, causing a very expensive repair. My father was driving it at the time. When he went to accelerate on a state hi way it pulled very hard to the left into oncoming traffic, nearly ending in a bad way. I subsequently test drove it and discovered the problem. I immediately checked for any recall information and found this specific information. My father had taken it to his local Ford dealership and they said it was ok as of 2014. I noticed only some models were included in the 2014 recall. The subframe in the left front is soft and rotted out, while the right front and the rear is in good condition. I contacted Ford directly and found no relief or even a satisfactory explanation why my father's vehicle was not included. I'm quite appalled with Ford motor company's lame explanation of how vehicle doesn't qualify for reimbursement. Without being overly dramatic, my father or I could have lost our lives to to this rare type of damage. This Escape has been well taken care of and is in good condition for a 2003 from the rust belt. I've owned dozens of vehicles, as has my whole family, we've never seen this type of problem and it's not subject to a recall. I am hoping others have complained as well in hopes of sparking an expanded recall. Thank you for your time. I included a couple of general pictures for now as the Escape is at a repair shop. 2003 XLT v6 3. 0 with available full 4x4 capability. Approximately 165,000 miles. Completed by alexander schultz, son of gerald schultz.

Lower control arm separated from sub frame. High corrosion area. Separated at a speed of about 65 mph going over highway bridge. Right front tire tipped out and sent vehicle into a uncontrolled swerve to the left and right. Ford's recall 14s02 cross brace patch was installed but still almost caused a major crash. I don't believe the inspection by Ford was done properly when they installed the brace. If they had they would be replacing the sub-frame also.

Front subframe (cradle) rusted through directly adjacent to the front mounting location for the lower control arm. Have only owned the vehicle for several months. Purchased from pallotta Ford in wooster, ohio. Vehicle was being driven when the failure occurred. Fortunately, it was at low speed as the right front wheel jammed into the rear of the wheel well and brought the vehicle to an abrupt halt. 34 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2003 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/06/2017

My son was driving this vehicle when the front control arm snapped off from the front subframe! thankfully, he did not get killed or injured. The vehicle was towed to a local garage who informed me that Ford recall # 14s02 applies to this very condition. Upon calling Ford's customer assist line, I was completely shut down. I told the rep that I need a tow since the car was not driveable. She told me that Ford will not pay for a tow or any consequential damages. This makes no sense to me. Obviously, Ford has acknowledged a problem. I don't think it is fair for them to take no responsibility & leave the consumer footing the bill. Please look into this when you get a chance. Thank you.

35 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2002 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/18/2017

I was driving my 2002 Ford Escape in northeastern ohio when I lost control of my vehicle. I had it towed to a local mechanic who told me the power control arm broke away from the subframe. As a woman I immediately looked it up because I did not know what that even was until I found a recall from Ford that didn't mean crap for me but that Ford won't pay for their mess of a vehicle! I'm just happy I didn't crash into a nearby car and when the truck broke down! driving down a city street approximately 35mph.
