39 Tire problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Own a Ford Escape 2008 with 43,000 miles and original continental tires. At my last oil change I requested a tire rotation an found out that one tire was defective (failure of one steel band) and was causing significant noise and vibration at 60 mph and above. Tire thread gage indicated 10/32". It seems the tire has failed to perform when significant life was still available.

41 Tire problem of the 2007 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/23/2010

2007 Ford Escape tire stems are fractured, the rubber is not holding up. I have replaced one and noticed a second tire loosing pressure. Upon inspecting it and the remaining stems they all require replacing. This has the potential of creating a severe accident. I feel these should be recalled, now. My local dealer mentioned that Ford did send a postcard out telling owners to look at their tire stems. However, I did not receive one.

42 Tire problem of the 2003 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/19/2009

In August, 2009 I purchased a 2003 Ford Escape XLT from economy Honda in chattanooga, TN. The vehicle has contitec p235/70r16 tires on it. A routine overall vehicle inspection was done at that time. On Thursday, November 19 I took my vehicle to a local lube shop to have the oil changed and when the attendant put air in the tires, he noticed cracks and tread was pulling away from all four tires and advised me not to drive too far before I replaced them (I had plans to go to nc this weekend). The following morning I took the vehicle to a continental tire dealer who verified the condition of the tires and recommended immediate replacement, which I did for $483. 00. I see several recalls of contitec tires on your website for various reasons. Could there have been a recall on these tires. The car only had a little over 45,000 miles on it when I bought it. It especially upsets me to know my grandson has been in this vehicle with me riding on potentially dangerous tire. Thanks. Tahona tate.

43 Tire problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

2008 Ford Escape XLT v6 33,000 miles continental conitrac tires wearing very uneven causing excessive road noise. Company will not stand behind their product even though there is still tread left on tire and they have been rotated 4 times. Have contacted twice, and they have offered no assistance.

44 Tire problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/28/2008

June 2008 I purchased a used 2008 Ford Escape. The tires are the same continental tires that were on there when I bought it. The insides of all 4 tires are wearing faster than the rest of the tread. Sounds like I have "mud" tires/aggressive tread. When the noise first started Nov. 2008 I thought it sounded like a wheel bearing, but those checked out fine. It wasn't until July 2009 that I figured out it was the tires making noise. I am guessing it is a problem with the tires as no mechanical problem can be found.

45 Tire problem of the 2006 Ford Escape

46 Tire problem of the 2002 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/21/2008

We drive Ford Escape 2002. In January 2006 we bought 4 new tires from firestone p23570r16 with 60,000. 00miles guarantee. We have driven only 30,000 on this fires. We noticed very often air leaking from these tires and we decided to use the guarantee and go to firestone service for repair. The tires ,all four, have cracks al over the tire with next white color layer visible. We are afraid to use the car. When we went to the service they told us that the reason of this kind of damage is weather. Joke. None of the cars driving around has the same problem and we live on the same earth and the weather is the same too. We hardly believed them and even conversation with people from the main office didn't help. They fix one tire, checked the rest and they still are sure that these tires are ok and safe to drive. But we still have the cracks on the tires and we are waiting for moment when they blow out. We are not going to pay for replacement even 1$ ,specially because this is fire stone and also because we found are tire on recall list. By the way for that recall they also have their own explanation of course. We don't have to add that they was very not nice during the service and ignoring. Please give us same idea about our rights, specially that nothing happen yet and me,my wife and my daughters are alive.

47 Tire problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/04/2008

Special ordered a 2008 Ford Escape limited. Kept hearing slight noise sounded like wheel bearings to me. Rotated tires at 7500 miles as per my owners manual . Took to dealership at 10,839 miles. They said they had not rotated my tires so no service. Noise so loud now cannot hear radio. Cupping on inside of all tires. Took back to dealership. They said I cannot rotate my own tires and keep my warranty. So my warranty claim is denied.

48 Tire problem of the 2007 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/23/2008

I bought a Ford Escape 2007. . Just drive 11,000 mile and a year. The front tire is leak and have to replaced. Unbelievable.

49 Tire problem of the 2002 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/03/2008

I purchased (4) tires about one year ago from a bridgestone tire dealership. The tires are: 062065 dueler h/l d683 owl p225/70r15 100s. Late April '08, as I was washing the tires I noticed "cracks" on the sides, around and in between the treads of all four tires. On may 3, I took the car to the bridgestone dealer and filed the complaint that I believe the tires are now unsafe and requested replacement. The service manager (dan hilborn) promised to investigate with firestone and get back with me. On may 23, 2008, dan called me and said that the replacement tires are in and I can bring in my car to replace the tires. Same day, I took my car in and then dan tells me that the same tires are no longer instock and that I need to pay an additional $288. 54 for upgraded tires to replace my defective tires. Dan also stated that the defective tires were from an "old stock" that were actually sold as new to move them. Dan referred me to "bill" from bridgestone firestone technical service dept in woodbridge, ill. Bill also refused to replace my defective tires at no cost to me. He stated that these tires are safe to drive on them with cracks between and around the tire treads. Bill stated that there may be safety concern if you "can drive a head of a ball point pen in the cracks"!!! I believe these tires are defective and should be recalled, as I believe that an average consumer would not notice these cracks and will continue to drive on them which is a safety risk to the lives of our people. I happened to notice the cracks in tires because of my background in quality control in the automotive industry. Your prompt attention to this potentially serious safety situation is most appreciated. Thank you.

50 Tire problem of the 2007 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/30/2007

Bought a 2007 Ford edge in may 2007 with continental tires cross contact lx 24560r18 in a option package with a 17 inch spare. Very shortly after the purchase had car at dealer for vibration. Dealer balanced all 4 tires. Went back second time for tire vibration mechanic and dealer claimed it was normal tire operation. At 40 mph slight vibration as speed is increased 70 mph it was more prevalent. It was not a smooth riding tire never felt this with any other vehicle we have purchased. Feel this could be a dangerous problem with continental reputation and only 300 miles on vehicle at that time and now close to 1000 miles now. Need NHTSA to investigate this tire because of dealers and Fords neglect. Do not know if it is the tires or the vehicle. With Ford's problem with their tires in the past and with the injuries and deaths that had occurred I think this is a very serious problem that needs to be looked at by NHTSA and Ford. Rode in another Ford edge with the same tires with the owner of the dealership same problem with vibration but not as bad as my personal vehicle. Owner of dealership acknowledged the problem. Owner of dealership made a call to representative of Ford for our area waiting for a date to meet with him and discuss this problem as of today. Trying to file this complaint my tire name and size and vehicle name was not on your list so I just picked one so I could send this to you again my tire is continental cross contact lx 24560r18 on a 2007 Ford edge. Thank you.

Ford Escape limited 2005 with 3000km. Steering wheel vibration at 80 km per hour. Dealership hasn't been able to correct the problem and don't know what the problem is. I was told to just live with it. I feel this is unacceptable and that it is a safety hazard. I test drove another Escape and the same problem was present. 54 Tire problem of the 2001 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/28/2004

I have had three different tires exchanged on my vehicle since the purchase date of Feb. 7 2001. I have taken my car in every 5000 miles for service and everytime I have left the dealership the car pulls immediately to the right. I have gone back to the dealership eveytime and voiced my complaint. At 15000 miles the tire manager explained it was my tires and had me purchase a set of 4. At 35000 miles the dealership replaced the tires again this time at no charge. I am now at 64000 and third set of tires. I was on the freeway going approx 55 mph when the truck began to shake and the tread fell off the front driver's side tire. I immediately pulled to the side and will be visiting the dealership on Monday. I am not sure what the exact number of the tires is but it is the grabber tire.

My 2001 Ford excape has 27,600 miles on it. My tires have worn out from the outside in. I carried it to the local Ford dealer and was told I needed a 4 wheel alignment. My dealer said I had received a check before I bought it. I did not. I drove it off the showroom floor. Now I have to buy over $400 worth of tires and have an alignment. The local dealer said I would have to have had a pretty good lick for it to have all 4 out of alignment. I do not hotdog this car. I feel like this is a manufacturers defect.
