Total loss of engine power massive amount black soot exiting exhaust while driving recall # 05v270000 was not performed on vehicle ( I am the original owner) never received notice in mail and dealer somehow missed this "work" and Ford should have followed through on this situation. Other repairs done to this vehicle to "fix" this problem was to drain the fuel tank (algae in fuel was the excuse-no algae) fuel pump and filter rail (not problem) two turbochargers were replaced due to excessive sooting (one warranty one at my expense) egr valves and a cam sensor (Ford knows the problems exist because Ford discountinued the 6. 0 litre motor) this problem has occured multiple times over my ownership.

A spark plug blew out of the engine. While I realize that there was no collateral damage this time, my truck has nine more opportunities to do it again. My daughter and 4 year old grandson were stranded on the side of the road in 32 degree temps. Her cell phone had died and she had to walk to a phone (child in tow). There is enormous proof that this is a rampant problem with Ford engines and has cost consumers thousands of dollars to repair yet you choose not to hold them liable and have even allowed them to cover up a problem. . On 11/26/13 driving back from atlanta heading south leaving the florida welcome center on I-75, 4 miles north of jennings on I-75 south jennings. Leaving the welcome center the vehicles engine lost power while trying to merge back into traffic without any prior indication of a problem. The loss of power caused us to have to divert from the lane until we could gain more speed. The vehicle had no accelerating power above 40 mph even with the gas pedal depressed all the way to the floor. There were no check engine lights on or any abnormal indicators. I called the Ford customer care center on 12/12/13 and they acknowledge they have a problem with the erg failing due to collecting carbon and soot build up. They have not issued any service bulletins to owners letting them know there is an issue or have issued a maintenance program to try to prevent this from occurring. 1)Ford designed the engine to pass soot and carbon back thru the erg valve. It is a bad design since it causes every engine to eventually fail. 2)Ford does not warranty the egr valve or any component if soot or carbon sticks to the valve or component, even though it is designed to do so. 3)Ford knows there is an issue with the egr failing which deposits soot and carbon in the intake of the engine which causes the engine to lose power and or ultimately quit without warning. 4)no service bulletins were issued to owners warning them of this safety problem. 5)cleaning the egr valve is not listed in the issued service manual. 6)no preventative maintenance service was offered to prevent this failure from occurring. 7)dealers enjoy this failure since it is a high labor revenue generator for them to tear down the engine to replace or clean the intake manifold. 8)the repair cost was approximately $3319. 90 the vehicle is currently under the highest Ford premium care warranty.

How can a company as Ford claim to be an honest american car company. . . They should be stripped of their title of american and given their own identity of corporate cause they obviously do not care about the safety or their own integrity with the united states the people and we the people are just dollar signs to them. I have two Fords and lets just say I should have learned after my second found on the road dead vehicle to not have been suckered into buying the american made Ford again. I own a 2000 Ford Excursion and have had four spark plugs blown in the last two months. . . Two in the last week. My truck barely hit 143,000. . . . Work trucks, dependable family vehicles. . . Not so much. My truck has been taken care of immaculantly since 2000 and many who are not familiar with body details mistake it for the newer versions. This is a common problem that has been in existence since the truck came out. . . So much a problem Ford came out with a special repair kit for it that will only be warranteed if you go to Ford to fix it. . . Sounds like a racket to me. A racket the government has looked into and approved. I have a family and am trying to get through this recession but seem to be going bankrupt not on gas prices from overseas or inflation but from repairs for an american, excuse me corporate american made vehicle that has taken almost every pint of blood my family has collectively. After a decade of continued complaints Ford and the "safety agency" does nothing. . . My truck sits in my drive way because I choose to buy school clothes for my children and groceries vs. Repairing it again. Beyond disgusted on behalf of the american Ford owners. . . Who have walked in my shoes. After so many complaints how can the government and consumer affairs allow this corporate company not be held accountable?.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Excursion. While having the vehicle serviced for routine maintenance at an independent repair shop, he was informed water was leaking around the egr cooler and anti freeze was leaking into the exhaust system. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continues. The failure and current mileages were 95,000.
This vehicle has been serviced countless times for stalling. Each time the dealer has replaced the egr valve and other items because of failure codes. Each time the egr valve has failed. The dealer is "repairing" the vehicle and giving it back to me. Within 5 minutes after receiving the vehicle from the service department, it stalls again. The vehicle will stall at least 3 times during a 30 minute drive. It stalls on the freeway, on residential streets, starting from a dead stop, and if it is driving at a constant speed. This vehicle is not fixed and it is obvious the dealer cannot fix it! it is going in tomorrow for the 3rd time this month for the same problem. I have almost gotten in an accident from it stalling, and I have had many times where I have been in a dangerous situation from it stalling. The dealer cannot fix it, I cannot sale it to another person in this condition, and Ford won't do anything to help me. I am driving a very dangerous vehicle and have no way to fix it. What can I do? please give me a suggestion. Do I have any rights if the vehicle cannot be fix?.
While towing a camper, the engine overheated about 4 hours into the trip. The truck and trailer had to be towed home. The truck was brought to Ford and it was determined that the head gaskets blew out. The dealer said this was common with the 6. 0 diesel engines. He stated that it was caused by the head bolts stretching. He repaired it, but, told me I would be back again unless I purchased arp racing head bolts($600). I researched it online and found he was correct. I provided the bolts and Ford did the repair under warranty. In 2008, the egr cooler/oil cooler ruptured and had to be replaced (under warranty). In 2009, the ficm module malfunctioned. Since the truck was now out of warranty, Ford wanted $700 for the part, plus labor. In 2010, the egr cooler/oil cooler ruptured again. Since the truck was out of warranty, I was told it would be $4000 to repair. I researched online again and found the whole egr design was flawed. I purchased an aftermarket designed cooler and, since then, have had no more problems.
The 2003 Ford Excursion 6. 0 liter diesel, first broke down while driving home from the dealer who was working on recall items. The vehicle stalled while driving less than 2 miles from the dealer (dealer now out of business). After a while the vehicle began losing power, but not stalling while driving, especially up hills. After many attempts to clean parts, egr valve etc, it was stated that the injectors were bad. All injectors replaced. Front main leaf spring broke on the vehicle, and had to be replaced - the spring was no longer available, -the repair facility stated that this vehicle has been historically undersized, and they stopped making the original spring, because too many were breaking. We then again started experiencing a loss of power while driving - at this time my kids were driving the car, and this was particularly worrisome. My repair shop sent the vehicle to a heavy truck and diesel repair shop, specializing in ambulances. After charging me $3000 to fix my problems (various pieces an part related to the engine, fuel system, etc), the vehicle seemed to operate well. While up in cleveland for thanksgiving, the vehicle lost power on the highway - . Had to have it towed to a dealer, and rent a replacement during our vacation. The dealer said more of the fuel/engine issues and after charging me another $1500, I was able to drive home. Less than one month later, same stalling issues. The vehicle would simply stall, at low speed, high speed, under load, or no load - towed again to my repair person, and he sent it to a different diesel mechanic who told me that diesel is leaking into the engine, the injectors again need to be replaced, that it has never been fixed properly, and that this engine is notorious for having very significant problem. I am out of a vehicle, down to one for the family, and unable to afford getting it fixed - again.
