My vehicle has completely shut down in the middle of driving on several occasions. I have had diagnostic reports run and they do not find any problems. The first time I was going 45 mph and was able to coast into a sonic. I waited about 15 minutes and the car started back up. The second time was at a gas station and my car would not start. I had a diagnostic run and was told it was my battery. I replaced the battery and my vehicle died again the next day, but started back up one I let it sit for a few minutes. This morning I was pulling into a parking lot at work and it died. After about 10 minutes it started back up and I was able to pull into a parking spot. I went to leave for lunch and now my vehicle will not start at all. This could have been much worse if I were driving down the interstate and the car shut off on me like it has done other times. I have two children and the thought of them in this car does not make me feel safe!!.
I was driving down the freeway approximately 50 mph when my engine completely shut down. There was a beep and a light came on that said "enginer fail safe mode". The engine shut off, but luckily I still had full movement of my steering wheel so I was able to change lanes and get off to the shoulder. I panicked for a moment, but started the car and it started right back up. I attempted my drive to work and made it there. Not sure what to do about the problem, but I'm scared to drive it anymore. Especially with my children in the vehicle and my husband is out of town for work. This is a major safety issue and needs to be recalled.
I was driving about 25-30mph and making a left turn. The vehicle suddenly shut off. I had no power steering or anything. It was totally off and stopped in the middle of the road. If a car had been coming it would have hit us. I was able to turn off the key, put it in park and start it up and pull off the road. I decided to carefully try to get home. On the way home I was stopped at a red light and it shut off again, no warning. I was blocking traffic. I was again able to turn off the key, put it in park, and start it up. I made it home a short distance. This is very dangerous and someone could get killed on a highway by a car randomly shutting off and becoming unsteerable.
Engine just shuts off, especially at a stand still & a/c on. Not as often if a/c is not on.
Driving at 25mph the vehicle engine shut down and went into failsafe mode, power steering also disabled causing a very dangerous situation trying to steer the car from traffic to a safe area without assisted steering. This problem has occurred several times over the past 2 years and usually in colder weather. Last time it happened was on a main highway but luckily I was alone without my family and in the inside lane so I was able to pull over thankfully it didn't happen in the overtaking lane as there is no time to safely change lanes when it shuts down. Surprised there has been no fatalities due to this as it is a common problem with 2006 Ford trucks.
Engine shut down at highway speed. Loss of power steering and power brakes. Was able to coast to emergency lane then restart car. Happened two additional times. Took to shop where the throttle body was replaced. No issues since then (~ 1 year ago). Sounds like manufacturer defect. This is a safety issue.
My 2006 Ford Expedition has shut off multiple times since the summer of 2010. It was serviced in the summer of 2010 and ran fine for a while. In 2011, it started cutting off at random times. I could be at a stop light, intersection, driving, or turning the corner. I have had the vehicle tested about 3 times over the last year and no one can seem to figure out the problem. The scariest incident happened while I was making a left turn at a busy intersection and the vehicle shut off and the power steering went out. I turned on the hazard light, put the car in park and started it very quickly. The vehicle started up with no problem. Luckily no one was behind me or coming towards me. This problem needs to be fixed. I have read multiple post about this problem and Ford has not recalled the vehicle yet. Please help!.
Driving vehicle and car shut off. A wrench symbol appeared. After 2 attempts, I was able to get the vehicle restarted. Took car to garage for service and was informed that the computer code which came back was the "cruise control circuitry" and I would need to take the vehicle to a Ford dealership for service due to the nature of the repair.
Driving on highway and SUV just shuts down, without warning. This is the 2nd time this has happened.
