The contact owns a 2013 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 mph, a loud banging noise was heard from the front end of the vehicle as the wheels seized. The contact was able to travel at low speed in 2-wheel drive. The vehicle was later towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the front axle shaft was fractured and caused damage to the transmission cooling line and oil pan. The parts were ordered and the vehicle was scheduled for repairs when the parts became available. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 1,200.

Changed lanes at speed of aprox 35 mph right rear axle of vehicle
broke off at axle end by wheel causing damage to wheel, tire and
backing plate. Replaced all parts and old parts are available at
my home .

While driving on the road at 30-40 mph the front wheel wobbled back and forth. Before being able to pull to the side of the road the left wheel came off the car. The axle was bend very badly. No one was hurt, but the axle had to be replaced. The dealer refused to do it without charging the consumer an excessive price.
