The peeling paint is primarily on the back hatch but also some paint bubbling is occurring on a few other small spots on the vehicle. There is also evidence of significant leaks of water into the body but no obvious points of entry.

9 Paint problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/02/2013

Paint peeling off under front of hood and under rear lift gate. This is a known problem for Ford, I am finding out. It has apparently been going on for over a decade. The paint flakes off on any aluminum body panels that have been contaminated with iron. I have taken my vehicle to the dealer and they refused to repair it free of charge. I also called Ford directly to complain and was told that there is currently no recall for the paint since there are not enough complaints.

10 Paint problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 07/31/2013

The paint on the rear of my truck starting coming off. I read online that many Ford Expedition owners have this same complaint and that some owners have taken Ford to court to fix this. This is not right. It is a well maintained vehicle and the paint only in the rear starts bubbling up and then falling off. I think this should be fixed by Ford. This is a very expensive vehicle. I have a 2000 crown victoria with no paint falling off.

14 Paint problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 09/24/2012

I have called Ford about the paint peeling on the back hatch and front hood. They have told me that they do not have a recall or problems with the paint. I have told them that many Ford Expedition owners have stopped me on the road and that Ford had repainted their vehicle for nothing. Any given day you can drive by one of these vehicles and you will see the exact locations are peeling paint. I would ask for you to check why some are covered and others are not. Thank you for your assistance.

15 Paint problem of the 2010 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 07/17/2012

The paint on the rear hatch is bubbling, Ford states they do not have a issue. The same thing happened on my 2004 Expedition. This should not happen to a 2 year old vehicle. After researching online the problem seems very widespread. They will not give me a answer as to why this could happen on such a new vehicle, only send me a form letter response.

16 Paint problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Paint is peeling off hood and rear lift gate. This is a known problem for Ford. It has apparently been going on for over a decade. The paint flakes off on any aluminum body panels that have been contaminated with iron. I spoke with Ford and they cannot issue a recall on the paint until more complaints are filed with Ford motor company. Call 1-800-392-3673 with your VIN to file your complaint. It only takes 5 minutes.

Paint flaking off hood and rear lift gate. These are no magnetic parts, possibly aluminum.

18 Paint problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/08/2011

Ford Expedition 2008 purchased new in 2009 from mullinax Ford in lake park FL had paint blister on the hood and back end in 2011 which is a well known problem. Mullinax body shop said paint not covered after 1 year and quoted expensive paint job. I asked if that is what I should expect from a Ford motor vehicle since this was my 1st Ford. I also asked if this was good advertisement for Ford with the obvious paint peel everywhere we go. I tell the story to everyone I see or asks with a 7 member family playing sports, school, work, church, etc. Now that it's time to replace, I wonder if Ford expects us to purchase a Ford SUV for over $60,000+ versus all the options out there. Hmmm Ford could have done a simple paint job at their "cost" years ago for our loyalty many many cars going forward. Burn us once, shame on you. . . . . . Twice. . . . Bad decision mullinax Ford.

19 Paint problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 05/18/2011

I have a 2008 Ford Expedition that has paint corrosion around the front hood latch. I had an estimate done by a local body shop and he pointed this out to me. He said it will eventually corrode through and the hood will fly open.

20 Paint problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 01/28/2011

I have called Ford about the paint peeling on the back hatch and front hood. They have told me that they do not have a recall or problems with the paint. I have told them that many Ford Expedition owners have had the same issue as indicated by NHTSA reports and fixed their vehicle at no cost. Any given day you can drive by one of these vehicles and you will see the exact locations are peeling paint. I would ask for you to check why some are covered and others are not to then issue a recall to fix all affected. Thank you for your assistance.

21 Paint problem of the 2006 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 10/20/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Expedition. The paint on the tail gate and front hood had begun to crack and bubble. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection. The technician concluded that none of the paint can be serviced until corrosion was exhibited. The current and failure mileages were 82000.

22 Paint problem of the 2006 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

Painted metal trim at the bottom of side windows is rusting and the paint is peeling. If painted correctly at the factory no way this would be happening. I have also noticed this same prblem on many other Expeditions, yet Ford says not there problem.

23 Paint problem of the 2005 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

2005 Ford Expedition, paint cracking and peeling on the roof. Of course I did not notice it till 102,000 miles. I did take it to the dealer and they basically told me that Ford would not have fixed it 100% anyway. They do a one-third (Ford), one-third (dealer), one-third (customer) pays. I find this very unacceptable. You buy a $60+++ vehicle and the paint holds no guarantee. I guess I'm luckier than the other guy though, you really don't notice the roof. The dealer said it would be about a $1500 repaint. I plan on chipping it off as much as I can, sanding it and then getting some black plastisol coating. Luckily again my Expedition is black and the problem is between the luggage rack runners and sunroof.

24 Paint problem of the 2006 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 01/07/2009

Rear door paint blisters.

25 Paint problem of the 2005 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

The paint is bubbling and peeling on the hood and rear lift gate. This problem started and keeps getting worse. The paint has already came off in a 1 inch section. I could send I a piece of the paint to a lab if needed. Car was never in accident of re-painted.

26 Paint problem of the 2005 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

I have a 2005 Ford Expedition that has paint bubbling in different areas. I did some research on-line and found that Ford issued a technical service bulletin 04-25-1 in 2004 and another bulletin 06-25-1 in 2006 that explains that prior to painting, iron particles contaminated the aluminum panel which causes the paint bubbles down the road. In my research on-line, I found that Ford is not taking care of their customers, but some dealers are covering some of the repairs under a "goodwill policy". I contacted a lawyer that specializes in lemon-law, and he suggested I file this complaint. He says if enough people complain, it may force Ford to take action and take care of their customers. I did contact my dealership, and they say they never heard of this problem. I am past my 3 year warranty, so they say it is not covered.

27 Paint problem of the 2006 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/02/2008

I have a 2006 Ford Expedition. 31,000 miles. I have paint bubbles on the hood and rear tail gate on the inside and outside. Ford told me to take it to a service center. Service center said they won't fix it until it become a hole in the metal. Are you kidding me! $35,000 SUV 2yrs. Old and I have to spend $1,200. 00 out of pocket to fix it. Last Ford I'll ever own!.

28 Paint problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/11/2007

I own a Ford Expedition 2000. The paint of the car is letting go form the primer this vehicle has been taken care of. I checked on line and found several other people complaining about the same problem. The vehicle was inspected by a body shop and the stated that Ford should be responsible since it is the primer that is letting go of the metal and bubbling the paint right if the car. When the paint flakes off it is just the metal and no rust at that point then with in days it is rust please help.
