While towing a rented trailer from tractor supply, the trailer detached because it was not properly secured by store staff. The trailer struck the rear bumper of my 2021 Ford Expedition, causing visible body damage and raising concerns about hidden damage to the drivetrain and transmission due to the sudden force of the impact. After the incident, the vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership for inspection. Documentation exists showing that additional drivetrain and transmission evaluation is needed to determine the full extent of damage. The rear-view camera is also under active NHTSA recall (25v048), and its poor image quality complicates safe reversing after the incident. The safety risk is significant: the trailer detachment created a roadway hazard and impact, while the rear camera defect reduces visibility and increases crash risk when backing. The vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealership and is being reviewed under an insurance claim with tractor supply’s insurer. Full documentation of the service visit and inspection is available upon request.

Travelling down interstate at speed and right rear quarter panel came loose, was flapping around behind and beside vehicle and partially tore free. This presents a high speed debris hazard.
We bought our vehicle brand new 2 days ago. This morning the panoramic sunroof exploded and shattered.

I am writing to formally report a significant issue with my vehicle that has resulted in damage to the roof and potential long-term integrity concerns. The liftgate spoiler is contacting the roof in freezing temperatures, which creates a hole in the roof when opening the liftgate. Upon inspection, it appears there is an insufficient margin between the liftgate spoiler and the roof area centerline. This problem is particularly concerning because a hole in the roof allows moisture to penetrate, jeopardizing the structural integrity of the roof and potentially leading to further damage, such as rust or water intrusion into the vehicle. I believe this issue may be the result of a design flaw and would like to request an immediate inspection and resolution. As this defect directly impacts the durability and safety of the vehicle, I urge you to treat this matter as a priority. Please let me know how this issue can be resolved, including any repairs, adjustments, or recalls that may apply. I am happy to provide photographs or additional documentation if needed.

Door latch mechanism freezes, unable to close/latch door. Ford has a known TSB for this issue, which was recently repaired. Door latch still freezing, so door will not close. Have to drive with bungee cord to hold shut. Totally unsafe for backseat passenger!!!!!’.
The right tail lamp on my 2021 Ford Expedition was loose, and the tail lamp completely fell off while I was driving. My safety and the safety of other drivers was put at risk when the tail lamp fell off because my tail lamp was not visible to other drivers. The vehicle was not involved in any accident, and the tail lamp is in perfect condition. My car is at the dealership currently to get it fixed, and the technician stated that the tabs are broken on the backside of the tail lamp so it is not able to lock into place. The tail lamp has to be completely replaced. There were no warning lamps, messages, or any other type of indication that the tail lamp was loose. I believe this was caused by a manufacturer defect.
The chrome trim around the center console where cup holders, gearbox are located has peeled. When driving and going to pickup something off the console, the chrome that is peeling is very sharp and has cut myself and my husband. This is a known issue with people with the same vehicle. It’s distracting while driving as you get a shock and do not expect that which can cause a motor vehicle accident. It also poses a danger for people that have a fear of the sight of blood while driving too.

Second row power folding captain chair can fold down without anybody touching button. Rear hatch opens intermittently while parked or driving. The latest incident occurred while driving on city streets, and dash flashed a warning about rear hatch being opened while driving about 20mph.
Issue is with Ford 10r80 transmission. While at freeway speeds ( 60/65 mph) transmission is engaged in 8th/9th gear and you command vehicle to downshift to a passing gear (3rd for example) with a 3/4 throttle input - the gear indicator light shows 1st gear ( which is not possible going 60mph ), but the vehicle falls into a false neutral basically loosing all power. The rpms will rev all the way up, and you have to take your foot off of the accelerator and allow approx. 5 seconds of "coasting" before the vehicle is able to get itself back into a gear to resume power. This failure happens basically on command, and you aren't able to apply more than 1/2 throttle while driving down the freeway. Reported defect to peoria Ford who told me no TSB exists for this issue and they aren't able to fix anything because no dtc error codes exist in the computer so I need to come pick up the vehicle. I am not forced out of a Ford rental and back into a vehicle with a known safety defect according to your TSB bulletin 22-2428. Ford needs to recall these unsafe vehicles off the road instead of currently waiting for the warranties to run out on all of them so they aren't liable for repairs. This is a well known/documented safety problem and needs to be addressed ASAP with a nationwide recall. Also, power running boards fail to deploy causing a fall hazard ( my pregnant wife has fallen out and in of the vehicle because the step isnt there. If referencing the picture below : 1st gear, no power/boost gauge shows 0, vehicle is going 60 mph on the freeway.
Vehicle caught fire on February 29, 2024, with family members inside the vehicle. The fire appeared to start under the hood on the right passenger side, which would directly correlate with the current open recall. The family had just made a trip back from a basketball game and was dropping off a passenger when smoke was noticed. Upon further inspection, there was an active fire under the hood, which soon erupted into a burst of flames, causing the vehicle to be declared a total loss. Emergency responders had to be called to the scene to alleviate the fire. The fire report depicts a vehicle malfunction as the cause of the ignition. Ford has made no efforts to contact the consumer regarding the fire and subsequent damage.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the vehicle had collected snow and while opening the trunk, the spoiler fractured. The vehicle was taken to an auto body shop, where it was determined that the spoiler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. An unknown dealer was contacted, and a voicemail message was left. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
Front passenger door latch is inoperable from inside in cold weather (below freezing) preventing egress of front passenger without a seperate person opening door from outside vehicle.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? apim issues causing gps, bluetooth, radio, settings and camera to mess up. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? getting lost on the road without gps. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? the vehicle has been to a Ford dealership. They were able to recreate the issue. They state the apim is bad. We had to have the apim reset with less than 9k miles on the vehicle. They are now saying resetting the apim is not resolving the issue. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, this started about 2 months ago. We were just able to get the vehicle looked at this week.
In December of 2023 (not even one full year after purchasing my brand new Ford Expedition) I used the fob to remotely open the trunk on my 2022 Ford Expedition. Upon doing so, I heard popping and cracking sounds. I didn't see any damage, so I didn't think anything of it until I drove on the interstate and immediately heard a violent slapping noise coming from the back of my vehicle. I took the truck to the dealership (where I purchased my vehicle). They inspected the vehicle and said that the spoiler is misaligned and loose - causing the sound and also resulting in a dent on the roof of the vehicle. The dealership said that Ford would not cover the repair under their full bumper to bumper warranty. Three other people with new Ford Expeditions at my dealership have experienced this exact issue. (also a simple google search of "Ford spoiler issue" will demonstrate that many others have experienced this issue. ) I am extremely nervous to drive my vehicle anywhere as it sounds and feels like the spoiler is going to fly off of the vehicle especially when I drive on the interstate. This is a huge safety issue. The spoiler is loose and could fly off on the highway and cause an accident or hit another vehicle. Nhtsa is aware of this issue and submitted an ssm to Ford (https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2023/mc-10232437-0001. Pdf), but Ford will not recall or cover repairs to their vehicles that have a defect and pose a safety risk. This needs to be immediately rectified before someone is seriously hurt.
A-pillar/hinge integrity engineering concern. While opening my door in a parking lot, the wind caught the door before I could catch the door. The door met the hinge stop and flexed enough for the edge of the door panel to contact a bolt on the a-pillar door hinge assembly, causing a small crease in the aluminum door panel. My concern is that in 30 years of driving, I have had a door caught be wind before but never had damage to the vehicle. This was not a strong wind, just enough to catch the door. The a-pillar is now flexed slightly such that the door panel gap is larger and seems related to the actual a-pillar flex, not a hinge failure. Vehicle testing of the 22 Ford Expedition has show some poor performance in the a-pillar area and I am concerned that this door issue is due to poor engineering and strength of the a-pillar. I have had the vehicle inspected at the Ford dealership and a customer service complain with Ford is in process. I do not feel this issue can be attributed to user error or considered "accidental" but is due to structual/safety deficiency of the a-pillar structure. . Read more...
The driver and passanger rear doors have issues with the doul latches. They do not always security shut and the doors swing open while driving. When the temperatures drop, the latches do not work, therefore, the doors do not securely shut. I tool the vehicle to a Ford repair dealership and they informed me that this is an issue with millions of Ford's. They suggested I contact you because there isn't a current recall on this vehicle. This issue has happened multiple times now.
The transmission jumps in and out of gear, the engine revs on its on. I was on the highway the first time and I going between 60 and 65 mph and it sounded like the whole bottom of the truck was just ripped out, the truck went from drive to either park or first gear it locked up the back tires and there was a truck behind me he tried to miss me but he hit the back passenger side of the truck. He was very very upset he threatening and cussing me because he thought I just slammed on my brakes for no reason. I explained to him what was happening and calmed down think god. It could have killed him or me or even several other people. When it locked up the tires then it jumped back in drive and tried tot take off, I threw it in neutral and cut the key off. That scared the sh. . Out of me!! I have talked to other people that have around the same year model truck as mine and some of them are having the same issues with it jumping in and out of gear not wanting to shift gears revving up on its own and no engine light comes on I've tried to get a code scanner scan it no codes come up on the truck Ford needs to fix this truck they had a recall on certain models that were manufactured at different plants or something like that I heard but they won't fix my truck they said it's not under recall this truck is going to kill somebody it's the only truck I have and I have to go to work I'm just asking if you can please do something about this before people get killed in or I get killed I'm going to try to get a video of what it does I'm just asking if you can please do something about this Ford knows what the problem is I read stuff on it and they need to fix these trucks before it kills people they know what the problem is if I have a bad wreck and I live to it or this truck causing somebody to lose their life it's going to be a multi multi multi million dollar lawsuit because they refuse to fix the truck I'm just asking you if you can please do something about this thank you.

I was driving down the highway and parts of the roof rack flew off and hit the car behind me in the process. Ford will not cover even though they have a recall on the same parts for the Ford explorer.
July 30, 2023, I was in car wreck with my Ford Expedition, 2017. The other car ran red light and hit my Ford in left front ahead of front wheel. Other car traveling approx 35 mph, by police report. Side airbag fizzled with smoke an did not deploy. Neither front airbag deployed. No airbags deployed. Ford was considered a total loss by both insurance companies involved. This vehicle has 5 star safety rating and that was considered in my purchase. I purchased Ford in oct 2016, new. It was always serviced by Ford dealer here. This vehicle does not deserve 5 star rating.

Driver's door latch inoperable when in freezing weather, potentially blocking egress in emergency situation. Ford has issued a service bulletin to address this safety concern and engineering (and testing!) flaw, yet will not cover safety concern because car is out of warranty. Ssm 50571 - 2018-2021 Expedition and 2020-2021 explorer - doors intermittently unable to lock/unlock and/or difficult to open in freezing temperatures some 2018-2021 Expedition and 2020-2021 explorer vehicles may intermittently exhibit doors unable to lock/unlock and/or difficult to open in freezing temperatures. This may be due to water entering the interior door latch lock indicator cable assembly. To resolve the condition, replace the affected latch and cable assembly per workshop manual (wsm), section 501-14. Use the latest level service parts only. Applicable vehicles 2020 - 2021 car: tw u625n explorer 2018 - 2021 truck: b8 u553n Expedition.
Muffler and exhaust pipes have gotten rusted. I only have 37k miles on it. Is this a defect from manufacturer? I have many other cars but not rust over 100k miles.
In below-freezing weather, the driver's side door latch of our 2018 Ford Expedition cannot be operated from the inside or outside of the vehicle, greatly limiting the occupant's ability to enter or exit the vehicle. A Ford technician advised today that the latch would need to be replaced. There were no indicators of a malfunction. Similar year Ford f-150s are covered for this issue by Ford's customer satisfaction program 18n03. Https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2018/mc-10148744-9999. Pdf.

We started to notice some body issues -rear side fenders popping out, the front grill popping out,, the inside screen would go blank, fuel tank lid pops open. As if this was not enough - we then encountered more issues - sunroof was falling on our heads, the step up railing is falling apart. . . . Wait- there's more - paint coming off the hood. . . And to top it all off - there is a cracking noise thru the inside. We cannot control the noise. We lose all function and use of controls (radio, climate, etc. ).
Metal corrosion on the back liftgate is allowing water to leech into the electrical connections to the back camera, causing it to intermittently not work leading to complete failure eventually. The service techs at the Ford dealership have described this common problem with this year model Expeditions and is due to a chemical problem either with the metal or factory paint or both. Corrosion is not due to rust. We bought the car new in late 2011.
Rented the vehicle from action car rental in orlando FL. On Nov 7, 2022. The following evening we noticed some drips coming from the reading light assembly on the roof between the driver and passenger seats (there is no sunroof). We contacted the facility and left messages - no return calls - we contacted the parent company nu car rental and did not get anyone on the phone after calling back multiple times. There was a hurricane/tropical storm approaching between 11/9 am-11/10 am and when I finally got ahold of someone during the storm shutdowns; I then notified them of the water intrusion. They said I can return the vehicle to the security guard after the storm passes but cannot guarantee they will have a replacement car for me and to rent elsewhere if I had to. They would note the account for a refund. I was on vacation in orlando until 11/14, therefore I had to get another rental elsewhere. The afternoon of 11/10 when my husband got into the car with my son they realized tons of water was on the front floorboards. The night before and when we returned the car we got in the SUV to drive we heard water swishing in the body of the car (this was after the storm - we didn't drive during the hurricane alerts). Upon acceleration the water swished from the front to back and could be heard on both sides of the car then deceleration the reverse; water swished from the back to front. When we returned the car to the security guard around 5:55a he said it would be inspected by mike the manager. The manager did not inspect the car until it was marked as returned at 6:20a. He stated on the notes the car was in good condition and listed incorrect mileage driven. Numerous attempts were made to get a refund due to the issues and safety concerns - failed attempts until I got an investigative reporter involved. Then my cc reversed their denial of the dispute and rtnd the money. But we discovered the car had a major accident in canada and also had multiple recalls open.
Recalls fixed 11/15/2022 on my 2017 Ford Expedition. I purchased in March 2018 after picking up my Ford from winner Ford, dover DE yesterday 11/15/2022 I realized my backup camera screen is fuzzy, the stopped working before I even left the premises. In 2022 Ford recalled Expedition backup carmera camera with distorted screens but not for 2017. I have had 2 batteries. There has to be an electrical problem. My remote start stopped working in 0ctober 2022 after the recalls were fixed but my keyfob can still lock and unlock, my driver power seat does not move when started or turning off, my doors will not lock using the door buttons, when I open my drivers door there's and alarm as if there's a light on or a malfunction. Fordpass sync will not update to the system to newest version and my Ford. I have Ford connected service on my Ford pass app.
Panoramic moon roof exploded without warning. No debris or objects hit roof. Glass fell into vehicle from above. Ford denying any manufacturing wrong doing. Glass could have cut or injured children sitting in car seats below.
Driving 70 miles per hour part of the roof rack blew off the vehicle; the molding and front cap on the driver side of the vehicle. The roof rack had never been used. A Ford dealer inspected the area where the parts were and could not determine what caused the failure.
While driving down the highway I heard a pop in my vehicle and realized my sunroof had burst. Glass separated and flew into my car and cut myself and my 4 small children. No warning lights were on in my vehicle at this time. When brought to the dealership for repair, the repair shop reported that this will happen with these vehicles and to pursue reimbursement with Ford. Unfortunately, Ford reports that vehicle is not under warranty and the repairs won’t be covered.
On the second row seat, passenger side door will not open using the door handle with the child safety switch in lock or unlock position. It will open from the outside handle. This is a safety concern. In case accident happen or fire in the vehicle occurs, the second and third row passengers can not get out of the vehicle fast enough for their safety. This has not work for over a year now.

When getting things out of the rear cargo area the lift gate has come down unexpectedly and hit me in the head. Several times the rear lift gate randomly opens when exiting or entering the car. Has hit my spouse and has come close to hitting other person walking in back of the vehicle. The lift gate came open barely missing the vehicle parked behind it. Would of damaged both vehicles renegade super c $300,000 and the Ford Expedition $85,000 along with possibly pinning and injuring the person behind the vehicle. Took the vehicle to a Ford dealer and they ran diagnostic tests and looked for any faults and found nothing. We feel like we are driving a ticking time bomb and just missing a bullet each time we go to use the vehicle. Need immediate attention-.
We are only doing pickup orders as we have had covid. We park our vehicle and turn the vehicle off and open the lift gate while waiting for the delivery to be placed in the back of the vehicle. Once delivery is complete, lift gate will only close a few inches and the horn beeps twice. This happens over and over again until we get out and close the lift gate manually. Our local dealer we just purchased the vehicle from has tried to fix this issue, however, Ford has advised us that the vehicle has to be either kept running, or turned on to close the lift gate. After trying this process, our sons in the 3rd row have been getting nauseous from the fumes. Ford also states in the user manual that the lift gate should be fully closed to prevent fumes from entering the vehicle. We have videos of the lift gate stopping and horn beeping that we can not send but are available if we are contacted.
