2 Tire Bubble problem of the 2003 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 10/23/2009

On oct 23 while driving I noticed a thumping noise. Upon inspection I discovered the left rear tire had a large bubble sticking out on the inside of the tire between the tread and the sidewall. This is the exact same failure that I experienced on the inside of the right rear tire in Aug. In both cases I had been driving for a short period on the interstate and was preparing to rejoin the interstate. I was extremely fortunate that both were discovered prior to an explosive failure and tread separation at high speed on the highway. The first tire the dealer claimed it may of been some sort of impact, which I doubted since the vehicle was mainly used for highway driving. However after this second tire, it is apparent to me that the tire is failing between the tread and sidewall. It appears to be separating where the tread joins the inside belting.

3 Tire Bubble problem of the 2002 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 10/10/2009

In March 2008, I purchased 4 advanta SUV tires p265/70r17 for my vehicle, about 3 months later one tire had an air bubble on the side and I had to replace it. I don't travel that much just to and from work. This August 2009, I let my mom use my truck and the two rear tires went, one blew out while the other rear one began to shred. On Saturday October 10 while traveling on the highway the front passenger tire blew out. I noticed there is a recall for p265/70r16 and I need to know who I need to contact regarding the tires that have. This is a very serious and dangerous situation, my family and I am are very blessed that we were not hurt in theses incidents.

4 Tire Bubble problem of the 2001 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 02/15/2008

The contact owns a 2001 Ford Expedition. The vehicle had continental grabber aw tires, size p275/60r17 (na) three years ago. At that time, all four tires had to be replaced because the vehicle drove roughly and the tires began to form bubbles. The tires were replaced at 30,000 miles at the contact's expense, even though there was a safety recall. The vehicle currently has general continental contitrac SUV tires, size 275/60r17 (na) and they are experiencing the same failure. The contact would like to be reimbursed for the first set of tires that he replaced and to have the current tires replaced. He referenced NHTSA campaign id number 02t012000 (tires:tread/belt). The dot number was unknown. The vehicle current mileage was 68,000 and failure mileage was 30,000. The tire failure mileage was 5,000.

5 Tire Bubble problem of the 2003 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 09/01/2006

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Expedition. The vehicle has continental contitrac aw tires (size p27560r17). One year after purchasing the tires, the contact noticed an air bubble on the rear passenger side tire. She returned to the store and exchanged the failed tire. A few months later, she noticed an air bubble on the rear driver side tire. A sales representative from wal-mart stated that the entire batch of tires was defective. The contact replaced the rear passenger side tire with a goodyear tire. While driving approximately 75 mph, the rear passenger side tire blew out and all of the cables were exposed. The contact believes that the tires are unsafe. The dot number, VIN, engine size, # of cylinders, and failure mileage were unknown. The current mileage is 97,000.

6 Tire Bubble problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 09/24/2001

All the tires I am reporting went bad while I had small children in the vehicle. All of them went bad as the result of a separation. They all got big bubbles in them where the tread separated from the rest of the tire. I believe that the only reason I didn't have a big accident was because I could feel the vehicle wobbling when I drove, due to the bubble in the tire. I find it very interesting that these tires all came appart at appx. 25000 miles. I had the fourth tire replaced before it could go out on me too. (tiresize: 275/6017).

8 Tire Bubble problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/02/2000

Tire less than one week old, traveling midday on freeway at 65 mph with clear unobstructed view ahead, clean dry road, heard loud "pop" come from rear of car, tire flat at exit just a few miles later, Ford dealer declined responsibility, referred us to firestone dealer who suggested highway hazard puncture even though we protested that no hazard was seen by either person in car, tire dealer tried to repair but bubble on side prevented safe repair, we bought another brand-new tire to replace defective tire( dot number: 027582 tire size: p265/70r17 ).

9 Tire Bubble problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Both front tires are "bubbling" on the outer edges. The right side is worse. My mechanic thinks it is from the shocks and warrents attention at only 11. 5k miles. He is worried of a blow-out. He says tire is "bouncing". ( dot number: ).
