4 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2005 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/09/2014

Accelerated engine to pass, engine coughed and heaved. The rpm climbed but vehicle acted like it was dying. Car eventually died. Turned car off re- started it. Chk engine light came on. Engine ran rough wanted to ramp up in rpms but still acted like it was going to die. (this is not the first time, it is very intermittent) the last time it seemed serious and continuous they changed the transmission. The problem did not leave. I read numerous post on the web site as the problem continues to come back. Never showing codes. Just runs like crap. Numerous identical problems on the internet. Bought a new maf. No help. Replaced coil packs no help. Checked and cleaned vct solenoids. No help. Replaced camshaft position sensor. No help. No chk eng lights. Will not exceed 3500 rpm.

5 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2011 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 08/26/2012

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle began to shake violently. The contact had difficulty controlling the steering wheel and swerved into the next lane with the illumination of the mechanical failure warning light. The contact was able to coast onto the shoulder. The vehicle was later taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure at the transmission solenoid. The dealer reprogrammed the computer system to correct the failure however, to no avail. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure and current mileage was 13,500.

6 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2011 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 05/07/2012

After driving the vehicle 2011 Ford Expedition el for approximately 5 hours at 70mph on interstate 95 at 2:30am in the state of georgia with no other vehicles nearby suddenly without any warning the car went into a violent skid causing it to swerve and spin out of control until coming to rest at the side of the road. At this time the transmission did not respond to either forward or reverse, there was no throttle response and the engine was at low idle with 0 oil pressure registering. The wrench indicator was lighted on the dash. Owners manual indicated the vehicle was in " limp mode ". I turned off the ignition and a short time later restarted the car with all systems operating normal with the wrench indicator no longer lighted. Subsequently the car was driven without further malfunction to the selling dealer about 400 miles away. The service manager simply stated the codes would be checked and the appropriate indicated repair made with no further concern for the obvious life safety event which easily could have resulted in a tragic fatal accident if other vehicles were in close proximity. Diagnostics found dtc p0975. Repair invoice indicated replace sse solenoid (7g136/ 7g383 7g484 7j136 ) & road tested ok. . In view of this traumatic incident & with no further confidence to drive this car I chose to replace it with a new 2012 model without any significant consideration regarding the new car cost. Contact with Ford motor CO case # [xxx] resulted in their opinion that "malfunctions happen and no consideration for vehicle replacement. Ford will apparently resell this vehicle to an unsuspecting customer. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2002 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 08/21/2006

Transmission slip. O/d light started to blink and transmission clunks into gear. This problem seems to be very prevalent as a few of my friends who own 2000 to 2002 model Fords have had this problem. They have had their transmissions replaced or rebuilt. This is a very common problem and the manufacturer is ignoring the problem with their vehicles. 4r100 transmission. I believe this is a solenoid body or harness malfunction.
