While driving 65 mph vehicle started swaying uncontrollably. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to a dealership for inspection. Mechanic determined that the sway bar sheared off while driving, and needed replacement.

2 Automatic Stability Control (asc) problem of the 1997 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 01/15/2004

It is hard to keep the vehicle in the lane when on the freeway. The front end has been done and the tires replaced. Manufacturer stated this vehicle was not included in the recall.

3 Automatic Stability Control (asc) problem of the 1999 Ford Explorer

Consumer hit an icy patch on the road, the vehicle started to skid, the vehicle was over corrected, hit side of road and vehicle turned over several times. Driver sustained injuries, and vehicle was totaled.
