Consumer states her 2002 Ford Explorer had the throttle stick last week. The dealership told her they could not do anything about it. The dealership refused to inspect the vehicle until Ford ordered them to or they heard from the NHTSA. The vehicle accelerated on it s own and she had to turn the vehicle off and take the key out.

After starting the vehicle and the vehicle was in gear it had to be given more gas because the throttle body was sticking. Owner contacted the dealer and the manufacturer. Because of the mileage on the vehicle they will do nothing about the problem. The throttle continues to stick causing unsafe driving conditions.

When the consumer place the gear in drive or reverse, the throttle became stuck, as a result the vehicle lurched forward. Please provide additional information. Throttle sticks after starting the vehicle. Additional force is required to depress the throttle, which results in th vehicle lurching. The sticking throttle makes it very difficult to maneuver there vehicle in tight spots such as parking areas. Ford dealer was notified but said the vehicle was past the extended warranty for this problem. The problem occurred again between 30000-35000 miles and was repaired under warranty.

Throttle sticks, has been repaired, as well as speed control recall completed/no crash.
Stopped at a stop sign, went to accelerate and the gas pedal was sticking. Then, vehicle lurched forward when the pedal stopped sticking. Contacted dealer, and was told that the throttle body valve was sticking which caused the problem.

Throttle sticking at accleration especially when engine is cold.
Recall repair unable to be completed due to lack of parts (99v-062), vehicle is experiencing throttle sticking/failure at this time. Mjs.
Upon purchase in June 1997, throttle stuck in closed position, especially when first starting up. Ford replaced the throttle plate once in approximately August 1997. The replacement throttle plate failed and was replaced by Ford in approximately November 1998. In June 1999, the throttle has again begun to stick and will probably have to be replaced for the 3rd time. Ford has recognized the problem and extended the warranty on this part to 72,000 miles, but it seems that they are still just replacing the part with another defective part.
Throttle sticks in idle position frequently. Most often happen when backing out of parking spot, but can occur at any time. Throttle assembly was replaced twice and reparied twice by 2 different dealers, but the replacements perform as poorly as the original equipment.
Throttle would stick. Started vehicle & shifted into drive. Vehicle shot forward. Driver had collapsed backwards. Took to dealer & mechanic could not locate problem. Called manufacturer. & was informed to keep taking vehicle back until problem is found.
