The right rear tire sidewall blew out in about 7 places on my 1996 Ford Explorer yesterday ( 11-11-01) on I-71 about 30 miles north of columbus ohio. At right around 65 mph I was very lucky that I could keep control of the vehicle and get it pulled over to the side of the road. After calling aaa for assistance the mechanic that came out to change the tire told me that this was a major tire failure. I would like to know what or now to follow up on this? (tiresize: p235/75r15).
Consumer states that vehicle was involved in a head on collision and all four tires were blown. Vehicle was totaled. Please provide additional information. Ts.

Had to replace all tires for fear of other tires blowing up after fierstone manager commented that tire s blow up after 57,000 miles. (per firstone store manager at mira mesa- California store). Me manager. (dot number: w 2 u u tiresize: p225/70r15).
For the second time in just a couple of weeks Ive had another one of my firestone (steeltex radials r4s) tires have a blowout and this time it included a complete tread separation. The tire location was the left rear inner tire. . . Temp outside was approx. 105 or greater (arizona). My highway speed was around 65mph. With less than 14000 miles on the tires, I should not be having this type of problem. Interesting to find out my tires are from the decatur plant, yet firestone refuses to admit there is a defect or theyre not designed to handle the heat in this area. Since this was my first trip since my last blowout, I have no confidence any of the remaining tires will last. Im replacing them all. Neither Ford nor firestone will meet me half way on the cost. (dot number: vd1l1xd059 tiresize: lt22575r16).
The vehicle suddenly became impossible to steer by pulling to the right and to the left due to a blown out tire. The wilderness ht tires appear to have the same defect as others and should be recalled too.
Tire blow out on side. No holes in treads but tread separation from rest of tire. (dot number: w2hl tiresize: p235/75r15).

Departed topsham, me traveling south on I-95. About 1/2 hour outside of manhatten,NY the right rear tire blew out casing the Ford explore to swerve to the right and hitting the guardrail. (dot number: w2hlipy317 tiresize: 235/75/r15).
Consumer had firestone, wilderness tires on truck. While driving had a tire blowout on freeway. Consumer did not hit anything, just heard a big bang.
The front tire blew out causing me to lose control, then both rear tires blew. This seems pretty extreme for tires that had very little tread wear to out and not perform as they should. Even with a trailer attached, the Explorer rolled over and was uncontrollable. The Explorer was equipped with a Ford hitch and the trailer towing package. The weight of the trailer was under the weight specified by Ford, 4990 lbs. This accident should not of happened. (tiresize: p255r75x16)( dot number: tire size: p255r75x16 ).
I was changing lanes to allow on traffic to get on. When my tire blew out causing me to lose control having a roll over accident! (tiresize: 2457516at)( dot number: tire size: 2457516at ).
Original equipment, firestone wilderness at tires, p225/75r16 size dot#: vnhl. Left front tire blewout at highway speeds of 65mph, causing vehicle to swerve off road. Left rear tire blewout, causing vehicle to flip four times, resulting in 2 people receiving minor injuries. Vehicle was totalled.
Tire blew out on driver rear caused near uncontrollable vehicle. (dot number: vdcu1px429 tiresize: 255/70/16).
This tire blew out during normal use while under warranty mileage. . . . There was no puncture found and no sharp object that pierced the tire. A large round hole was found in the middle of the tire. The driver did not hit anything. . It happened during travel on a cleared and clean and dry southern highway. (tiresize: p255/70r16)( dot number: tire size: p255/70r16 ).
2 tire blowouts in less than 6 months is not normal. . . One while driving is unsafe. . The 2nd while parked does not make sense. (dot number: 8xhl ipy tiresize: 235/75r15).

The vehicle 16 inch firestone tires were not included in recall 00t-005 and the consumer was told that the tires were safe, but while driving the right rear tire blewout, the consumer purchased 4 new tires and requests reimbursement (5 firestone wilderness at 255/70r16). Nlm.
While traveling on the freeway, I noticed a slight vibration. A short time later, I felt the vibration again and the tire blew. I was traveling at 60mph. Fortunately, no one was injured. I contacted Ford roadside assistance and they came to exchange the tire with the spare. I then drove the vehicle to a Ford dealer near where I work (magic Ford, valencia, CA). I requested that all five tires be replaced along with the rim on which the tire blew. It was damaged beyond repair. I have received a bill for $1,020. 00 from magic Ford, and do not feel that I should be obligated to have to pay. Although the exact model of tire is not on the recall list, it is obvious that this is clearly a manufacturer's defect. I am in possession of the tire and all surrounding paperwork. (dot number: vncu1px080 tiresize: p255/70r16).
2 tires blew out while driving, and caused truck to lose control, hitting curb. No serious injuries.
My client was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer on an interstate highway when the right front firestone wilderness at tire blew out, causing my client to lose control of the Explorer, rolling over several times. (tiresize: 235/75/r15)( dot number: tire size: 235/75/r15 ).
Right rear tire blow out from side wall seperation at 55 mph in south florida on 11/08/00. Vehicle rented from budget at orlando airport (ra # mcobd1137287). Contact manager at 407-850-6727. ( dot number: ).
Clear, dry roadway, 50 mph, right rear tire blew out. Vehicle performed very stably, I was able to stop and had tire changed. Dealer replaced all 5 tires with goodyears at no charge at my request. Tire looked like it had been sliced through from sidewall to sidewall. I took pictures, not developed. Dealer has tires. (dot number: don't know tiresize: p235/70r16).
On October 4th, 2000 I had my Ford Explorer tires checked for the firestone tire recall. I was told by the Ford service department, and given a service report, that all 5 of my tires passed inspection and were not on the firestone recall. Then on October 11th, 2000 my wife was driving 35 miles an hour in the city when a tire blew out! upon my inspection I found out that all of my tires have cracks on the side walls where the tread is attached. The tire that blew out has the side wall rubber missing in this area around the whole tire. The cords are showing around the side wall! if a qualified Ford service center can't identify a tire problem when they see it, then a lot of people will get killed until the tire problem is solved. My tires should be on recall! (dot number: w2hl1py386 tiresize: p235/75r15).
Rear left tire blow out. (dot number: w2h tiresize: 235/75r/15).
While driving the passenger firestone tire blewout causing damage to the rim, consumer replaced all five tires. Nlm.
Tire blowout on highway. Separation on side. Dealer (firestone) would not cover because it was not a recalled tire yet even though obvious defect. (dot number: 8x?? tiresize: p235/75r15).
I was traveling southbound on hyw 99 on the afternoon of 9/24/2000 around 1:00pm. It was a clear sunny day. I was traveling at an approximate speed of 65 miles per hour in the right lane (slow lane). There were no objects on the freeway. As I was traveling on the freeway, I felt my car begin to fishtail and then all of a sudden my right rear tire came apart. Fortanately, I was in the right lane and was near a shoulder so I was able to manuver and control my vehicle off the freeway to the shoulder. I was able to avoid an accident and there were no injuries. The firestone tire came completely apart. The chp took a report and pictures. My car is only three months old. It is a 2001 Ford Explorer sport. The tire should not have malfunctioned the way it did. The firestone tires are unsafe and I believe the recall should apply to all firestone tires not only the ones that were manufactured at the decatur plant. I was concerned about the firestone tires that were on my vehicle. I contacted the dealership where I purchased my vehicle and they would not return my call. When I did get a hold of someone I was told I was not part of the recall. I had my tires checked by big o tires. They checked the air pressure and it was fine. The dealership now is trying to tell me that road hazard caused my tire to blow out. There was nothing on the road that was a hazard and that would have cause my tire to come apart the way it did. Then they told me that it was because of traveling long distance and having low air pressure in my tire. If traveling 15 miles is long distance then I would hate to see what would happen to the tires if I actually did travel more than 15 miles. I had the air pressure checked in my tires at big o tires and the air pressure was fine. It concerns me that I have a new vehicle and the tire comes apart so soon and it just happens to be a firestone wilderness at. Ford and the dealership I purchased the vehicle at are very uncooperative.
I reported having problems with my tires to pulliam Ford and firestone dealers. I recieved a cold shoulder and a general lack of concern for my situation or my wellfare. Two days later I nearly killed myself on the way to work when my left right tire exploded and came of the rim for no apparent reason. I had my complaint formally documented my Ford motor company's headquaters on 9/12/2000, the blowout occured two days later. I had been experiencing problems sustaining air pressure in all four of my tires weeks previous. I also had my tire inspected for the problem by Ford who told me I had know problem. The tire that blew was not of the type listed on the recall meaning the dot # did not start with vd. I have reported my experience( blowout) to pulliam Ford this morning and recieved once again lack-luster service and a direct refusal to assist me in providing a safe vehicle for mine and my family's disposal. I can only imagine the consequences had I been going faster than 50 miles per hour, up to this point I just wanted a safe vehicle but, now I feel as if well being has been put at risk when it could have been avoided with little cost by these companies in which I invested my faith. Please help!( dot number: ).
We had a tire blow out. With all the news about the firestone, I am concerned that this is related. The fact that there was no injury or accident is very lucky. We were told our tires werent recalled yet because they are 16 inch. I am very concerned, because we have 3 other tires that I do not trust. We travel on a highway and this could have been serious. Our dealership, although friendly, just states that its not part of the recall. Pay for the tire. I am very disappointed. ( dot number: vncu ipx tire size: pz55/70r16 ).
I was driving my 1997 Ford Explorer with firestone tires (not part of current recall) when my front right tire blew out causing me to lose control of the SUV and have the accident( dot number: w2hlipy077 tire size: e4027477 ).
Tire had a blowout at approx. 70 miles per hour. The blow out occurred on the inside side wall just before the tire threads. Car went out of control ,but I managed to get car to the side of the road. (dot number: w2hl tiresize: p235/75r15).
Tire blew out, came completely apart at the seams, could find nothing wrong with the tire afterwards that would have caused this. Reported to both local Ford and firestone about this, and they wouldn't even discuss it since it wasn't one of the "recalls". I believe they all need to be looked into. Call t. V. Station and they have footage of the tire and all. ( dot number: tire size: p255/70r16 ).
Both of these tire blowouts occurred while driving on washboarded gravel roads. No road hazards were found during repair (e. G. No nails or other objects). They appear to have just blown out. ( dot number: w2cu1px446 tire size: p255 70r16 ).
