The contact owns a 1997 Ford f150. The contact stated that when she attempted to refuel the vehicle, fuel would leak out onto the ground. I saw the notice on the F-150's. I just called Ford last week this same thing. They told me due to age and miles on vehicle they could do nothing. It became loose and hanging while pouring gas all over the expressway on sept 3rd. I was very dissatisfied with their response, as I don't feel this should be an issue anyone needs to worry about. My case number with them is [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Check engine light is on due to fuel vapor recovery failure. Caused by piece of plastic breaking out of filler neck. They want $300 to replace.
While driving in neighborhood, went to grocery store, parked the vehicle in driveway, opened the cab door and smoke poured out. Started the car and smelled gas, turned vehicle off. Looked underneath the vehicle and noticed gas leaking. Had the vehicle towed to dealer.
It burns more gas than normal, does not have the pickup or power it needs to have.
Truck is getting poor gas mileage. It is averaging 13 to 14 mpg, although the sticker on the window gives an estimate of-21 mpg. Dealer checked it out, and said nothing was wrong with vehicle.
