Brake Disc Pads problems of the 1998 Ford F-150

Four problems related to brake disc pads have been reported for the 1998 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2001

No warning of brake pads getting low. I took my truck to a mechanic because the front brakes were making a noise. He reported that my brake pads had worn completely away and had damaged the rotors to the point that they had to be replaced. The mechanic said that normally brake pads contained a squeaker device to let you know when the pads are getting low. My Ford factory installed brake pads did not have this.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem

Intermittently when the brakes are applied pedal pulsates, resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer has changed pads and rotors. However, problem still exists. Slc.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem

Brakes fail when depressed, then grab at last second. Dealer performed a brake service consisting of grinding the metallic pads but problem is worse and brakes now groan upon stop.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem

When applying the brakes on dry pavement back brakes grab, but the front brakes do not, causing extended stopping distance. At 22,000 miles the brake pads and rotors were replaced. At 28,000 miles the problem has returned. Please provide any further details.
