Eight problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 1998 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When appyling brakes, brake pad will rub against rotor, causing the rotors to warp. Consumer states while applying brakes, the front right wheel grabbed making a thumping noise causing the surface of the rotor to flake. The flaking chewed the brake pads excessively. Rotors had to replaced.
Consumer states that there is excessive wear of front brake rotors and pads. The rotors have been replaced on four occasions and the pads have been replaced on five occasions and the problem is reoccurring. The dealer has been contacted.
The rear braking system is inoperable which reduced the braking ability and caused an accident. Dealer said it came from the factory with that problem, and there is no solution. Cause unknown. Please provide details.
Consumer said when he was driving his truck and started to put on brakes the brakes locked up on him.
When driving forward and backing up consumer applied the brakes, and noticed everytime applying the brakes there is a squeaking noise.
Brakes experience extended stopping distances.
Brakes are not large enough for the vehicle/failed, resulting in collision.
Brake failure resulted in accident. Yh.
