While making a right hand turn consumer tapped the brakes and felt abs coming on, but vehicle did not slowdown, had to use emergency brakes to stop, it usually happens with a hard turn, consumer felt that if it happened on a busy street someone could had been injured. Consumer stated that the wires which are going from brake to the right front tire, were giving a false reading of a tire lock up.
Proceeded down wet highway at 40 mph. Vehicle ahead slowed. Applied brakes, had full lockup and hit car ahead at est 7 mph speed. Antilock system did not activate at all. Had noticed tis phenomena at stop signs in wet condition before, had checked at dealer, no problem found by technician. I feel that this is a problem associated only with wet road conditions. Software problem rather than mechanical. Am aware of other cases. Although my damage minor, I feel this should be investigated due to potential serious nature of problem.

While driving, I would come up to a stop sign or light and apply the brakes and the left rear brake would lock up. I took it in and they looked at the brakes and said they were ok. I went to leave and it did it again. I went back in and told them that they were still doing it and they said that it was normal for the abs to do that. I went back the next day and they adjusted the brakes and now they do what they are suppose to do. It could be possible that one of the self adjusters might not be working.
I took the truck in and the service consultant said that the brakes were working normally eventhough the rear ones did lock up at 20 m. P. H. Or slower when leaving the parking lot of their lot.

While driving in town and approaching a stop sign or light, applied brakes, left rear wheels locked up and vehicle slid. Contacted dealer, they cleaned the brakes, and couldn't find any problem. While leaving the lot, vehicle started to do the same thing. Service consultant said that wheels were supposed to lock up when wet. For now problem has been solved by making adjustments to the rear brakes.

Truck anti lock brakes lock up when ever it rains or gets wet. Dealer attempted to fix 4 times, still lock up.
While traveling in the right hand lane, I noticed an abandoned vehicle in the road ahead of me. I attempted to slow down and pull behind the vehicle to my right to avoid a collision. When my truck did not noticeably begin to slow, I attempted to bring my truck to a complete stop. I increased pressure on th brake pedal. The truck began very difficult to control and slowly began to decrease speed. After approx 100 yds I felt the brakes began to grab and was pulled forward against the seat belt. I had already traveled an excessive distance, and once the brakes began to work there was nto enough space left to bring my vehicle to a complete stop. This resulted in my truck ramming into the abonded vehicle at 5-15 mph.
On-going/intermittent problem with abs brakes locking up during 5 mph or more; condition was reported to manufacturer. But nothing can be done at this time. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter.

Brakes locked up, and vehicle rear ended sideways. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that the problem could not be duplicated.
The dealer has addressed the brake issue by turning rotors/drums. 10,000 miles later im having the same problem, there seems to be a problem with braking equalization from front to rear. The rear brakes have yet to show signs of wear. Overall the vehicle is running good but it appears the few on going problems are going to cost me after warranty is over.

Ongoing / intermittent problem when applying brakes in a sudden stop / emergency situation, it causes rear wheels to lock up. Vehicle been in dealer shop on two occasions, and problem still reoccurring. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.
Two months after I purchased the vehicle, I noticed when on icy, snowy, or similar slippery surfaces, the anti-lock braking system "locked-up" and did not "anti-lock" as designed. This is evidenced by my rear-end sliding around sideways and no reverse brake petal pressure. I had previously owned a vehicle that had anti-lock brakes and the brake petal would push against my foot and make a vibrating noise when activated. This does not occur on this vehicle. Also, when the vehicle is cold, all four brakes will lock up when any petal pressure is applied--especially at low speeds such as pulling out of my driveway or out of a parking lot. This was brought to the attention of the Ford dealer nearest my residence (not the dealer I originally purchased the truck) on two separate occasions. The first time I took it in was at my 30,000 mile check-up about 10 months after I purchased the vehicle (August 27, 1998). They checked brakes and noted on the service invoice "could not verify. " the second time I took it in was about 7 months later (March 8, 1999) after the winter season was over and had them check the system and no service was noted or performed. I took at face value that when they said nothing was wrong that there wasn't anything wrong. However, anti-lock brakes are not something that you can check year round but rather only when the pavement is slippery. They said they checked them by putting heavy pressure on the brakes and then pressing the gas pedal and ruled out failure of the abs. I am here to tell you that even today, they still lock-up and do not function properly. I can send you photocopies of the service invoices if needed.
On April 2, 2000 while traveling on the parks hwy. This vehicle accelerated & continued to accelerate out of the driver's control. The brakes were applied heavily for three quarters of a mile or more in order to slow the vehicle & find a place to pull to the side and attempt to turn the vehicle off. Once this was achieved, the vehicle restarted normally. Nye Ford service dept. Was contacted & a pcv kit was installed by that dealership on April 19, 2000. On August 13, 2002 this vehicle again accelerated & continued to accelerate out of the driver's control. The same procedure was used to stop t he vehicle. The vehicle started normally on the fourth attempt. During the first 3 attempts to restart the vehicle, the engine was revving out of control.
