One problem related to automatic transmission torque converter has been reported for the 2000 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2000 Ford F-150 based on all problems reported for the 2000 F-150.
The torque converter in this vehicle locks up without warning. The problem is intermittent. The problem manifests while cruising and while at stop. When problem happens at stop, the car will lurch forward and kill engine. Stopping distance in increased when event occures during cruise. Incident occurred at near pedestrians and nearly caused collision. Incident occured in parking lot and caused slight bumber impact with stop post. Ford will not fix problem because no error codes are generated by the event, and cannot be duplicated by dealer. I am formally seeking appropriate remedy to have torque converter replaced. I am baffled by Ford's lack of concern and unwillingness to fix a low cost warrantied component. I will have unit reparied by independent mechanic if Ford continues to refuse. I will gladly submit failed unit to NHTSA for your analysis. Thanks for your support.
