1 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2013

I own a 2004 Ford f150 4-door p/u. Over the past several years three of the four window in my Ford f150 have fallin at different times ( window regulator ). Ford refused to pay for the repair and I was told they know about the problem, however, were not going to issue a recall. This week my 4th window regulator broke causing the window to fall again while in a shopping center parking lot. I advised Ford this was unsafe and how can anyone secure a vehicle with faulty window regulators. Someone could lose control of their vehicle if this occurs during driving and this issue should be addressed.

2 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2013

Got into vehicle, started, and immediately loud popping sounds came from under the engine, and worse when put into reverse. Luckily had 2 hobby mechanics, that I work with, come take a look. They immediately determined that one of my spark plugs had backed-out. They took the cover off and determined it was the 1st spark plug, and luckily the threads were in good shape. Put spark plug back in, and vehicle started fine after that. I travel 45 miles one way to/from work. If this happens again, could leave me stranded. 2nd luck, no repair cost. I can only imagine what the dealer would have charged. In addition, 2 weeks later, I had the 3rd (2 previous were in front right & rear driver window) out of 4 door windows fall into the door. This time it was the driver's front door - regulator assembly. Loud bang before they fell. Scared me - thought someone had thrown a large rock at my vehicle. This is the 3rd to fail within 8 months (last 2 on the same day in July 2012). Total repair cost on windows was $900. 00. There is still no recall on the spark plug problem, and the regulator assembly problems, although hundreds, if not thousands, have had the same problem. I contacted Ford for complaint & reimbursement, and received no response. It's very obvious, it's time to do something about this!.

3 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2012

Driver side power window, this is the forth time I have to have window repair on my truck, previous time before last one, was in July only 4 months ago I had to pay almost $300 to repair window, and now last time paid $425 dollars to repair that very same window and this time is the window regulator. Window will make a loud noise and drop, unable to bring it up or closed again.

4 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2012

Two weeks prior to now I had to replace the whole track assembly for the window on the driver's side. Driving down the highway, the window just fell into the door panel. This could of resulted in a serious accident because of the window just falling! two days ago, the same thing happened to the passenger side window. The windows going down when you are not expecting it is scary. These windows unexpectedly going down can result in an accident. I feel that there is an engineering defect in these window systems. I have both original Ford parts that came out of the door panels. I called Ford, but they told me they can not do anything about this.

5 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2011

I have had 2 of my window regulators go out and I have been doing some research and found out that this is a common problem. Something needs to be done about this it causes a safety risk since I have kids and when these windows shatter the glass gets everywhere. I have noticed that the same slider on both regulators broke in the same place. Please do something about this before someone's kid or my kids get hurt. Thank you.

6 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2011

In June 2011, right passenger window dropped into the door. Had to replace window regulator assembly. The same happened in the left passenger window in October 2011, and that window regulator had to be replaced. Told by the dealer that this is common.

7 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2010

I have a Ford f150 since new and continue to have problems with my windows - this is a 2004 fx4 model crew cab / with p/w . I have installed three power window switches now and today had my right rear window fall open when driving - with a very loud crash / bang noise - I thought someone hit me in the next lane and almost swerved to avoid a empty lane / I could have hit someone else or caused injury / this problem is very common I am finding out and yet Ford wont help. . . . If someone dies then maybe. . . .

8 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2010

Recall 2004 Ford F-150 power window regulators. Rear drivers passenger window fell down while parked. The third window down in the last 15 months.

9 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2010

2004 Ford F-150 power window regulator fails on both windows. One failed while I was driving and the other failed while the truck was parked. I understand there are allot of complaints of this happening but,yet you have not forced Ford to correct this problem.

10 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2010

I own a 2004 f 150 4 door supercrew and all 4 windows regulators have failed on their own. I had three fail within days of each other about a year ago. Now, today the fourth one failed. Each time one failed I was driving down the highway at 65 mph and the window slams down scaring the heck out of me. Luckily I've been able to maintain control of my truck. The problem is always the steel cable gets kinked up on its own and snaps or kinks up so bad it can not be reused. Each time its a 300 dollar fix so when I replace this last one I'll be about 1200 dollars out. I finally looked on the internet and found out that this problem is common and Ford will not own up to their responsibility. I don't know it this is a design flaw by Ford or the supplier to Ford that makes the window regulator but I do know there has been no recall and that you cannot buy the parts you need except at Ford parts dealers only. Since Ford doesn't seem to care to fix this problem I am never buying another Ford.

11 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2010

This is unbelievable that Ford can get away with these junk regulators on my 2004 Ford f150 supercrew !!!!! my daughter was looking out over the rear window holding on to it, and laughing at me while I was washing the truck when the [xxx] thing just broke causing her to fall and hit her face off the door panel !!! then I go online and find 1000's of complaints that Ford won't do anything about, so now I have to repair this at my own expense. Ford needs to replace these before someone else gets hurt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

12 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2010

I have a 2004 Ford F-150 lariat supercrew 4 door truck. Each of the past 3 years I've had 3 window regulators break. To the day they are still not fixed because of cost issues, almost $200 each not including the $140 labor bill. What breaks is the plastic part that the cable is connected to. The first 2 window regulators broke quietly while the 3rd one made 2 loud pops and the window fell down. It is now winter and I hope the 4th and final window doesn't break. The Ford service department told me they are sold as a whole unit, motor, track and cable. The motors don't go bad, the plastic piece in the track breaks. Currently I have plastic pvc pipe propping the window up on the 3 windows. Very much an inconvenience when you drive up to a drive thru window and never know when your windows going to give out.

13 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2010

Power window regulators have a faulty plastic piece in them causing the window to just drop unexpectantly. I have read in some cases the window breaks. I have had two bad regulators go out now in an 8 week period and have a four door truck. I'm sure the other two are soon to follow.

14 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2010

I'm not the first to report this problem and surely won't be the last; I was on my lunch break when I pushed the button to roll down my passenger side rear window then pow it happened. Yep, the[xxx] window fell inside the door. I proceeded to roll up the window, but only heard a grinding noise inside the door. Sound familiar?? the window will not roll up and is stuck in the open position. Ford says it will cost 400 or so dollars it costs to fix it. I'm going to hold out 'til Ford realizes they've mass produced a buncha [xxx] parts and has a recall on them! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

15 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2010

18 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2010

2004 f150 rear window wire failure caused the window to stay down. The wind at 65 mph makes the vehicle vibrate with the window stuck down.

19 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2010

2004 Ford F-150 crew cab rear passenger window regulator failure and window shattering inside door. Drivers side rear window regulator failed and was replaced several months ago. 20 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2010

2004 Ford F-150 truck window regulator failures. Recently, my driver's side window made a load popping sound, then fell into the door. I brought it into my Ford dealership who informed me that this is a common problem where the regulator fails. The repair cost was $400. After doing some research, I've found hundreds of other cases where the 2004 F-150 model had window regulator failures. Please advise.

21 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2010

I own a 2004 Ford f150. Last Saturday we attempted to roll down electric window on passenger side rear. It made a clicking sound and window came crashing down. This left my vehicle vulnerable to rain or theft all weekend. Just two months ago we had same problem with front passenger window when on our way to vacation destination. We had to replace power window regulator for cost of $300 plus labor?!?!? looking online I have found many other complaints of same model vehicle with same issues.

22 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2010

2004 Ford f150 window regulators. Driving home at night window started lowering itself. No way to secure truck that night. Took apart window and removed regulator. The part of the window that secures glass is a combination of metal and plastic the plastic piece secures the cables that are attached to the power window motor. These plastic pieces are under too much stress and then either begin cracking or break altogether. This causes the cable to be unsecured thus causing the window glass to no longer have support. There are one of two easy fixes for this problem that I can see,or maybe three. The first is to redesign the part without the use of plastic. Number two is to offer this particular piece separate because it actually can be remove without any problem from the window tracks and offer it as an alternative repair part for those who are mechanically inclined to repair it themselves,or have a recall on these regulators. I believe if a recall was offered on these regulators the fix would be the removable alternative part. Too keep from having continuing recalls the part should be all metal or upgrade the plastic somehow although all metal would be better. If a recall is offered ,dealers will want the small removable part as the fix I'm almost sure of. In the mean time I will have to search for the complete regulator with or without motor which is becoming difficult because most parts companies want to sell the complete assembly or in my case don't offer the rear window regulator which forces us too have to go too Ford and pay in excess of 200 dollars for the part and labor for those who are not mechanically inclined. Anyway if door glass is falling and shattering this is a safety issue and because this can happen in extreme weather. Also the vehicle cannot be secured causing theft to rise and thus insurance rates too rise also. Tell Ford to fix the problem. Thank you for this link.

23 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2010

2004 f 150 supercrew window came crashing down. After long research many paying Ford customers have this problem, real safety issue. So please recall these vehicles. Ford is gouging us on the price for fixing there problem. Thanks.

24 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2010

I have a 2004 Ford F-150. Over the last two years I have had to replace three of the four power window regulators. Just this last week the fourth one broke. I have spent approximately $250-$350 each time. I also have a father-in-law with the same year Ford F-150 who has experienced the same issues. He has replaced three of the four, and knows it is just a matter of time before his fourth goes out. I have talked with the head mechanic at the local Ford dealership and he says he is replacing them all the time and that Ford should have issued a recall on them, but has not done so. I have found that several thousand other people have had the same issues with this year model. I am very disappointed in Ford that they know there is and has been a problem with these parts and have not helped out their customers. This will and has already helped in my future discussions on purchasing another Ford vehicle.

25 Power Window problem

29 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2010

Two window regulator's broken in 6 days, I am only one of over 800 complaints on this website alone. . Just think about how many thousands there must be that just go to the dealer and never take the time to go online to complain. I can see that Ford as well as NHTSA has no plans to correct this safety issue. If someone knows of a good class action lawsuit lawyer let me know. I think we must need someone to die in an accident related to this issue before anything will be done. I should have never left Toyota, I had three different Toyota trucks and never saw a shop other than for an oil change. My 04 f150 had a transmission failure at 75,000 on the dot. . I have put over $5,000 of maintenance into my truck in the four years I have owned it.

30 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2010

2004 Ford f150 motor regulator failure on all 4 windows over the course of 2 years, after mfg warranty has expired. Window suddenly falls into the door, leaving the glass portion down, and open to weather or theft. I've had 2 fall while driving, and 2 fall at night, while the truck was parked outside, leaving it open to theft of the car or contents. Each window repair exceeds $400. The info in this complaint reflect the most recent window failure, which is window #4 since I have owed this truck. Also, all electric window switches in the car have failed and needed to be replaced.

31 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2010

2004 Ford F-150 this is the third time three separate incidents where my windows first the passenger rear window then the drive window now its the passenger on the drive side all occurred within a year had two windows replaced at a whooping $450 at a Ford dealer.

32 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2010

My Ford F-150 drivers window popped extremely loud and fell into the door. I was driving on the highway when this took place and it made me jerk the wheel because I thought another car had hit me. I have done some research on this and it appears this is a systemic problem with Ford. I would consider this a serious safety issue with the Ford product. The window just falls for no reason and apparently the dealer is taking advantage of the situation and over charging. According to the web discussions, countless complaints have been made with Ford and ntsb over this issue. This makes both organizations liable because of notifications made. Ignorance is not an excuse! this is not an isolated issue but systemic with Ford. Just read some of the stories posted and you will be alarmed at the incidents. As always, until a deaths are recorded, this matter will be shelved. The consumer should be recognized since we are the ones paying for the products and supporting business. I will also being posting this on the nbc news website as well.
