1 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2012

I was driving on the interstate at 65 mph when all of a sudden my window disappeared startling me. I had my kids in the car who were frightened by the gush of wind. It surprised me and I was not certain what happened my window was just gone on the drivers side. The window had fallen into the door. Apparently after my research I learned that Ford has had many problems with its window regulators failing causing this issue. This is extremely dangerous and could cause a serious accident. I hope for before it is too late and harm is done that Ford will own up to this problem and have recall to repair the window mechanism that fails. If Ford does not do anything than NHTSA should.

2 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

The driver and passanger window regulator failure driverside window came crashing down when I was driving down the highway on 12/01/11 all I heard was a loud pop then no window almost wrecked cause of the sound then a week later the passanger side window did the same thing but after I tried to put the window up after I got back home the dealer states that there still are no recalls on this issue after all the complaints I read online that goes back 5yrs why isnt no one doing anything about this problem.

3 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2011

There are over 450 complaints listed here is mine I own a 2004 Ford f150 and have had 3 window regulator failures, 2 while driving. The dangerous one was on the drivers side at night during a rain storm. Ford dealer states he replaces 1-2 a week but is not yet a recall. He says it wont get a recall until someone dies. I think it is a known dangerous problem that Ford needs to take care of but wont until a recall is mandatory. Please recall this problem before "someone dies" and "only then" mandates a recall. Thank you for your time.

4 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Second power window regulator has failed now in the last two weeks. In both cases, the window suddenly dropped completely while I was driving on the highway at highway speeds.

5 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2011

Power window regulator failure on passenger side window of 2004 Ford 150 crew cab. The window fails without warning and falls down inside of the door. This can be a problem if the failure occurs during inclement weather or while driving as it did with my truck. Used a wood brace to hold window up with plastic to cover in case of rain and duct tape until parts arrived. No window visibility and possible theft problems. I park my truck outside at work and leave the work area so I never know what condition my truck will be in or if it will still be there when I return at the end of the day. Until I have the part and time to fix this, I'm not sure what could happen.

6 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2011

The contact owns a 2004 Ford f150 sd. The contact stated that all four of the window regulators failed, causing the windows to become lodged into the door panel. The dealer was contacted who advised that the window regulators would need replacing. There were no recalls and for the failure. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 176,123.

7 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

I have had my second window regulator failure on my Ford f150 2004 supercrew. This auto only has 80,000 miles and this has happened twice in 6 months. I feel this is dangerous and they need to be recalled before someone gets hurt or property damage.

8 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2010

The drivers window regulator failed while driving, and the window came crashing down. I was not using or adjusting the window in any way prior to failure. The weather was cold and wet leaving water damage to the interior and causing difficulty driving in the adverse conditions. I was not dressed to be in 60 mph cold blasting air and my hands were having problems steering. The dealer did not accept responsibility for this. Ford contacted me and accepted responsibility but only wanted to pay for 50% of the repair cost. This is not acceptable. My vehicle has very low miles and is in like new condition. After investigating the issue with the regulator, I was amazed that there are many thousands of Ford owners with this same issue. And '04-08 f150's have the vast majority of complaints about this problem. Many have had multiple windows fail. I had to replace the regulator myself as the costs to get this done is over $500 at the dealer, and over $400 at a repair shop. When I removed the regulator I was shocked at how poorly the parts were made. The design looks to be flawed as well. Clips that can fall off. Cables that can fall off small plastic wheels. And the power motor reels two cables up together. This is going to bind up and fail in a very short period of time. The motor reel had both cables tangled when I pulled it out. It appears to be designed to fail. This is a very heavy piece of glass, and the mechanism supporting this assembly is completely insufficient. It is obvious that it was not designed for extended use.

9 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2010

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-150. The contact stated that all the window regulators were failing. The first to fail was on the passenger front window and the driver rear side was failing. The windows dropped down and made a grinding noise when she attempted to roll it up. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where the first regulator was replaced. The manufacturer had not been notified. The current mileage was approximately 125,000. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

10 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2010

2004 Ford F-150 power window regulator failed while driving causing the drivers side window to violently fall from the top (closed) position to the bottom (open) position of the door panel. Weather was raining and causing not only driving issues but parking issues as well being unable to leave the vehicle in fear of theft or damage.

11 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2010

Hello I own a 2004 f150 I was driving and my drivers side window slid down for no reason I researched the problem and found that this is a common problem among 2004 f150 trucks the window regulator has a plastic part that fails I was lucky that it was a clear day if I had been driving in snow or other heavy inclement weather I would have been in trouble is this agency investigation this issue? I have been told that eventually all four of my windows will fail sincerely gordon makimoto.

12 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2010

2004 f150 SC window regulator failure. I am on my third regulator in the drivers door now. Yesterday I found the passenger window down and I have the truck in Ford dealership now for repair. I have started using the old reliable "club" on the steering wheel to keep from having my truck stolen when the window regulator breaks and the window is down allowing anyone to enter my truck even when I have closed all the windows and locked it when I exit.

13 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2010

I own a 2004 Ford f150 and have had 3 window regulator failures, 2 while driving. The dangerous one was on the drivers side at night during a rain storm. 14 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

Drivers side window regulator failed, window 'fell' while vehichle in motion. Electric window now is inoperable. Ford will not fix under warr, or recall. Part if very expensive and not a re-designed part, still original equip, faulty design. I cannot and willnot put the same type of part back in, so my window has been made to stay in the upright position. I believe it's a saftey hazzard to not be able to havea functioning window. And there are three other window that could fail at any moment.

15 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2010

2004 Ford F-150 super-crew. I was turning left on a major intersection. Heard a loud crack and my driver-side window fell from sight. It startled me enough to make me swerve. Window regulator failure. Incident date - July 27, 2010 repair is expensive. Searching for a cheaper option than the dealer. I have concern of this happening again.

16 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2010

2004 Ford F-150 drivers door window regulator suddenly failed and window fell down inside the door without any way to put window back up while driving down the road. Of course it was raining. After taking door apart I was able to get the window 3/4 of the way up but could not get it to go all of the way. 65k miles on truck. After doing research on this I guess that I was lucky that it lasted as long as it did. Looks like that Ford has a design problem with this part and should be recalled. Definitely a safety hazard when it fails and you can't get or keep window up.

17 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2010

Passenger side window regulator failed, causing window to come crashing down in a rain storm with children in the rear. Upon research I have learned that this is not an isolated problem, yet Ford chooses to ignore it.

18 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2010

Failed window regulator. Actually the third over 1 year. First the drivers side window regulator failed, plastic slide became brittle, cable broke away and smacked the inside of the door hard enough that it scared me. . . I thought I had been shot at by a gun! did not lose control of the vehicle but if I had been in congested traffic, I might have. That was may 30, 2009. Exactly one month later on June 30, 2009 the passenger side front door window dropped out of sight while driving along. Today 6/29/2010, the third window drops out of sight on the driver's side rear door of my fx4. This time, it was raining. I had to drive home and cover the vehicle to avoid more water damage.

19 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2010

I have had all 4 window regulators fail in my 2004 F-150 super crew. One of the 4, fell slowly, but the other three dropped suddenly and violently, causing a me to be startled while driving. Thankfully no accident occurred in any of the 4 incidents. However, two of the incidents occurred in below freezing weather and a rain storm, creating unsafe driving conditions until I could get the vehicle to the dealership for repair. Ford is aware of this problem and refuses to accept responsibility for the defective regulators. They claim it is not a safety issue and there has not been a recall. I beg to differ whether it is a safety issue. The window has dropped suddenly while I was driving, sounding as if the window was shattered. Being startled while driving is a safety concern as well as possibly having to drive with the window dropped in adverse weather conditions.

20 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2010

The 3rd window regulator in my Ford 150 has failed. All have dropped while driving down a road. Two on a freeway. I have small children and don't need them that close to an open window. I have had two regulators replaced in the past 1. 5 years and now need to have another one replaced!.

21 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2010

2nd window regulator failure in 2 months. Windows came crashing down both times while driving on city streets. Expensive repairs for a small defective part.

22 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2010

Right side window fell into door while driving, im told the window regulator failed. . . . . . Two months after my extended warranty expired.

23 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2010

I own a 2004 f150 and had the driver's side power window regulator fail on my truck as have thousands of other people from what I am reading online. I was traveling 65 miles per hour when my window fell into my door. The day prior I rolled my window up at the post office and heard a crunching or cracking sound as the window reached the top. I too did not think much of it until my window fell in. To correct the problem I paid a Ford dealership in loveland, colorado $400 to replace the damaged parts in my door. The old part is no longer available as I assume they threw it away. I believe this to be a major safety hazard as at 65 miles per hour in a driving wind a lot of dust/dirt debris entered my truck until I got pulled over on the highway. Luckily I did not get anything in my eyes. Ford should be forced to recall these regulators and refund peoples expense that have already fixed this.

24 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2009

While driving on freeway, left rear window regulator failed and window glass fell from the closed position with a loud boom. As a result of the loud crashing of the falling window glass at freeway speeds combined with the sudden and violent gust of wind and debris into the cab nearly caused me to loose control, and roll over. This is the third incident I have experienced with window regulator failure on this truck.

25 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2009

Driver side window fell into door. Window no longer operative. Window regulator failed at plastic connector.

26 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2009

12/2008 - passenger's rear window regulator failed allowing window to fall down. 6/24/2009 - driver's rear window regulator failed allowing window to fall down. 6/26/2009 - driver's front window regulator failed and window fell rapidly into door. Noise caused scare that made driver swerve almost colliding with vehicle in adjoining lane. 12/2008 replaced unit. 6/2009 - no repairs made yet.

27 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2009

Passenger window regulator failed for the second time, window slammed and almost caused an accident while driving. Drivers one replaced 5 months ago. Now being told that the rear two are "going out" as well and need to be replaced. Dealership recognizes that there is a problem with these regulators, called Ford customer relationship center and all they would do was offer me a $750 gift card if I agree to buy a new Ford truck in the next 30 days. Are they kidding!!! I have always owned Ford trucks, but am going to look at the new tundra now as I can see that Ford does not stand behind their products, so much for being built Ford tough. . . . .

28 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2009

2004 Ford f150, 40k miles. Driving down road, hear loud pop, then the drivers side window fell into the door. Luckily glass did not shatter. Determined that window regulator had failed causing the problem (loud pop then window falling into door). Subsequent search of this failure indicated it is quite common. Federal government should require Ford to issue a recall to proactively replace these defective parts. Could cause driver to suddenly lose control of vehicle.

29 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2009

Window regulator failure in both front windows in the last 6 months.

30 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2008

I opened the driver's side front door of my 2004 Ford F-150 with only 27,000 miles on the odometer and I heard a clunk sound in the door. The window was no longer in place and had fallen into the door. Took the door panel off and confirmed that the window regulator had failed prematurely. It should last a whole lot longer than it did. I read online that this is a widespread problem, latent defect in the design, and Ford will not fix it once the vehicle is out of its basic warranty. I need Ford to recall the vehicle to fix this latent defect.

31 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2008

Drivers side window regulator failed, cable snapped and the window fell into the door. Replaced, cost me $350. Right side rear just failed, haven't repaired as of yet. From the sounds of it I should expect more failures. This isn't right!! does someone need to get hurt before action is taken to have this issue recalled?.

32 Window Regulator Failed problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2008

I have had 2 window regulators fail on my vehicle within 2 months. The regulators have been on separated windows but both have been on the drivers side. At any given moment the cable snaps and the window falls down into the door. My first instance was the end of July while on a road trip. Now it is the beginning of October and my rear window dropped into the door frame with 57k miles on my vehicle. I do have an extended warranty; however, why should I pay a deductible everytime a faulty part breaks. Not to mention there are many people that don't have extended warranties. There are several reports of this happening. I have 2 windows left. Should I expect those cable to break at any given moment? should we expect to replace all window regulators every 50k miles? Ford need to recall this faulty part! it is scary and potentially dangerous to have the window fall down all of the sudden when you are driving down the interstate. When the window falls down there is no way to get it back up. Everything in the vehicle starts to blow around and you can't see. I can't imagine what it would be like if it were raining when the regulator cable breaks. I appreciate any help you can provide.

33 Window Regulator Failed problem
