Driving down my street the window just crashed down! it fell so fast and hard that I had to look to my right side to see what hit me! at that point I rear ended a car that slowed down! all this is do to a cheap plastic clip that failed and released the window.
Replaced two window regulators in vehicle. Driver's windown and passenger window.
Was driving down the road at approximately 55 mph and the left driver's side window came crashing down. I thought a rock was coming through the window and almost went off the road.
This report is for the second failed window regulator for my 2004 Ford F-150 fx4 driver side. These repairs are costly and highly reported. This is a safety hazard especially if this would have occurred while the vehicle was in motion a the time of failure. Surprising little action has been taken on this issue. . .
F150 2004 windows driver side and passenger side window both fell on the same day. I have them propped up at this time. I can not believe there is not a recall on this danger. Both windows same day!.
Rising driver side window. The driver side window was being raised, it stop approx 3/4 way up, after traveling appox 2 miles at 30 mph the window lower. The Ford dealer replaced the window regulator.
While driving on the interstate the drivers side window, without warning, fell down into the door. I heard a popping sound and the window disappeared. I feel this is a safety issue because of the sudden distraction could have caused me to loose control of the vehicle. I looked at your web site and discovered this a common problem with this truck and believe Ford should be required to address the issue.
No event leading to event. The right window lower on its own while traveling on interstate at approx 65mph. The window regulator was replaced at Ford dealer @ cost of $235.

Door window will not operate up or down.
While driving on the highway my driverside widow came crashing down causing me to fishtail into the right lane causing other cars to slam on their brakes luckily no one was hurt. When I called Ford and some other mechanics they said allot of people had the same problem and its probably going to happen again to the other window. But there's no recall because its not a emission or safety problem. ??? windows falling while driving on the hwy not a safety concern. Well im just gonna have to keep paying $400 for window regulators to keep my family safe. . . .

The dealer advised the contact to notify the manufacturer of the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact that t was a known failure; however, did not offer any assistance. The rear window passenger side of my 2004 F-150 lairet super cab came crashging down after a loud pop which startled my wife driving our grand daughter home from school with our three year old grandson sitting in the rear passenger seat in a car seat securly bucked which caused her to leave the road way.
2004 f150 window regulator and nylon clip defective. 2 of 4 windows have come crashing down scratching the tint and Ford dealer charging out the repair to my extended warranty. These window regulators are obviously defective and the dealer or manf. Has done nothing to resolve. Safety hazard.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving various speeds the right passenger side window suddenly fell inside the door and he was unable to close it . The vehicle was not inspected by the dealer nor had it been repaired. This failure occurred on the drivers side window one year prior and was inspected by a dealer who stated that the failure was due to a defective window regulator and needed to be replaced. The drivers side window regulator was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
My girlfriend & I were driving our 2004 Ford F-150 on the freeway going about 70 mph when we heard a really startling, loud bang & saw my drivers side window slam down into the door. I thought someone was shooting at the truck or something & swerved into other lanes in a panic. We were almost in a serious accident because of it. After taking the door panel off & seeing all the wire cables hanging there & broken plastic pieces I did some research & found thousands of complaints about the same thing. This is a safety issue for us & others. We were fortunate enough to not be injured or injure anybody else. From what I have read, we should expect it to happen again which really bothers me. We have 3 small children & if this had happened or happens again when they are in the car & we get into an accident, we all could get seriously injured or even killed. This is completely unacceptable & needs to be recalled immediately. Ford needs to be held accountable for putting out faulty parts before someone gets hurt or killed. We know there is a problem, why hasn't anybody done anything about it is beyond me though. And to add insult to injury they are asking over $400 per window to replace with the same faulty part. I'm not positive, but I believe it will happen to my passenger side window soon too because it has not worked right since the first couple weeks I bought my truck, not even a full year ago & its been making noises. Recall immediately please!.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the front passenger side window fell into the door. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
While driving around 55 mph, front passenger window fell into the door with a loud slam. Unable to use the window controls to raise the window. This is the 4th different window in this vehicle and final window to go within a year and a half. This is a 2004 Ford f150 supercrew and the dealer states it is the window regulator as was the case in the other window failures. They say the regulator part (small plastic piece) that fails is normal wear and tear, however they no longer make that part, they have changed manufactures and the new part should not do this. The motor and the regulator are still good, however you must purchase both of these in order to get the new plastic piece, which is now an all inclusive part around 200. 00 at dealer.
In 2009 I had a window regulator replaced in the rear of my 2004 f150 fx4 behind the passenger seat this year in June the rear window regulator behind the driver had to be replaced, and now in November the rear passenger regulator has again failed in less that 18 months. In both instances they were replaced under a warranty I bought at hall Ford in newport news and paid each time a $100 deductible to have it repaired. I find it unreasonable that a part would fail three time in 17 months and since Ford is the only company that makes the part I can find I have no choice but to get another Ford branded part that I feel will just once again fail on me. There are many complaints on this on not only forums, but the NHTSA has received many reports of this issue. After contacting Ford directly and getting canned responses that there is "no recall" "no programs" and "no warranty". I feel as if there is an issue with either the design of the part or the materials used in the manufacturing of the part that is causing some kind of fault resulting in the failure and ultimately the replacement of the window regulator with a Ford part only of the same design.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford f150. While driving approximately 50 mph, the front driver side window suddenly dropped into the door panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised that the window track inside the door needed to be replaced. The failure later recurred on the front passenger side window and rear driver side window. The front driver and passenger side window tracks were replaced. The rear driver side window tracks were not replaced. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-150 heritage. While driving 50 mph, the driver side window fell into the door. The vehicle slid down as if it had been rolled down but with more force. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileages were 46,952.
I have a 2004 Ford F-150 and all my windows have fail the first window fall down when the truck was 50,000 miles or less the other windows fail on the next 25,000 miles now my truck has 80,000 miles and is out of warranty and today 11-6-2010 again one more window fall down the track and don't go up.
About 2 years ago my drivers side window in my f150 fx4 went down and out. Didn't think much of it, now my passenger rear window is just grinding gears. My truck only has 48k on it and is well serviced. After reading several complaints I decided to put mine in since this is crazy. This should be a recall issue, it might not cause death but Ford and parts stores aren't open 24/7 so you have a wide open truck to steal or steal your belongings while you window is down.
The power window assembly failed while driving 65mph on the interstate with my 10 month old english lab. I heard a loud "pop" and the window dropped. Luckily it did not shatter, but my dog of course went for the window as most puppy's do. He climbed over my lap to the drivers side window nearly causing me to crash before I could get him back in place and get the truck pulled over and slowed down safely. I didn't realize that this was such an issue until I took the door panel off and saw the mangled cable and broken plastic pieces in the door. I started researching it via the internet, landing me here. It looks like the repair will cost approx. 300. 00-500. 00 per window. I simply can't afford that in today's economic climate. This is a very dangerous issue. . . Please help get the vehicle's that use the "flawed" window assembly's recalled before people really are hurt and/or killed.
2004 Ford f150 crew cab front window fell in door almost caused a accident because my wife and son were in the truck during rain storm . This is the third time I have had to fix the windows on this truck.
Driving on highway my wife heard a pop then about half hour later the passenger window just drops down into the door cavity. Found out on the internet that it is a recurring problem with the Ford pickup window regulator mechanism that is defective. Took vehicle into a window repair shop and he diagnosed it needing a new window regulator replacement installed. He patched us up to get us home for now, its a holiday weekend and so no possibility of getting the part fast and we are away from home visiting relatives.
My window regulator gave out for the 3rd time this year I cant afford to pay $200+ dollars to replace a part that wont be sold with out motor so that they can charge more on my 2004 Ford f150 supercrew. . . . .
I purchased a used 2004 F-150 truck 3-months ago and it was parked in the driveway for 2-days. Upon opening the driver door I noticed the passenger window was in the down position and would not raise. My Ford dealer indicated the plastic parts on the regulator had failed and dropped the window inside the door. I don't understand why. Noone was opening or closing the passenger door or attempting to raise or lower the window. Had this happened while the vehicle was moving or next to a passenger, the results could have been catastrophic. When I park and lock my truck, I don't expect the windows to fall out or down into the doors. This then becomes a personal safety issue and provides an opportunity for theft or vandalism of the vehicle. The plastic parts are obviously cheaper to use and not engineered for the stresses on them or the weight of the window. I'm out $458. 00 in repair bills for a single window repair. Two Ford service advisors I spoke with said they had never heard of the problem on a Ford. It's all over the internet but they have no knowledge of the problem? there should either be a formal recall or Ford should make the repairs at no cost and substitute metal clips and parts rather than using plastic. Reimbursement for past repairs should also be included. I'm thankful my vehicle was neither robbed or vandalized and that I discovered the problem before the storm hit my area. Undiscovered, there could have been serious interior water damage in addition to the window repair.
2004 Ford F-150 driver's side window popped loudly and snapped down to fully open position.
2004 Ford f150. Electric windows will fall down into doors. Passenger and driver side window have fallen within 5 months. 32,000 miles. Have to replace cables that hold windows.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-150. The contact stated that both rear window regulators were broken. He replaced one previously at his own expense and now the other one was broken. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 38,000.
I parked my 04 f150 in a public parking lot, locked it, and shut the door. I heard a popping sound, turned around and my drivers side passenger window was down. I opened the passenger door, and the window had fallen down in the door. I tried to roll it up and it did nothing but make a grinding noise. From what I've read, it has happened to countless Ford pick ups. I can't afford to fix yet, so I have a piece of wood wedged in the door to hold the window in place. There really should be a recall on this defect.
