I bought this truck in 2015 had 120,000 miles on it now problems after 5,000 miles I noticed a knocking in the engine and the whole truck will begin to shake after a few miles down the road. This started at 125,000 miles. I would have to turn the truck off and turn it back on, while at a stop light. Just recently my wife and I took a trip out of state while on the highway the engine stared to knock and truck began to shake. I had to pull over turn the truck off and turn it back on. Have to do this three times on our trip, not a happy trip in the truck. After our trip the I called Ford motor company and told them what was happening with the truck they told me it was not there problem and would not pay to have it fixed. I took my truck to an independent mechanic who told me that it was the cam sensor or cam phasor. To have it replaced would cost me $4,000. I took the truck to a Ford dealership that told me the same thing the mechanic said and that they would charge me $2,000 to replace. They also informed the that most of the 2007 f150 that come are having the same problem. I have let it sit in my garage till Ford does a recall. I am not paying for there mistake for shoddy work.
I've had the spark plug blow out in cylinder 6 twice while driving at about 55mph. My husband had his in 2008 f150 also. I've had to have the plugs replaced 2x. Just waiting for the fuel module and steering to go as noted in other numerous complaints.
The contact owned a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine exploded and caught fire. The insurance company inspected the vehicle and found that the fire initiated at the motor heli coil. When fuel penetrated the heli coil, motor, and spark plugs, it caused the engine to explode. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact suffered burns and cuts to the left hand. The failure mileage was 125,000.
The engine was replaced in 2012 with 53,000 miles on the truck due to a significant knocking coming from the engine. The truck was still under warranty so it cost me nothing to replace. The engine started to make the same sound in Feb 2015 (84,000 miles on the truck, 30,000 miles on the engine). I had it taken to an auto mech and they told me one of the spark plugs ejected from the engine and ripped all the threading out. They also found that on e of the cylinders broke off the crank shaft and ceased. The engine has to be replaced again and the truck is no longer under warranty. Both the original dealership that replaced the engine and the auto mech that I had the truck taken to, are researching if the parts are still under warranty.
Over the past six weeks, I have encountered three events in which my vehicle was accelerating while I had my foot on the brake. The first time, the truck was attempting to pull forward, vibrating, and revving the engine while I was stopped at a light . I thought it was a fluke or an error on my part and disregarded it. The second and third time, I was trying to slow down for the light with vehicles ahead of me. Instead of stopping as I was depressing the brake, the engine began to rev and pull forward. I depressed my brakes to floor and the truck stopped but the engine continued to rev and attempt to pull forward with the brake on. Ford company and my dealership, of course, denied any problems even after I cited several cases in which this occurred with other cars. They said sometimes sensors go out and they should not be responsible for it but were happy to do a diagnosis for $100. I see several complaints regarding the electronic throttle control systems compared to the new brake override systems and am totally unnerved that Ford will not take responsibility for this. I am concerned about driving the truck with only 45,000 miles on it. I fear that any moment, my truck is going to accelerate into another vehicle while my foot is on the brake. I will never buy a Ford again--a total disregard for consumer safety.
While driving on a new york interstate at approximately 60 mph in a snow storm, my truck started to miss. It then slowed down and shut off. I did not have enough time to make it to the side of the road. A truck stopped and I had him push my truck to the side of the road, causing me to have damage to my truck. Found out that the fuel pump driver module failed. It is located above the spare tire and due to a design error, water and road salt get trapped between module and mounting brace. It errodes out from the bottom side and the mounting bracket. When replaced, was informed that it is a redesigned compnent, lifting it away from mounting bracket. If I had not had enough room between me and the tractor trailer traveling behind me, or if I had another vehicle traveling next to me, it could be a total different outcome. I know for a fact, that part component is extended in states where there is a high risk of salt corrosion, and believe that a safety issue like this should be one of them. Sitting on a highway in a snow storm is always dangerous.
3 out of 8 spark plugs have blown out of head ih motor. This seems to be a common problem after researching several other makes and models of all Ford vehicles. I have searched for recall information from faulty design with no luck.
Cool wet morning (65f) but not raining at the time. Drove down hill to stop sign at 35mph. After slowing to about 5mph, truck suddenly surged despite braking hard enough to engage antilock brakes dragging the truck into the intersection. Less than a mile later, still going down hill at 25mph slowed for another stop sign. Engine surged again to 3000rpm. Drag into intersection was avoided by shifting to neutral. Surge dropped spontaneously within 10 seconds.
Blew #2 spark plug and coil out of head.
Noticed severe gas fumes inside cab, as well as outside cab. Raise hood , started engine and noticed fuel leak about the size of a pencil streaming out from hose that is attached to fuel rail. Removed fuel rail the next day and found a split in the hose under the cloth protective outer lining. Is there a recall for this particular failure. ?. This could have been a serious situation if it would have been a longer distance road trip. Failure p/n 5c3z97f792da fuel rail.
Stopped at a light and truck started to shake violently then died. Truck restarted and drove to a mechanic. Was told that the error codes stated the cam sensors and every error for them came up. He pulled up a blog and said that alot of people are complaining about the exact errors. Some did a quick fix to sell others need a new motor. I called Ford and they say a memo went to dealers but until more come up they won't / can't help. Was told if I get it fixed save the recpts. Called the dealer and possible $6,000-$7,000 for new motor.
Repeated failure 2007 Ford f150 ignition coil. Have replaced 3 ignition coil assembly's in my Ford f150. One in "2011" and 2 in 2014. ( do not remember the exact date of first , was about 2011 ) searched the net and read time after time Ford f150 owners with the same issue. Seems Ford must know about issue , but not fixed or recalled. My 2014 ignition coil repair cost $94 each one plus labor. ( x3 so far ) this year , I wanted 3 months with the ignition coil issue to get the time and money to have Ford fix.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the contact heard a loud bang in the engine compartment. Upon inspection, it was found that the spark plug had erroneously ejected. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the spark plug coil needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000. The VIN was not available.
While driving the truck a noticeable noise was generated from the engine and the truck shut off. The low oil senor came on during operation. Shut engine off and restarted noise stopped.
Having issue with the timing, timing solenoids. I had this same issue in Nov. 2012.
As I was driving the truck engine started to shake and then a loud bang . Upon inspection found that the spark plug for cylinder 3 had blown out(Ford recommends spark plug replacement at 100000 miles had only 65000 miles) after I got the truck home I called Fords helpline and was told that there was nothing they would do to help . Had to fix and pay for the repair myself and also found that the cylinder #2 plug was defective to.
While doing pmcs a spark plug ejected from the motor. I dont like being shot at from my truck.
I bought this truck new. At approx. 22000, I was driving at approx 50 mph when the engine started a shake, rattle and roll. In less than 1/4 mile, the engine locked but I was able to coast off the highway. It was late Saturday but after 2-3 hours found a tow truck and had it towed to the local Ford dealer and left it their back lot. I was told the next week that Ford wanted the engine back intact. After around three weeks and $800+ for a rental I got the trick back with a new engine. 2800 miles later, the exact same thing happened. My warranty was out on time but Ford did replace the engine again but I was out the rental car--again $800+. This was some 6 months back and all is ok for now but I was told if the engine blows again Ford will not cover it. And on the 2nd replacement (3rd total) engine that pistons were in the oil pan. 5. 4 engine.
My truck accelerated on it's own while hitting the brake, I thought it might be my new mat so I removed it and it happened again. Not sure if I hit the gas pedal at the same time as the brake? I have never had this happen in all the years I drove Fords or GMC. Your form would be easier if you could just type in info and boy I wish these programs would get rid of the state box and let us type it in.
Hauling my daughter's basketball team back from king city, CA on us 101 northbound. Accelerated to merge on to highway, engine coughed, lurched, coughed, lurched, shook and finally proceeded. Took it to the shop and was told that a bad spark plug had fried my coil. That explained some of it. I was told by the service manager to bring it back before 100k miles, and I did. Now I am told that all the remaining spark plugs are effected, but they don't see any issue when they run diagnostics. Therefore, it cannot be repaired. Great. Just made the last payment on it too.
My 2007 Ford F-150 XLT 5. 4 triton was brought in for a routine tune up. When removal of the spark plugs 6 of 8 broke off. The mechanics attempted to remove the broken parts but could not. Now I am told I need to have the heads of the motor taken off and or have the engine replaced. This motor has run fine except for mis fireing spark plugs. I talked to other mechanics and auto part stores, prior to having this work done and they all warned me that this may happen, the breaking off of the spark plugs. I can`t afford to have this major work done at this time, and I feel that Ford has a bad product in it`s spark plug. Has there been any other complaints in this matter ? sincerly brian kennedy.
Had a bad miss at highway speeds and limped home 15 miles. Replaced spark plugs and in the process broke two in the head. One did not break completely off (#4) and I needed to borrow a prototype tool from lisle tool corp. Removed and replaced plugs following Ford procedures. Truck still had a miss. Replaced all eight coil packs which fixed the problem. Total cost$380. 00. Truck down for 6 days awaiting tools and parts. Developed a vibration at highway speeds. Original tires(pirelli) were separating. Replaced tires(976. 00), much better. Still have slight vibration at highway speeeds. Found left front hub bearing seeping grease and feels stiff. Awaiting parts to do repairs. (98. 00) had a transmission shudder at light load in overdrive. Flushed transmission with bg products and flush machine. Added new trans fluid and conditioner. Transmission now shudders at all speeds when hot. Will order new filter and replace. Will add friction modifier and try again. Have to tow another vehicle this weekend and am afraid to do so. I am completely blown away that these problems could happen to any vehicle starting at 48,000 miles. All maintenance has been performed with top of the line products. Have been a Ford owner all my life and am completely dis-satisfied with the performance of this supposed number one selling truck. The sticker prices of these trucks should be a bunch less since cheaply produced chinese parts are so prevalently used. Not happy.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the coil pack would have to be replaced. After the repair, the failure continued. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
Three times since January 1, 2013 my Ford F-150 has accelerated on its own. Each time I was traveling less than 10 mph. Each time I had to put the truck into neutral and turn it off. The rpm's went over 3000 and my foot was not on the gas. Each time I checked to make sure there was nothing hung up in the gas peddle like carpet or trash. I took my truck to Ford country in las vegas and the service writer said I was dreaming that something like that could not happen. I assure you that my truck accelerated on its own three times at speeds less than 10 mph. I would like to find out if this is a reported problem with a fix. I do not feel safe driving my truck in town and especially in traffic where it might accelerate on its own and hurt someone. Any information that you need I can provide. I am willing to let you put any type of monitoring device on my truck so if or when it happens again you can see the results. Thank you for your time.
First why was" this vehicle included in the recall of bad throttle body I had the same problem as people are having with the Ford escape. I reported this back in 2012 when it was brought to the attentioni of the NHTSA I did not receive a response then but there are the same problems with the F-150 I had to replace mine @ a cost of over $600. 00 and also damaged my alternator I was driving in traffic when it went in limp home mode showing a wrench symbol with lost of power and acceleration, I almost was hit by several vehicles as there was knowwhere to pull over time. This is the same throttle body that comes on the Ford escape and it should be included with that group of recalls.
Was experiencing a shutter similar to the feeling of a misfire when accelerating up a grade from level road conditions. This shutter was between 1250 and 1500 rpm. Took the vehicle to Ford dealership who eliminated coil pack and torque converter as the source of the problem. I had taken another vehicle I own to a repair shop I have used foe several years for an oil change and when I picked up my vehicle I mentioned the problem I was having with my 2007 Ford f150 and they advised that my problem was probably misfire on one or more plugs. They advised me that they had dealt with this same problem over the past few years. They proceeded to inform me that there was a major problem with replacing the plugs-they could break when removing. If that happens and it did (4 plugs broke) then additional labor costs would be added to my bill. End result a bill for $600. 00 to replace 8 spark plugs. Absolutely absurd. As a part of this experience I have learned that Ford mfg this engine from 2005-2007 and when this issue began to surface that they changed the engine design to eliminate this problem. Ford was obviously aware that a future problem was going to be faced by the consumer. Why should we the consumer have to bear the full expense to pay for their flawed design in this engine. They should be willing to admit their mistake but apparently it is going to take some legal pressure to get this done. If they do not step up I will never by another Ford.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While parked, the contact noticed flames coming from the grill of the vehicle and from under the hood. The fire department was called to the scene and a fire report was filed. The cause of the fire was undetermined. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
I have a 2007 f150 at the time of incident my family and I were in CT and were doing approximatley 45 mph on a highway. The truck began to buck violently and dropped to 20our with out a warning or lights. Then it started to run normal then started the same thing all over 20 minutes later. Come to find out that the spark plugs needs to be replaced. No garage will touch it due to Fords poor design Ford says it will cost approximately five hundred dollars plus due to the poor design the spark plugs can brake in the cylinder heads. They said it can be $50. 00 per broken spark plug and possibly more if the plug cannot remove broken part. I should only pay for plugs not Fords design floor which need to be recalled.
2007 f150 5. 4 engine oil dipstick does not seat into the dipstick tube properly, approx 1/2", causing the engine oil level to always show 1/2 quart low level.
Want me to spend $689 to change spark plugs due to possible breaking of plugs at removal. Apparently this is a known problem. ## VIN passed ## Ford f150 2007 ##.
Vehicle was sitting in a parking spot at a post office. I started the vehicle and did not give it any gas and the engine revved to 6000 rpm's. Not knowing what happened, I turned the engine off. I started it again and it did the same thing but started to come down in the rpm's but I still turned engine off. I started it a third time and it revved again but came back to normal rpm's. All this without giving it any gas. In April of this year the same thing happened to my other F-150 that is a 2005 which I will also file a detailed report on following this report. The Ford dealership said it was the throttlebody and it had to be replaced. They said other Fords were having the same problem but Ford has not done a recall and has failed to recognize the seriousness of this problem. As you will see in my report on my 2005, it could have resulted in a fatality due to this issue. Looking at blogs in the internet, others have had this same problem. My wife was driving the 2005 approaching a stop sign entering into a very busy street and the engine revved and pulled the vehicle into oncoming traffic before my wife was able to depress the emergency brake and bring the vehicle to a stop. The same issue according to the Ford dealership was the throttlebody.
The crankshaft thrust bearing malfunctioned. I was able to get the truck off of the highway and back to my house. I had to have it towed to a Ford dealer. I have been doing alot of online research and found that this is a problem with alot of the f150's from 2005-2008. Mainly on the triton 5. 4l v8. I have contacted Ford but they say that they do not know of any problems. My truck was not under a warranty and Ford will not cover it. I am trying to get them to recall these engines to help the many others out there that have had to shell out $6000+ dollars as I have.
2007 f 150 king ranch spark plugs break when removing them (Ford cheap spark plug system). The truck also pull/tugs like if your transmission is missing however, I've been to the dealer multiple times for ignition coil issues. They said I need to change spark plugs. These spark plugs Ford said was to last 100,000 miles.
Driving down interstate going 65 mph here aloud pop . Engine ejected out sparkplug causing damage to cyl. Head.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the engine became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who advised that the failure could have been a manufacturing defect. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the failure was from the interior of the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the only way the vehicle could be repaired is if the contact could provide the manufacture with proof that the vehicle was having an oil change performed every three months and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 94,000.
