At 33k mile my 2007 f 150 with the 5. 4 liter engine had engine failure. The engine failed as a result of a know problem that Ford has with a back of the 5. 4 liter engine having to much end play on the cam shaft. As a result the engine was starved for oil and failed in the middle of a trip. The oil pressure dropped to 0 when the engine was full of oil. Ford's suggestion is to only replace heads when they know that the engine was starved for oil. They will not officially admit to the problem but several Ford employees have told me Ford is aware of the situation. The engine initially locked up and would not re start. Had this happened at high speed the situation could have been deadly.
