Was turning left into walmart when steering went completely out. Very hard to turn, harder to turn than manual steering. Pulled into parking lot turned off vehicle to inspect. When trying to turn after restarting vehicle, vehicle made loud whining sound. Traction control light came on. . . Then steering failure light came on. . . With in a few minutes whining completely stopped. Lights remain on when running. Steering completely out. . . No power assist what so ever.
Takata recall: steering is binding when slightly turning left. It gets stuck in that position and has to be forcefully moved back to center.
Been having problems with the stability control light popping up on the screen when all of a sudden my steering wheel locked up and the steering control light shows up. While driving at approximately 45 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the service power steering now warning light illuminated. In addition, the steering wheel seized. There needs to be a recall on this because I was making a slight turn on a country road when the steering wheel seized I had my little niece (18mont) in the truck to think that I could of lost her because of this issue tisk tisk Ford you let me down. Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 mph and turning into a parking space, the steering wheel seized as the power steering warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000. Djr.
