The contact owns a 2011 Ford f -150. The contact stated the check engine and service engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to autonation Ford gulf freeway (12227 gulf fwy, houston, TX 77034, (713) 489-2089) and informed they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken a second time to the dealer diagnosed. The contact was informed that the lead frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 150,000.
While towing my camper at 60 mph up an incline my 5. 0l f150 began to lose power, as I increased pressure on the accelerator the power to the vehicle decreased even more. The service engine light came on and I limped up the hill at a whopping 20mph on the interstate. Once on the downgrade the vehicle came back up to speed and the service engine light went off. The truck continued to have power issues and a knocking from the motor when I was climbing hills. I took the vehicle to the Ford garage and they told me there were no codes to tell them what was wrong. The vehicle still has the apparent miss and knocking sound at certain rpm's and now has an issue starting for the first time of the day. I again took it to the Ford garage when the starting issue was happening and they told me again that the vehicle still had no codes to explain this problem. I tried all of the easy fixes but the vehicle still has the same starting and power loss issues and Ford can not tell me what is going on with my vehicle. My best guess is a catalytic converter issue, but I can do nothing about it until I know for sure.
While accelerating up a hill, the engine began to misfire and would not accelerate properly and actually slowed while the service engine light blinked. I was forced to pull off the highway, shut the engine off and restarted. The check engine light did not re-light and I continued on normally until attempting to pass a vehicle when the same malfunction occurred. This happened repeatedly over the past 3 months while attempting hard acceleration until it was returned to the dealer for repairs. The dealer installed a "deflector" to prevent moisture from entering the turbo or aftercooler and reprogrammed the computer. Upon leaving the dealer, it was evident that the repairs did not work and the problem became worse. The engine misfires constantly resulting in an unsafe vehicle.
Engine lost power ,terrible shaking and vibrating,will not accelerate. Was able to leave lane of traffic,too side of highway and stop. After brief period of time was able too restart and return home to dealership for diagnosis and was told engine had misfire,but there was no fix for it at that time. This has been some 15 or 16 months,vehicle has been back too dealership 8(eight) times and still has lurching,fast idle,and service engine soon light illumination when engine is running.
