2 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2016

When accelerating from a stop or slow roll, the truck will jerk hard feeling like the it is coming from the driveshaft. There is no common cause for this issue such as going over a bump, etc. Brought truck to the local Ford dealership and was told it was "leaf spring slap" which it is clear under the truck that there is deep grooves on the drive shaft, yoke area. Ford denies this is the issue. This happens 80% of the time that I accelerate either from a stop or slow movement.

3 Driveshaft problem

The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact heard a noise coming from the rear center of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician installed a driveshaft boot repair kit lubricant to keep the gear from wearing out. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,362.

4 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

I took delivery of this truck in March of 2012. The truck has had documented ongoing serious drivability, safety and reliability issues since October of 2013. The issue of immediate concern relates to ongoing misfire, back fire, and engine stall. This condition has occurred at low speed, highway speed, and while towing. The immediate loss of power and subsequent surging effects caused by this condition renders the truck hazardous to me, my family, and other motorists. This issue has been repeatedly reported to and serviced by Ford. I have also personally filed complaints and concern with Ford motor company. See Ford customer service case number 8603638. The misfire, back fire, and engine stall is the current ongoing issue but you will also see in the service history this vehicle has also experienced traction control, drive shaft, steering system, and sensor/electrical component failures dating back to may of 2012. It is my understanding Ford motor company is aware of this issue with the eco boost engine and drivetrain in my truck. This known issue was responded to by tech service bulletin 13-2-14. However, the mitigation measures of that bulletin and other subsequent service attempted to repair my truck have not been successful. Further, the service bulletin does not take into account the significant safety issue of a truck traveling public roads and experiencing sudden loss of engine power. Finally, I want to point out that the ignition/engine problems my vehicle experienced has caused premature failure to other components to my drive train. This includes fouled spark plugs, damaged coils, and likely accelerated end of life to other emission controls and mechanical components to the engine due to the misfire and water entering the combustion chamber.

5 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2012

The vehicle has been in the Ford shop three times for a clicking or popping noise that came from the rear of the truck. I have complained about it since the vehicle reached 6,000 miles or 4 months old. The dealer has attempted numerous repair attempts (3 ea. )to fix the problem the vehicle has spent many days at the shop while the mechanic tried to fix the problem. The Ford engineers or so I have been told where aware of the issue and instructed the dealership to try the ssm# 22384 to fix the issue. The dealership performed the ssm# on Friday the 14th of Dec and after driving the truck I noticed the same complaint of the clicking noise and there was no apparent change to or after bringing the truck in for repair. I notified the dealership and they said the truck was safe to drive and they would keep me notified on any other fixes as they come available through Ford. After almost 200 miles after the attempted repair I was driving down the highway when I felt the truck shake then heard a large pow then bang, I quickly looked out the rear view mirror and saw smoke and sparks. I was able to recover and get the vehicle to the shoulder of the road where I noticed the driveshaft on the ground the only thing attached was the front of the drive shaft. The pinion bearing flange (rear) was attached to the driveshaft and the pinion shaft was sheared off the rearend. I feel this problem could have caused a serious injury to me or others if I was in a different senario and not so lucky to not be carry my children and towing my boat. This is a unsafe condition and should be delt with to ensure others don't have my incident that could create a accident. I have the service record copies and my truck is still at the dealership waiting on parts.

6 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2012

Gm joe dennis at chino hills Ford failed to allow his service dept. To repair, correct or replace defective driveline or driveshaft componets that clunk and rattle on a new Ford raptor truck under factory warranty and an esp Ford 100,000 extended warranty. These faulty componets could fail and cause loss of control or serious injury or death to myself or passengers and other vehicles on the highway should they fail and seperate from the drivetrain, driveshaft, u joint or yoke of the truck. This is a known and much complained about issue on these Ford raptors and Ford motors has ignored the drivetrain clunk issues. This should be a Ford recall to determine what the drivetrain issues are with this $60,000. Truck and correct them ASAP for safety reasons.
