Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to byers Ford dealer, (1101 columbus pike, delaware, OH 43015, (888) 350-4405), where it was repaired of NHTSA campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). The contact stated the when she left the dealer, she noticed the gear shifting was different. Slowey was shifting into gear. The brake pedal was spongie and difficult to depress and also failing to stop. In addition, the contact stated that in the pass three month she had to add four bottle to the antifreeze to the transmission and the engine overheating. The service brake, the engine hot, transmission hot warning indicator lights illuminated. The contact also stated that occasional when stop or on idle the air condition would blow hot air, the windows failed to function. The vehicle was taking back to the same dealer and was informed that there was problem due to a recall campaign number 19s07 repair was incomplete and was informed the vacuum pump failed and the transmission and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle does not have brake, it would operate intermittently and the technician told her to drive the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000. Aw.
While in motion my truck has slammed into first gear while at dangerous speeds. In addition, I have had instances where the truck has started in a high gear and would not exit 5th gear. At the same time the speedometer didn't work and the odometer displayed all dashes (I have pictures of this). My research indicates that both issues are due to a documented failure in the molded leadframe (part of the automatic transmission). The first issue appears to exactly match recall "16n02". The second issue exactly matches TSB 13-6-8. The fix for both is a replacement of the molded leadframe. Ford is saying that my truck is not eligible for the recall (with no explanation) even though my truck is exhibiting the exact symptom specified in the recall and matches both the date and location of manufacture as well as the model of transmission. I had the downshifting issue happen years ago as well and that was serviced under warranty. However, I believe the dealer only replaced the output sensor and not the entire molded leadframe as specified and the problem has reoccured now - though luckily it is not happening often like it did before. On 12/5/17, I was getting on to I-10 to head west to lake charles. On the ramp, my truck would not get out of first gear so I had to stop on the side of the interstate, turn, my truck off and back on. It started working until I was on the interstate going 70 mph, then my rpm's went up, and my speedometer went to zero. The cruise control would not work as well, and check engine light came on. I had to coast on the interstate hoping the transmission would not go into 1st gear again. I contacted two different Ford dealerships, as well as Ford motor company, but they stated there is no recall on my truck. My truck was made at the kansas city plant and was created January 2102 which fits the place and date of the recall. This happened several times, and Ford is not helping at all. It will cost over $500 to fix a defect that should have been fixed by Ford. It is a 2012 F-150 truck.
My 2012 Ford f150 has about 60k miles on it. I have been having transmission problems - shifting into higher or lower gears than it should, not shifting into gear, revving high with low power, the speedometer will show 0 mph a lot of times, and at one point it downshifted into first gear while I was driving 65-70mph on the freeway. Fortunately, that time nobody was behind me and I was able to safely pull to the shoulder. That only happened once. I was able to put it in park, turn it off, and turn it on again to get it going. The other issues have been happening a few times a day and I can get it to work and back but it's a little dicey when driving in traffic. I have to put it in park, turn it off and sometimes in reverse to get it going. I got a dtc p0720 a few days ago and then took it into the shop on sept 18th. Jones west Ford, the Ford dealership in reno told me it was the lead frame and they would replace it for over $700. I started looking online to see if anybody had experience with this. Apparently there was a recall for my make and model and year, with my transmission, for trucks built at the plant where my truck was built at the time my truck was built. I called Ford customer service, but they and the dealership say my truck is not affected by the recall. It is however showing all the signs of an unsafe vehicle with the exact same problems that I am seeing in the recall (I guess Ford now calls it a "customer satisfaction program" 16n02). They said they would have to charge me, they didn't fix my truck, said the part is back-ordered and I should come and get my truck and take the chance of driving it. I asked for a loaner vehicle and they said no. After I picked it up, driving home in heavy traffic, the hood started to rise up. After they didn't fix my truck, they forgot to latch the hood. Very scary. Pulled to the side of the busy freeway, latched the hood.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle independently shifted from first gear and failed to change gears appropriately. The contact had to turn off and restart the vehicle in order for it to return to normal. The failure recurred the following day. The dealer (athens Ford, 4260 atlanta hwy, athens, GA 30606, (706) 521-0778) diagnosed that the leaf frame wiring harness in the transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer made no mention of the service campaign (15n05 electric vacuum pump extended coverage), so the contact was uncertain if it was related. In addition, the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was excluded from a recall campaign. The failure mileage was not available.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle independently shifted into another gear, which caused the vehicle to stall on the highway. All the instrument panel warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
The ses, service engine soon, light came on. I noticed my truck lacking power and taking longer to shift gears when accelerating. It become less of a smooth shift and more jerky. When traveling on the highway at ~70 mph, the engine would not hold 6th gear. It would drop to 5th and 4th gear, until I gave it more gas. It would reach 3500 rpm's at times before shifting which was not normal. I also noticed starting in the fall of 2016 a short loud abnormal noise at cold start. After researching these issues, this led me to TSB 14-0194, code p0016, dealing with the 3. 5l ecoboost engine. I took my truck to my local dealer and this was the issue. I have been the only owner of less than 5 years and was at 75,500 miles, out of the 60,000 mile warranty. I just had the repair done, costing me $3600. The repair included parts listed in TSB 14-0194 as well as timing belts, additional gaskets, seals, guides, tensioner, cam, sprocket, gear crankshaft, among others. I question how this known issue of timing chain stretch with the TSB is not a recall. This problem can cause an accident when accelerating on to a freeway. It can also cause an accident by suddenly downshifting while driving. I am glad my truck is fixed, however did not like the price tag. I fear that this known issue will lead to a deathly accident and it is unfortunate that a recall has not been issued yet. I hope this post helps make a change, saving consumers a costly repair and even someones life from a future accident.
Transmission down shifted to 1st gear and would not shift the gears right. While on i10 interstate!.
