1 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2014

2012 f150 ecoboost engine. Loss of power and truck shuddering when accelerating at highway speed from possible misfiring. Service engine light came on also, but turned off soon after event. Took to dealer to check, dealer said to change spark plugs and boots. Dealer did not mention previous or current technical service bulletins for this.

2 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2014

While passing, my vehicle loses power and starts to sputter. This has happen on numerous occasions, and on the latest occasion the service engine light has come on. I have the 3. 6 l ecoboost engine in the vehicle. I have turned the vehicle into the dealership for repairs, but was told they had to order a cooler to install on the turbo charger. Bottom line no parts are broke, but it now requires additional parts. I do not see any recalls for this issue.

3 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2013

This complaint pertains to the 3. 5 liter ecoboost engine. I was driving on I-95 at approximately 70 mph with the cruise control activated. There were four lanes of traffic at this location. When I attempted to accelerate around a slower vehicle, the engine shuttered and went into limp mode. I had to drive onto the berm, nearly causing a crash. The engine returned to normal after several minutes and I was able to continue my trip from pennsylvania to north carolina. This engine shutter occurred three more times during my return to PA. The last time the service engine light remained activated. The loss of engine power on a busy multiple lane highway is an extreme hazard and could result in a serious vehicle crash. It is time for Ford to issue a recall for this known issue.

4 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2013

Loss of power/engine misfires during hard acceleration on mid afternoon Friday, June 7, 2013 passing a car at country rd speed or less (was almost at a complete stop while car in front of me turned) in rain. Once I reached destination truck sat until mid day Sunday, June 9 when condition recurred on hill climb acceleration in dry conditions. Engine misfire indicator light came on at that time. After pulling over and shutting truck off to check owners manual, the service engine light came on when I started truck back up and has remained on but the issue hasn't recurred. Appt at Ford dealer for service on Friday, June 14 to check the engine light status and this issue. Engine is 3. 5l v6 ecoboost.

5 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2012

While passing a vehicle my Ford f150 began to shudder dramatically, lost power immediately, causing me to pull to the side of the road. It was raining at the time. This could have definitely caused an accident. The service engine light came on and stayed on. I took it to the dealer and they stated it was a failure of the intercooler for turbo on the ecoboost engine. A replacement part has been ordered but Ford states, that due to the massive amount of calls for this part, it would be about 3 months to replace the part. This is definitely an accident waiting to happen, as they told me this could occur again. I have found numerous reports of this happening on other eco boost engines.
