42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2024

My 2015 Ford F-150 truck has had multiple issues related to performance issues, with only 80,000 miles on it. I have had issues with it losing power while driving, both with and without towing a trailer where it just powers down on the highway from 70-75 mph down to 40-50 mph in traffic. I usually just have to pull over, turn the engine off and then turn it back on and everything runs normal. It is currently at phil long Ford in colorado springs, CO, having the short block and driver side cylinder head replaced at 80,000 miles because it was smoking out the exhaust and they determined that it had coolant leaking into the #4 and #5 cylinders. This is after it had a completely new engine installed at 75,000 miles due to coolant leaking into the 3# cylinder and causing severe damage to the engine. It was in the repair shop from August 2023 until late December 2023 because the engines were are backorder. The passenger side cylinder heads are currently on a 13 month backorder according to the dealership, which is why they are only replacing the short block and driver side cylinder head this time, after only 5,000 miles on the replacement engine. I have also received multiple recall notifications regarding this vehicle, the most recent of which was on 4/22/2024 for #24e03 powertrain control module software update, none of which have been repaired during the multiple times and extended durations that my vehicle was at the Ford dealership for repairs. Two recalls existed and should have been repaired when my vehicle was at the dealership between August and December of 2023, and the most recent recall shows "no remedy available" for a pcm module software update?.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2024

When I was driving a light came on that said low oil pressure. I checked the oil, and it was full. Driving to get it checked out the engine stopped. I had it towed to the Ford dealership. The engine failed at 81,000 on my 2015 Ford F-150. I was charged $220 for the Ford technicians to say "they do not know why the engine failed but for $16,000 they will put a new engine in. " I asked for details as there is low miles on the engine. The technician said "they would be happy to tear apart the engine, for a fee, to find out. " I asked about a warranty they said the motor is good for 60,000 miles after which point it is not covered. I found, on the internet, that the 2015 2. 7 ecoboost engine has problems with oil leaks and that the piston melt, fuse together and the engine stops. I also found there is a federal investigation into the 2. 7 ecoboost engine. . Read more...

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2024

This engine defect is well known to Ford ; it involves the 2015-2017 2. 7 liter ecobost . These engines were produced with a faulty oil pan gasket . I just paid to replace the third oil pan . Taken in totality these leaking oil pans are a safety issue since oil is deposited on our roads leading to slick conditions and deteriorating road surfaces . Ford's most recent TSB related to this defect is TSB 24-2098 , which superceds tsb23-2330 . This defect effects thousands of Ford's 2. 7 liter ecoboost engines . Please examine this safety issue . Thank you.

The oil gaskets on the valve covers and oil pan are defective and leak. This causes oil to be leaked on the engine and can catch fire. Ford has stopped making the defective parts and now charging customers for the repair. If the repairs are not made, the engine fire is a probability.

The vehicle has been sent in for a loud passenger side noise while motor is started and driving. The smell of burnt oil was also an issue coming from the passenger side. Took it in and the mechanic noticed my valve cover (passenger side) is cracked. Cannot order new ones as they are on back order. The driver side has limited quantities with a wait time, and the passenger side valve covers have 0 in stock online and at the dealerships. 54 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2023

My 2015 F-150 3. 5l ecoboost experienced a sudden loss of power during highway speeds and shut off. I was in rush hour traffic and almost caused a few accidents as my truck seemed like it went into "limp mode". While my steering wheel was tight I managed to get off the road safely with no power whatsoever. My idiot lights were flashing like crazy and stated "advance trac service" and "hill start assist not available". I let the truck sit for a bit and restarted it. It ran solid another 15 miles. Today I'm getting advance trac message: "advance trac service" and "hill start assist not available", all while the engine check light remains on. I have read multiple issues similar to mine but there does not seem to be a recall for this. This is a very unsafe ordeal and very scary. Had my daughter been driving, this may have been an accident for sure. I see Ford "extended" the warranty to cover any issues. But I do not drive my truck that often and I find it hard to believe nothing is being done about the "throttle body" issue (from my reading). This is even happening to Ford trucks overseas. I get they do not have any say in the us, bu it does show this is a major issue.

55 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2023

While driving at approx 50 mph the engine suddenly stopped and shut off. I coasted to the side. There was no ability to restart the engine. 56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2023

My latest issue is with the 2. 7 ecoboost engine. I had a total failure of this engine last year and am still awaiting a replacement that I am paying for. This is unacceptable as I had this vehicle serviced according to maintenance schedule. I also have had systems report failure such as the hillside assist and the electronic parking brake. Additionally, the automatic transmission has locked up in third gear quite a few times. There are other issues such as a leaky oil pan and such.

57 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2023

I was traveling [xxx] near liverpool, PA at 60mph, the truck flashed a quick code on the dash and then suddenly downshifted from 6th gear to 1st almost spinning the truck as the rear wheels locked up momentarily. It would not upshift past 3rd gear and had to travel 35 miles home like that. I called my local Ford dealer (parsons) and they said bring the truck in for diagnostic testing, so I did. Meanwhile I searched the internet to see if others had the issue. Turns out they did, but my 2015 with the 6r80 was not in the recall notice. Ford said it was the lead frame and needed to be replaced. If it was a known problem, why not inform owners of these trucks. That said, Ford wanted $1500 to fix it, but they did not have the part. So I drove the truck (never with my family in it ever again) after I cleared the code with my reader. . . Again traveling [xxx] @ 75mph it downshifted in traffic. Luckily I was in the right lane and made a quick move to the shoulder to avoid being run over. In carlisle, PA there are hundreds of trucking companies and warehouses, so the truck traffic is very heavy. That was it. I searched out the part, paid for it myself and had a Ford mechanic that does work on the side fix the truck. I have been a loyal Ford guy for over 30 years. . . I reached out to Ford via telephone, chat and even facebook. All they say is it is not under any recall. Hard to swallow that when I am driving a $75k truck they built and they will not stand behind a $2k fix. Well goodbye Ford, as a business owner for over 25 years. If I make an error I fix it no matter what. I gave Ford the opportunity to stand behind truck and they did. . . Just far behind it and passed me as I sit on the shoulder of the road. This in my opinion information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

While driving on a highway, the low brake fluid light came on. When I went to stop, the brake paddle went to the floor and I was finally able to get stopped. I opened up the brake fluid reservoir and it was empty. I looked to see if I could find the leak and could not see any signs of a leak. 63 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2023

Regarding: 2015 Ford f150 with 20,000 original miles on it. -made 1st report with NHTSA. Gov as well as Ford. Com back in June 2023 about the vehicle throwing codes for anti-lock brake system and communication loss of ecm/pcm. As well as, the system not allowing the brand new battery to ever be fully charged. -upon 1st reporting these issues, the vehicle was placed into the "friendly Ford" service center in crosby, TX to be worked on and issues fixed. $1,376, later, we were contacted by the service center to pick the vehicle up, saying issues were now fixed. (their prognosis: auxillary transmission pump replacement 6/19/2023) after picking vehicle up, all seemed to be running correctly. Until, the vehicle decided to do the exact same thing again. . . No charging the battery, not starting engine, turning itself off, ect. Just got the vehicle out of the same service shop,, this time them claiming that it was now the transmission control module that needed to be replaced. This service trip costed $1490 (july27, 2023). When the service worker went out to bring the truck around for us to leave, he had to attach a battery booster to the battery, just to be able to start the vehicle. . . . Ding< ding< ding!! not fixed. . . . . . Right ?! correct!! it is not!! so, here we are again (07/29/2023) with the code reader at autozone saying "anti-lock brake system/ ecm/pcm (u0151-00 and u0100-00). Battery tested to be in good working order, as well as the entire starting system, itself is in complete working order. And still our problem persists.

This is a known issue with the manifold warping and causing exhaust leaks when the stud bolts snap off. Ford needs to recall this design flaw and pay for the fix.

68 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2023

Ps111 error cody: throttle body assembly is malfunctioning. My vehicle lost power steering and went into full shut down mode a dozen times over the course of driving it the latest ~500 miles with the truck shaking at a stop before restarting it and working again. Many times this could have been fatal collisions as they happened on roads without shoulder lanes. This issue is super scary to have your vehicle randomly shut off on you leaving you minimal time/distance to react and often in the middle of the road with multiple lanes. I've had it at the Ford dealership for 3. 5 weeks where they are trying to fix it for $1,100, however, they said Ford currently has 15,000 of the same part on back-order. This issue should be a safety recall immediately, in addition to the shear number of the same part on back-order is clearly an indicator that Ford has an engineering issue and should be held liable to replace the part that frequently defaults at their expense but also to keep the roads safer.

69 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2023

No lights previous to incident. Sudden engine & speed malfunction . Yes, it happened multiple times heading to the Ford dealer-2 mi away. We kept the hazard lights on. 70 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2023

The truck shuts off at red lights. This is not the feature for gas saving. The engine completely dies. This is extremely dangerous. You are stuck in running traffic until it starts back up. The Ford dealer said there are no service bulletins and they've never heard of it. But the f150 forum is full of examples, and Ford is not aware or fixing the issue. This happens several times a week.
