Ford f150 1ftew1cpxffc58647, caught fire while parked and unoccupied. Princeton, TX fire dept was not able to identify cause and origin of ignition / fire. Vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicle caught firer while we where asleep. Vehicle was looked at by fire dept and origin of fire was undetermined.
While parked and shut off at a gas station in lakeside, CA, my 2015 Ford f?150 XLT spontaneously caught fire under the hood. The fire appeared to originate in the fuse box area, specifically where the fuel pump relay is integrated. The incident posed significant risk, occurring near a fuel pump while my child was in the vehicle. A gas station employee assisted with extinguishing the fire. The cause is believed to be an electrical short. There were no modifications or recent repairs.
It's the same issue as recall notice 22s02/NHTSA recall 22v011. The replacement part is mr3z-7583-a 1x ($2-$5 part with 30 second install), but they do not show it under parts for my truck, they would prefer to sell me the whole brake pedal assembly ($50+ part and labor probably diagnosis charge in addition to part replacement). The part becomes brittle and breaks. This caused dead battery, 5 hours from home, due to lights staying on, allowed me to start and put truck into gear without touching the brake, lost acceleration between 45 & 50 mph, cruise control would not turn on and message presents that hill assist is not available.
Started truck and drove about 1/4 mile when it lost all power and numerous messages started flashing on the screen. Truck had no power and I had to pull to the side of the blvd to let other traffic pass. Shut engine off and restarted. Started oksy but returned home. Learned from my mechanic 180 miles away that it is the throttle body, a common problem to which there is no recall but possibly and extended warranty. Truck has 49,253 miles on it.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? transmission lead frame - error p072 - traveling on the interstate at 65mph and transmission downshifted in 1st gear nearly causing the car behind me to rear-end me. Lucky I wasnt killed or serioiusly hurt. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? yes has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others?yes were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no.
Fuel inlet light on.
Throttle body failure approx every 45,000 miles. Bought F-150 new, now driven it approx 135,000 miles. Failure occurs when driving a various speeds, incl 75 mph. Engine shuts down, complete loss of power. Dangerous situation; safety at risk! unexpected & random loss of power - w/ passengers aboard - in various traffic situations. After engine shuts down, restarts, then randomly shuts down until a new throttle body is installed. First throttle body failure repaired (=throttle body replaced) @ Ford dealership in price, ut. 2nd failure repaired @ Ford dealership in hamilton, mt. Both covered by extended warranty. 3rd failure repaired 5/21/24 @ hamilton, mt @ $324. 55 personal expense. Check engine light warning occurs.
The throttle body will randomly get stuck either shut or open and when this happens the truck goes into a “limp” mode that makes the truck lose all power. There is no warning of when it will happen or to get your vehicle checked. If this were to happen pulling into traffic it could cause a serious wreck since you cannot get the truck to accelerate in any way. This problem has been reproduced numerous times.
My 2015 3. 5l ecoboost had the exhaust manifolds replaced back in 2018 when my truck had 51,909 miles on it and now at 90,000 miles the new manifolds warped and snapped off a stud bolt to which the american fork utah Ford dealership said that since it was over a year ago even though it was a known issue that was covered under warranty I will have to pay out of pocket over $2,000 per manifold. . . This is a known issue with the manifold warping and causing exhaust leaks when the stud bolts snap off. Ford needs to recall this design flaw and pay for the fix.
At 63000 miles in June 2021, randomly while driving, it presented warning "hill start assist unavailable" and other traction control warnings,, throttle goes to idle in traffic, vehicle coasts and dies. Key off & on restarts it. Code p2112. Ford dealer replaced throttle body motor under extended warranty on June 3, 2021. Motorcraft part has 2 year warranty. On June 17, 2023 (14 days out of part warranty), at 93,000 miles truck does identical behavior. Starts & runs fine, presents warning with random frequency (4 times this morning) at various speeds from 30 mph up to 75 mph in freeway traffic. Throttle goes to idle, truck coasts at 3-5 mph until ignition key recycled. Happened this morning at 65 mph on freeway in construction zone with no safety shoulders. Very dangerous!!!.
While driving with my family the truck gave several error messages and a check engine light. I pulled over immediately because the truck lost power and the stability control started shaking violently. I was able to safely maneuver out of traffic, but I cannot imagine what would have happened if I was on a busy highway instead of a small side street. Apparently this is an issue that has been fairly common with Ford from what I have seen online. The vehicle is at the mechanic now for repairs. He has determined that the throttle body needs to be replaced.
Chech engine light keeps coming on. Dealer said it was an evap canister issue, I told them warning had come on prior for check fuel fill cap. (capless). Said they needed to replace purge cylinoid. So as I'm paying $500 for the repair, I'm told this might not fix the issue. What? started with small evap leak. And fuel door codes. That only came on at 1/4 tank used. Now it's a large leak that comes on every time I start the engine. And I got the check fuel fill door warning again. I've done every trick listed on forums to clean and lubricate the fuel fill door, it did help for a while but as stated above problem is now much worse. Dealer should know how to fix this issue once and for all. Forums note that this is a common problem with no quick solution.
My 2015 Ford f150 has 108k miles. While driving on 2/21/23, the engine started missing, several engine warning light began illuminating. I was able to pull to the shoulder and stop the engine which was missing badly. After allowing the engine to completely stop and turning the ignition off, I allowed it to settle for a moment, then I restarted the engine. I placed it in gear and attempted to drive again, but the same missing and instrument cluster faults recurred. At this point, I had it towed to loveland Ford, in loveland colorado. After evaluation, I was notified the throttle body had failed which also caused the instrument cluster faults. Upon reading about the throttle body, one of the articles indicated this has been and issue for Ford f150 years 2014 -2016 produced in dearborn and kansas, but that Ford had voluntarily repaired vehicles with issues via extended warranty when reported. My vehicle falls in the date range and was produced in dearborn. This is a very dangerous condition and had this occurred on a busy highway, would be a danger to me as well as other vehicles.
Throttle actuator control system error (hill start assist not available/service advancetrac). Vehicle lost accelerator power at highway speed in traffic. Traveling at highway speed without the ability to accelerate resulted is difficulty exiting to the shoulder when vehicle lost acceleration. Computer code error p2112 was later diagnosed with subsequent check engine light. This is a known problem. As such, Ford had issued a temporary service bulletin 16b32b for this issue on various models. However this narrow window for repair is not adequate for the issue at hand.
Unknown: on 1/2/2021 at approximately 11:30pm, we were awakened by neighbors to warn us that our home was on fire. Neighbors witnesses an explosion from our truck, that blew up most of the Ford F-150 and cause major damage to my van next to it. The fire department has investigated the explosion and listed cause of fire to be electrical issues from the Ford F-150. Thankfully no lives were lost, but would like to see that this be investigated to avoid loss of life as a preventative measure.
The fuel economy for my truck is not working at the best I’ve have gone from medium gas mileage to poor (at its best) 18-20 mpg - 10 or less.
Went into 'limp mode'. Advance track, hill descent warnings. Wouldn't throttle. Stopped going downhill. Known throttle block problem.
Vehicle lost all speed control when taking off from a stop and engine was shuttering/vibrating/misfiring and dash panel lit up like a christmas tree with all kinds of warnings. Pulled over to the side of the road shut down and let sit for several minutes. Restarted and engine light stayed illuminated. Truck was running ok and limiter was not engaged was a short distance from home so I began to drive. Made it up to 55 mph and about 1/2 a mile and without any warning it began to act up again so to prevent an accident I pulled over and called a tow truck to have it towed to dealership. They diagnosed to to be a faulty throttle body. $502. 46, a heart and panic attack later it seems to have fixed the problem.
The following has happened multiple times. I am driving in top gear (5th or 6th) at approximately 55 mph. I attempt to pass someone and suddenly lose acceleration as I press the accelerator pedal. The transmission seems to go limp. After a few seconds my acceleration returns.
The capless fuel cap flap is allowing air into the tsnk csusing the check engine light to come on. I know numerous Ford vechicles having the same problem. I feel Ford should recall these problems .
Truck fault code flashes and truck shuts down into safe mode. Three times it occurred while driving on freeway at 70 mph and the fourth time it happened in an a side road doing 35 mph. Every time the same thing happened, the truck shut down in safe mode showing fault codes. I would stop, it would idle very rough, I was not able to move it as it would not rev or let me increase rpm. I would have to shut off truck, turn it back on, it would reset and drive like normal. Took to courtesy Ford four times to diagnose and they could not find anything, I bought a code ready and the truck went into fault code and safety mode again, the code read p2112. Ford found TSB 16-0139 applied and replaced throttle body and charged me $496. 95 for repair. 2015 Ford f150 with 58k miles.
The vehicle went into "limp mode".
P0316,p0300 and u0140-00 codes popped up.
My wife was driving vehicle and dash started flashing "hill start assist not available", "service advanced trac" and the wrench icon started displaying on console. Vehicle vibrated heavily slowed down in a "cripple" mode no matter how hard gas pedal was pressed. She pulled over, turned the ignition off and waited 5+ minutes before restarting. It re-started with engine light lit. In order to get it to dealer, she had to drive approximately 15 miles. Vehicle drove ok for a bit and then exhibited similar behavior 4 more times, including once going up the conejo grade between camarillo and newbury park where a big rig had to take evasive action to avoid hitting her when the Ford f150 suddenly and uncontrollably slowed down. Had the semi driving not been paying attention, he could have easily hit her. Ford dealer diagnosed as bad throttle body on 11/2/2020 same vehicle had exhibited brake loss due to faulty master cylinder (now a recall) in August of 2019.
While traveling on the highway at 70mph, my vehicle went limp, abruptly shook as I pulled over to the shoulder to avoid a collision. My indicator lights lit up like a christmas tree. . . "hill assist", "service advancetrak" " the "wrench" adn my check engine light remained on. Terrified, I got stopped, took the keys out and had it towed to the nearest dealer. Their diagnosis was that it was a throttle body failure. My service manager requested that I call Ford customer care. I did that immediately following the diagnosis with my repair being above $650. After a week of research, Ford came back and stated that they would not help me out at all. There are recalls for the specific problem including an extended warranty for 10 years and 150,000 miles, however I was told that I could not receive any help for the same part. I experienced a preknow condition with a part on my truck that was faulty with myself to blame. If I had known any of this I would have never purchased the vehicle.
Failing exhaust manifold and studs.
Truck engine goes to rough idle while driving, have to shut engine off, restart. Never know when this might happen or at what speed. Local Ford dealer unable to find problem. Has happened several times.
I own a 2015 Ford f150. I was driving at 60 mph, the vehicle abruptly decelerated. The wrench and limp mode warning lights illuminated while the failure code p2112 occurred. I had to coast my vehicle on to the road shoulder and restart the engine. I had to stop and restart numerous times before I could make it home, off of a busy highway. When it stalled on me the next day, I had the vehicle towed to the dealer and paid for a diagnostic that located a failure code at the throttle body.
Auto start/stop causing wrench to come up. Seems like transmission has issue keeping proper fuel level to restart at red lights. Causes a hard start. Also driver door does not lock and unlock with the other 3 doors.
When accelerating, about 90% of the time the vehicle will get warnings for "hill descent control fault" and "advance track service". When this happens, the vehicle will not accelerate anymore and starts slowing down. This has happened to me twice getting onto the interstate in the past month but luckily no vehicles were coming up behind me. This is a huge safety issue though that Ford needs to recognize and fix. The dealership said they have no idea what is causing it but everyone online says that it's likely to be the steering rack. Recall the steering rack because this has apparently happened to a lot of people.
Truck suddenly decelerated while traveling at 70mph. Pulled over, turned off truck and turned on again and accelerated onto the freeway. This happened 3 times on the freeway. Drove to Ford dealership in albuquerque for help. They evaluated and found the throttle body needed replacement. This same part was a safety recall item on our 2010 Ford escape.
Driving on an interstate 75 mph when the hillside assist light turned on the dash along with other warning lights and immediately lost all power to the engine requiring a pull off to shoulder. Shut off the engine and restarted with no problem, accelerated back to speed and within a few miles the light came on again and lost all power. This happened several more times while attempting to locate a local Ford dealer. While waiting at the dealer I searched online and found numerous others have experienced the same issue attributed to a defective throttle body (see attached screenshot). After bringing up the frequency of this issue with the dealer, I was told there is a TSB from Ford but no economic relief for the $675 bill since there was not a recall. The dealer stated there was not a recall because this is not a safety issue. I responded that driving 75mph on a busy urban interstate, losing all power, and being forced to find a shoulder immediately is a serious safety issue as one frantically tries to figure out what is happening and searching for a way out of traffic.
My 2015 f150 crew cab loses ability to accelerate. You will be going down road or pulling out and without any warning the check engine lights light up and the gas peddle will do nothing. It's very dangerous while in traffic. The truck only has 45,000 mi on it, done some research and it sounds like I'm not the only one having this problem.
Defective throttle body caused vehicle to lose power. Engine light on with messages service advanced trac/hill start not available. Truck has 44k miles.
Driving down highway when truck immediately lost power, began shaking violently, with no throttle/acceleration available. The dashboard was showing all the below errors. Hill descent control fault service advancetrac hill start assist not available.
