36 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

While in motion, at highway speeds on a highway and sometimes slower speeds on town streets too, my truck would suddenly start flashing multiple errors and the throttle would immediately be unresponsive. In 1 second I was dead in the water. The truck would immediately start slowing down due to lack of propulsion and the engine would have a very low rough idle. The throttle would not work at any speed. The only way to recover control of propulsion was to come to a complete stop right where the problem occurred (very dangerous), turn off the vehicle and then restart the vehicle. After restart the problem would completely disappear. Until it happened again. This problem appeared 3 times in 1 week, all while the vehicle was traveling uphill. I was lucky to not be in traffic at the time. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they reported the vehicle needed a new throttle body, and that this issue was common and that a recall was not in place. The repair cost is over $500.

37 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2019

While driving on a two-lane road, my engine went to "limp" mode, no power, rough idle and the dash warning lights (wrench, check service manual etc. ) all lit up. No power and costed to the side of the road. Shut off, then vehicle started normally before doing it a 2nd time. Had towed to the Ford dealer (ray schultens, the dalles oregon). Diagnosed as faulty throttle body assembly (Ford TSB 16-0139) not covered under powertrain warranty but this condition makes the vehicle inherently unsafe with no ability to control engine power.

38 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2019

Truck went into limp mode after stopping for a red light. This happened twice one day. Dealership said they replaced the throttle body assembly. When in limp it took forever to get through the intersection, long enough that the light changed back to red.

39 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2019

2015 F-150 3. 5l ecoboost driving on highway at speeds 60-75mph went to "limp mode" losing all acceleration with warnings "service advance trac" "hill descent control fault" and "hill start assist not available" along with the service wrench light. Resulted having to pull over on interstate 10 with busy traffic, also while in the middle of a traffic light turning left. This has happened 6 times. Ford dealer has diagnosed this as a throttle body issue and will be replaced at my cost.

40 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2019

Truck is going into limp mode randomly and idling rough with no throttle response. Getting dtc code p2112, electronic throttle body actuator stuck closed. Thoroughly cleaned throttle body and it is still happening. This happens randomly driving down the road leaving me with no throttle response.

41 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2018

My Ford f150 sometimes pulls to the left without turning the steering wheel and could possibly cause an accident if you are not aware of the certain pulling to the left. One must pay attention when driving between 30-55 miles per hour. I know it pulls when the road is dry and possibly when it is wet without noticing it. It does it sometimes when turning the vehicle as well.

42 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2018

I just returned from my Ford dealership today after my F-150 stopped cold and went into limp mode while I accelerated up a hill on hwy 78 in red lodge, mt. The dash lit up with a hill descent control and several other error messages. This would have been catastrophic if I had been accelerating while passing. The forums are full of similar problems and dealerships know they need to replace the throttle body. This should definitely be a safety recall.

43 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2018

Truck unexpectedly lost power while driving on state highway. Dash lit up with service advancetrac, hill descent fault, see manual, airbag fault, and the service wrench. Immediately went into limp mode. Turned engine off, restarted and continued driving.

44 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2018

While traveling at 65 mph on the interstate, the truck went into "limp mode" and I almost lost total control of the vehicle on both occasions. This happened two times during the same trip. The accelerator wouldn't work, power steering went out, and all stabilization control systems went down. I had to pull over a p2112 code was read from the check engine light. The problem is from a faulty throttle body which many, many consumers have reported. Ford denies responsibility. This truck cost $63,000 and has 40,000 miles on it. The failure of this part is causing widespread risk to drivers and should be forced on Ford to replace with a lasting part.

45 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2018

Truck goes into limp mode constant in middle of traffic. Severe safety hazard for all. Throws throttle body code. According to dealer its not covered in yhe recall or whatever Ford called it but its gonna get us killed.

46 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2018

2015 Ford F-150 ecoboost, bought April 2018 with approx. 67,000 miles, currently at approx. 75,000 miles. I am reporting the sudden loss of accelerating power as the vehicle shudders and stalls both when moving with traffic or accelerating to enter or move with traffic. Multiple warning messages including the wrench light flash in the dash message area as the engine slows to idle with no ability to accelerate and comes to a stuttering stop. The first occurrence was three weeks ago and has happened no less than six time since - twice while accelerating onto the freeway (very busy, very fast traffic) and twice while crossing or turning in multi-lane intersections from stopped. Four of the six times resulted in my vehicle dying in and obstructing traffic with and me barely getting to the side of the road without an accident. I now shift to neutral to let momentum move the vehicle as I worm through traffic to the side of the road. Shutting off and restarting the engine clears or resets the message and sometimes "downhill assist not available" with the check engine light comes on. The check engine light has both stayed on or shut off on restart. I can then drive on the vehicle's own power, though the problem has repeated as soon as two minutes later, or not for days. I have not had to be towed and no accidents have occurred. The north carolina consumer's council filed a lawsuit against Ford in 2015 which was settled with Ford offering an extended warranty only on the etb (electronic throttle body) of certain model vehicles - all with the ecoboost engine, and multiple customer service actions (csa's) that have since expired. A few minutes on the Ford forums online and it is apparent that this is a widespread problem with the ecoboost engine, and Ford has offered several bandaids, but none until after the etb has failed and lives been endangered.

48 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2018

Transmission downshifts violently for no reason. At around 20-30 mph and light throttle it feels like you hit a concrete post when this happens. Shakes the whole truck violently.

49 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2018

We had a throttle body issue this summer and had to have it replaced and towed. During driving, we lost all power, major safety issue! when I asked Ford about it, they said they didn't know about the issue; however they issued several recalls regarding this. This truck isn't in the recall, which makes no sense. It is evident that Ford has a major issue with their throttle bodies I have spoken with Ford several times, they are not helpful and are refusing to pay for this.

50 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2018

Fuelcanaster had under 36000 mile deal refuse to repair it under warrenty.

51 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2018

Truck stalls due to throttle body actuator sticking. Vehicle becomes disabled/stalled and applies the brakes. Occurs without notice at any speed. Occurs on highway, city streets, and dirt roads. Requires throttle body replacement. Similar recalls did occur for the Ford throttle body for other models and years (e. G. 13n03 program). Dealer indicates it is not covered under powertrain warranty (although it should be) and costs $600 to replace.

52 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2018

While driving the vehicle will go into limp mode and lose power the hill assist light flashes, wrench light comes on, engine light comes on. Doing research there is a throttle body issue but I wasn't aware of it. It very dangerous because you lose power and have no throttle response. This happened several times on city street an highway at speed.

53 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2018

While in motion truck cycles to full accessory power. Must pull over to shoulder, put into park, and restart engine. Driveways, city streets, hwys, it knows no bounds. . Read more...

54 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2018

This issue has now happened 6 times without showing a pattern. While driving the vehicle completely loses all throttle power and the message center displays service advancetrac hill start assist disabled and the abs and service engine lights illuminate. This has happened on back roads at slower speeds and on highways at 70 mph. Again, all throttle power is lost. This issue has been reported on numerous forums and there have been 2 consensus fixes, replace throttle body and an apparent issue with the tightness of a throttle cable.

55 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2018

Vehicle stalls out going down the road. Goes into idle mode and idles rough. Can restart after a complete shutdown and runs good until the next time. Has happened 4 times in the last 2 weeks. A real bad experience while on the interstate. Happened twice on the interstate and twice on a city street.

56 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2017

I have a 2015 f150 king ranch with the 3. 5l ecoboost. It has 41,000 miles and never had an issue until yesterday morning and today around lunch. This was from yesterday 10/23/ hill descent control fault service advancetrac hill start assist not available I was pulling out onto a highway and the truck began shaking violently, moving very slow with no acceleration, power steering was lost, and the dashboard was showing all the above errors. Luckily there were no vehicles coming when I entered the highway and there was a place to safely pull off the highway. The truck continues to idle rough and shake violently. And today 10/24/ I was driving down the interstate at 70 mph when the truck did the same thing as yesterday morning. I was able to pull off the side of the highway and shut off the motor. Once I restarted the engine, I was able to get it to the local Ford dealership. They say they have no idea why it would be doing this and have not heard anything from Ford or seen this in other f150's they have serviced. Update: the dealership claims the fix is in a faulty electronic throttle body and they replaced it at a whopping price of $770. A simple google search shows Ford has issues with etb's across vehicles of all classes and knows about it. In fact, some consumers seem to be involved in lawsuits against Ford because of their unwillingness to issue a recall before someone is fatally injured. These were scary, scary situations with my vehicle and thank god my wife and kids were not with me. There is obviously an issue and Ford needs to correct it at their expense.

57 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2017

I purchased a Ford f 150 with 11 miles on it in November 2015. It now has 14,000 miles on it. It has broken down three times for the same issue. It now has it's forth (4) throttle body in it. This is a safety issue. The vehicle goes into a crawl mode. It has occurred while driving on highways. Ford needs to replace this vehicle. It's a lemon.

58 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2017

Vehicle was on i88 westbound in 4:30 rush hour traffic near naperville, IL when the dash lit up, speed dropped dramatically and the gas pedal went dead-no response. Engine speed reduced to a rough idle. Had to somehow get to the shoulder to restart engine to get rid of the error. Was fortunate the problem did not recur until next day on side roads. Brought vehicle to willowbrook Ford dealer who replaced the throttle body on 8/17/2017. Why a service advance trac error message occurs for a fuel problem boggles my mind.

59 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2017

Truck intermittently and without warning lost power and went into "limp mode". Several error messages appeared on the dashboard including "hill start assist not available", "hill descent control fault", "service advance trac" and "see manual". . The wrench and engine lights also appeared. There would be no throttle response and the engine appeared to be running on 4 out of 6 cylinders. Took the truck to have the codes scanned and the following two codes appeared: p2111 throttle actuator control system - stuck open and p2112 throttle actuator control system - stuck closed. Took the truck to a Ford dealer and was told my VIN did not have a throttle body recall but in their opinion, it was a defective throttle body not covered under warranty. I replaced the throttle body with a bbk-1822 throttle body assembly myself.

60 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2016

Electronic throttle body assembly (etb) failed. Vehicle has 8206 miles on it. Bought brand new. While driving on a fairly untraveled road the engine power was cut and I had to coast to a safe location. The accelerator only allowed for a speed under ~4 mph which I needed to get on the side street. This happened again as I was exciting my driveway which is on a dangerous street due to curves (luckily there were no cars coming from either direction). This has been an issue with Ford and Mercury vehicles since at least 2010 based on my research. Ntsb has failed to have Ford recall their vehicles to replace this system. This issue results in (my experience) complete loss of power to the engine. It may also lead to full power to the engine. If either occurs it has a potential to result in injury or death (sudden slowdown in high speed traffic or sudden increase in velocity in an area with pedestrians). I do not understand why the ntsb has not made Ford conduct a recall considering the potential danger this may cause. Ntsb has known about this issue but has failed to force Ford to correct it. The issue appears to have started with the fusion/escape (plus two Mercury vehicles) and is now happening in F-150 trucks. I do not know if it is happening in other Ford/Mercury lines. Ford has failed to adequately prepare for their "we'll fix it as it happens" (so much for customer care) and I am now out of a vehicle for at least two weeks. Very disappointed in this company as I felt it was worth purchasing an american truck and that Ford was the number one world wide.

61 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2016

"check brake or check brake controller" appears on dash. Has occured twice in first 8,000 miles. Dealers clear code the brakes seem to be fine. Now " check hill decent" has appeared and truck will not accelerate more than 2-3 mph. This has occured twice in first 8,000 miles on city streets in motion or when starting from a stop light.

62 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2016

While driving on freeway at approximately 55 mph vehicle suddenly lost power. Several emergency lights sequenced on. I realized that engine was still running at idle and that vehicle kept moving at approximately 15 mph. Got off road and shut down vehicle and restarted it. Same problem existed. At idol speed vehicle would slowly move. Pressing accelerator pedal did nothing. Ford representative indicates that this is a widespread problem. No info yet on redesigned replacement part. I was told by dealership that the problem is the "throttle body motor assembly". I received no information from Ford prior to this incident and do not see a recall.

63 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2016

Got on I-95 south driving 65 mph smelling gasoline opened closed windows turned of and on a/c still smelling gasoline got off the highway at commerical blvd exit . Got out of vehicle to see gasoline pouring down from drivers side rear in front of right rear tire walked about 200 feet dialed 911 contacted police and fire . . Fire truck spread chemicals on floor now truck is in Ford to repair the gas leak . . When I have the repair bill I will know the exact part replaced. If the truck would have caught fire I would be dead there is no way to exit a burning vehicle at 65 mph.

64 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/31/1969

My truck has two issues . Back up camera is faulty and the dealer refused to repair. It was going on and off at times which is a problem when you are trying to back up and not have an accident. The truck brake pedal got stuck and it was causing my truck to rev up and down I was able to get it home and it cost me thousands to fix at the dealer. Red mccombs dealership on I 10 in sa texas is where I go they dont want to fix anything on a recall and you have to pay each time and then they dont fix. I could have had a serious accident each time but I feel blessed that I didnt.
