2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2026

This recall has not been handled by Ford motor company. My transmission is getting destroyed and starting to sound awful from the random downshifts.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2026

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 26v237000 (power train); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the transmission failed to shift out of 5th gear, with the check engine warning light illuminated and the wrench warning light was activated. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer who diagnosed with leadframe failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 183,000.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2026

Truck does not shift the gears when in drive but will in manual mode. No communication to the transfer case. Wrench light on.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2026

My 2015 Ford F-150 experienced a sudden, dangerous loss of throttle power while driving, forcing an emergency stop on the side of the road. The vehicle is now locked in a hard electronic no-start/no-crank condition. We diagnosed the vehicle and pulled active, stored trouble codes p0706 and p0707 for the transmission range sensor (trs). This failure matches the exact defect described in NHTSA campaign 26v237 / Ford recall 26s28. However, Ford corporate and the local dealership (washington Ford in PA) are actively refusing to provide an emergency diagnostic scan, towing, or physical parts replacement, claiming they will not honor the remedy until June 30th. This has left a hazardous, disabled vehicle stranded on my property. They have acknowledged this meets the criteria of the safety recall but want me to pay for the towing of the disabled vehicle, diagnostics, and repair upfront including the lead frame which the recall notice specifically states should be replaced because the codes were thrown before reprogramming.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2026

The vehicle lost power rolling from a stop sign, felt like it was trying to shift but wouldn’t then went into limp mode, drove fine the next day. The faulty lead frame is failing, it has no other cause. I refuse to drive and put myself and others in danger to prove it. The dealer said they couldn’t cover it because the code is not covered in the recall, they recommended a new valve body or transmission, they didn't even say why. They were able to recreate it wrench light. P2704 is the code they claimed with the 2 leading causes are valve body, they said my fluid was clean and the vehicle has up to date service with no previous sign of wear, or the lead frame going out, the actively recalled part. I tried contacting Ford directly and they refused assistance beyond “tow it to a different dealer” and then ended the conversation. It is a safety issue that I will not wait to have break if there is clear signs of it happening.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2026

My truck experienced a sudden downshift and loss of power, it threw a p2704 at the dealership but I don’t trust this dealership as they quoted me for a new transmission shortly after that, I tried calling the Ford service line and they did not pickup, I went to their contact and they said to tow it to a different dealership for a second opinion, it is a severe safety risk and it is certainly the failing lead frame based on the trucks condition and service record, the service advisor online then ended the chat with me after I asked for a supervisor. I am not going to harm myself or others waiting for my truck to prove it has a critical failure waiting. I have a clear service record up to date with nothing that would point at a valve body, the next thing in row that would throw that code, and I refuse to pay out of pocket for something caused by the broken recalled part. I can either continue to drive it till it fails or have it replaced now.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2026

Recall 26v237 / Ford 26s28** vehicle 2015 Ford f 150 VIN: [xxx] recall reference NHTSA recall: 26v237 Ford recall: 26s28 summary of safety issue my vehicle has begun experiencing the exact defect described in recall 26v237. The truck has twice downshifted unexpectedly to a much lower gear while traveling at approximately 35–40 mph. Both events caused abrupt deceleration and a momentary loss of rear wheel traction. Events • two unintended downshifts in the past two weeks • speeds approximately 35–40 mph • abrupt wheel speed reduction consistent with recall description • rear tires briefly slid until speed decreased • “check engine” light illuminated • powertrain warning indicators present diagnostic findings my independent mechanic retrieved five powertrain related error codes. He confirmed the codes align with the recall condition and that the downshifting behavior is consistent with a transmission control module fault. Safety concern the recall notice states that this defect “may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. ” because the issue has already occurred twice at moderate speeds, I am concerned that a recurrence at highway speeds could lead to loss of control. Remedy delay Ford and my local dealer (colorado springs, CO) informed me that the software remedy will not be available until June 30, 2026. The recall notice states that the remedy is “not yet available. ” current status given the active defect, warning lights, and repeat occurrences, I believe the vehicle may be unsafe to operate. I am considering parking the truck until a remedy is available. Request to NHTSA I am reporting this because: • the defect is already occurring • the recall remedy is delayed • the vehicle may be unsafe to drive • I want this documented in case the issue is more widespread or requires interim action I am requesting NHTSA review this case and determine whether additional guidance or action is appropriate. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2026

While driving at highway speed in 6th gear, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted into what appeared to be 1st gear without warning. Immediately afterward, the vehicle falsely indicated that it was in reverse while still moving forward, and the backup camera activated during travel. The sudden downshift caused abrupt deceleration and created a significant safety concern due to the risk of loss of vehicle control and the possibility of being rear-ended by surrounding traffic. The issue has occurred multiple times and temporarily reset after shutting the vehicle off and restarting it. During the most recent incident, the vehicle also experienced a delayed restart. The vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealership, which retrieved diagnostic trouble codes p0706, p0707, and p1702 related to the transmission range sensor system. The dealership diagnosed failure of the molded leadframe/internal harness in the transmission main control, causing transmission range sensor faults and erratic shifting behavior. The dealership advised that the repair would cost approximately $4,000 and stated that the repair is not currently covered under the active Ford transmission recall. Prior to the failure, symptoms included intermittent erratic shifting behavior and false gear indication. No collision occurred, but the vehicle behavior created an unsafe driving condition at highway speeds. The failed component should be available for inspection through the servicing Ford dealership.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2026

For the past several weeks, I have experienced an ongoing issue with my truck’s transmission shifting unpredictably. At random times, it becomes stuck in third gear, and while driving it has downshifted from fifth to third and then to first without warning. Even when stopped at a red light, the vehicle will sometimes remain in third gear. These incidents have created multiple safety concerns while driving and stopping. On 05/11/2026, my truck stopped completely in the middle of the road; fortunately, other drivers were able to stop and I was not hit, but I am concerned it is only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs. I also recently received a recall notice, which I was not expecting, and I had assumed this repair would be an out-of-pocket expense. I have contacted Ford regarding the recall repair, but I was advised they do not anticipate a remedy until July. Waiting several more months to drive a vehicle with ongoing drivetrain and downshifting problems feels unreasonable, and I am also concerned the condition may be causing additional damage to the transmission.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2026

The transmission downshifted at about 65-70 mph and after it stopped it wouldn't start or move. Towed to beach Ford and was quote $1700+ to fix. . Was told pan was pulled and they said "large chunks of metal were found". {not surprising after downshifting at 65+mph. . . } than I was quoted $7500+ for an jasper aftermarket rebuild transition and I would suppose it still has the potential for lockup, especially if Ford cant fix the problem until mid July!!! I think lives are at risk, the downshift is a very violent experience and total loss of control is very possible especially in wet or snowy conditions. . . I'm open to suggestions for additional contact information sen or congressmen . . . Thank you.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2026

I haven’t been in an incident yet with this recall. But I contacted Ford today to let them know my truck shifted down to 3rd gear from 5th gear. I informed them that when I entered my VIN on the Ford web site that my truck came up for a recall and that I contacted a local Ford dealer and they said they couldn’t do anything for me because the remedy wouldn’t be out till July 1. My truck is showing a wrench symbol after it shifted down and then it disappears. I told for this is my only transportation vehicle and that I can’t just go buy a new one. They said they aren’t releasing anymore information at the time and they aren’t offering rental vehicles to people with this problem but they aren’t telling people to not drive their vehicles either. I said what happens if I continue to drive my vehicle and it causes me to wreck. They said they couldn’t give me any information.

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2026

I am submitting this complaint regarding Ford recall 26s28 involving my 2015 Ford F-150. Ford has acknowledged a defect serious enough to issue a formal safety recall; however, there is currently no repair remedy available and no clear timeline for when repairs will be completed. As a result, affected owners are left operating vehicles with an acknowledged defect or are left without reliable transportation for an indefinite period of time. I contacted Ford motor company and requested interim transportation assistance or a temporary loaner vehicle while awaiting an approved repair solution. Ford denied this request, stating that my vehicle is outside warranty coverage due to age and mileage. Ford also advised that customers should retain receipts in case a reimbursement program becomes available in the future. My concern is that this situation places consumers in an unreasonable position. Although Ford has acknowledged the defect through a federal recall, owners are expected to absorb transportation costs indefinitely while no remedy currently exists. The issue is directly related to the recall condition, not ordinary warranty coverage or routine maintenance. I believe this situation raises concerns regarding the adequacy and timeliness of Ford’s response to recall 26s28 and the hardship imposed on affected consumers during the unresolved recall period. I respectfully request that NHTSA review the handling of this recall, including the lack of available remedies, absence of repair timelines, and lack of interim consumer assistance for affected vehicle owners.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2026

I was driving and came to a stop at a light, let off the brake and then my truck came up with a wrench light and wouldn’t read the transmission gear, cab tool pulled these codes u0402, p0706, p0707, p1702, p1921 all pointing at towards the 6r80 transmission for this lead frame/sensor failure. It will work after the truck sits off for a little while but once you start driving for a few miles it goes back into limp mode. I’ve seen you are looking into this as a recall an would love to see others get help with this issue before it’s to late like me now unfortunately.

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2026

While accelerating on a green light, vehicle shifted down to a crawl. Truck had an abrupt reduction in speed and was difficult to get vehicle to a safe place to stop. Traffic was heavy and dangerous, trying to get truck off roadway was very difficult. I had to park in a no parking zone to allow traffic to continue. The wrench warning lamp symbol did come on, and warning hill climbing is not possible. The roadway was flat, straight with no incline at all, and clear for easy traffic movement. It was sunny afternoon. I shut truck off and checked underneath vehicle. After 10 minutes, I restarted vehicle and warning lamp was off and truck operated properly.

30 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

Hard shifting, will enter limp mode in 2nd and 4th gear (usually will down shift to that gear). The check engine light will flash and I have to pull over, stop, shut off my vehicle and then restart it to resolve. I have already spent roughly $4,000 in repairs and still have continued issues. These issues started at approximately 100,000 miles, transmission was rebuilt at 110,000. The current mileage is 139,400.

31 Power Train problem

Transmission will down shift randomly or not even engage when trying to accelerate. It shudders or harshly shifts.

32 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

"my 2015 Ford F-150 is experiencing an intermittent, complete loss of the output shaft speed (oss) signal within the 6r80 transmission lead frame. While driving at speed, the speedometer suddenly drops to zero, the 'wrench' light illuminates, and the vehicle performs an unintended, harsh downshift into a lower gear (limp mode/3rd gear). This creates an immediate safety hazard of rear-wheel lockup or a sudden loss of acceleration in traffic. I took my vehicle to a local repair shop where they could not duplicate the fault. I then called my local Ford dealer who informed me unless it would duplicate the fault or show a code they could not repair the vehicle due to it being against warranty policy.

33 Power Train problem
