1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2026

On July 24. 2026 I lost all brakes in my 2016 Ford F-150 while towing a fishing boat. I had just decended a steep grade on a busy downtown street when I received an alert that I was low on brake fluid. The next pump of the brake went to the floor. I received an audible alarm. Had this occured on the steep grade, this could have been a very serious accident. I understand the loss of brakes was due to failure of the master cylinder just and as described by the open recall on my vehicle. I added a quart of brake fluid to an empty resevoir, tried to pump the brakes up and the fluid vanished. I could not find any evidence of a leak. Clearly the fluid is in the brake booster, which is also replaced under this recall. I had the vehicle delivered to the closest dealership, pierre Ford of lynnwood on Monday the 27th. The service advisor tod me he would need ot for two days. Four days later, the advisor text me to report that parts are not available, and that he would let me know when they were. I asked him to make sure that a vor report had been submitted so that my repair repair parts could be expidited by Ford corporate. He assured me the vor had been placed. Today, on July 31, I called customer care who verified my recall eligability, and also informed me that no vor had been requested against my VIN. I have found genuine Ford parts for the repair of my vehicle in many Ford facilities in the nation. I dont feel that Ford is working very hard to get my only vehicle back on the road.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2026

I have had issues with my door locks one by one for the last year until now all of them have failed and no longer work. I have mentioned this issue multiple times at bob tomes Ford in mckinney texas the last few times and got prices for the repair but it is a bit pricey. Recently I have just found out that Ford had campaign 20m04 to address these bad door lock actuator latches but the car has to be under 10 years old and under 150,000 miles. This service I am currently at the service department finally mentioned it to me and advised that I am out of the free repair window as I am now just over the 10 years and mileage and it will now be $2,400 dollars to repair this. I never received any kind of mailing announcing this recall campaign or was never told about it the numerous times I have been into the dealer in the past to bring my vehicle in for basic maintenance like I am usually told about other recalls. My very last trip here I was under the covered time period and nothing was said to me after I mentioned the door locks starting to go bad. I feel Ford and this dealership bob tomes Ford is deliberatly not telling customers about this so they do not have to repair it until the consumer will have to pay for the fix. This is incredible deceitful on Ford and the dealerships part and I feel that something should be done about this.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2026

The back-up camera went out. I see a recall for some Ford f150 cameras that have the same issue I have on my 2016 f150. Why did they not include other years in the recall?.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2026

Steering knuckle broke while driving which caused the driver to lose control and crash into parked car. After the crash, we reviewed what happebed and noticed the front passenger side wheel, rotors, control arms and brake line was completely removed from the truck. Also the steering knuckle was broken. This is what caused driver to lose control and crash.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2026

We received the safety recal 26v237 in may. Today 6/16/26, while driving the vehicle, it began acting like the recal said, however, the truck failed and will not start. My husband went and purchased a battery first because we didn't realize it was the recall at first. We cannot go without the vehicle. We will need to have someone tow the car once there is a repair available, however, in the mean time, we need a loaner/replacement truck. We called the number on the form, but they could not help with a failed vehicle and we called the manufacturer, but there is no button for the vehicle is failed and we need help. It hung up on us because they don't have a fix for the defect, there is nothing on the warning about what to do when the vehicle fails and you don't yet have a fix.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2026

The faulty panoramic sunroof is a known issue by Ford motor company. Yet they have done nothing to resolve it. The panoramic sunroof on the 2016 Ford F-150 is known to develop operational and structural problems, including sticking, binding, excessive wind noise, water leaks, and failure of the glass panels or sunroof mechanism to open and close properly. In some cases, the sunroof can become misaligned or the tracks and components can fail, resulting in expensive repairs and potential water intrusion into the vehicle. This recurring issue has been reported by numerous F-150 owners and can significantly affect the vehicle’s reliability, usability, and resale value.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2026

My truck violently downshifted randomly and caused me to lose control for a little bit. I was lucky to narrowly avoid a crash. The truck is showing transmission range sensor codes after the truck downshifts harshly. My local Ford dealer did a diagnosis and confirmed that it has a faulty molded lead frame. However, they are refusing to cover the repair and are saying that I either pay them or stop driving the truck because the lead frame replacement is not explicitly listed as a remedy on the recall even though recall 26s28 lists the lead frame as a cause of the issue and even says that dealers will replace it at no cost if it has already gone bad, which mine has.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2026

Rear backup camera failed and is just showing a blue screen or black screen with squiggly lines.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2026

The drivers side door latch froze and stopped working, the door wouldn’t close and the lock would glitch when trying to lock or unlock it, once the door did close it reopened while driving, so it never really closed all the way, and it started working just fine once the weather warmed up. There are recalls on this issue but not for my vehicle specifically.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2026

Going down the road the dash quite showing what gear I was in and then the truck downshifted to first or second gear while I was traveling 45 mph. Light then went off and could see gears again. Came back on within a mile. I limpt the truck home where it is parked until I can get it into the shop to be repaired. Codes were p070600-26, p07000-26, p170200-2e, p070600-27, p070700-27, p170200-af. Codes will just go away if the wrench dash light goes off and truck will drive normal. Wrench randomly comes on and downshift will happen before I am able to slow down.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2026

The rear window made a loud popping noise. It buckled and cracked. The window appeared to be sliding down. A lot of the edge pieces where the seal is broke off. Within an hour a large hole appeared as if it was hit by something. The Ford dealership in milford, CT told us to call our insurance company and get it fixed by safelight. We talked to our insurance company by phone. No one inspected it. No warnings or other problems.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2026

Back up camera malfunctioned, not showing there was a smaller car behind me in my own driveway. Backing up into my driveway at night, it did not pick up or show the smaller car which I back up into, causing $2890 in damages which I had to pay for.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2026

Back up camera safety, parking lot's and trailer hook up florida weather 40 50 degrees it works, warmer 60 90 and it's blue screen showed tech at Ford dealer cold morning it works, months before then they said replace camera. What changes in cold weather? wont stay cold in florida backup sensors still work, would be nice having it work.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2026

Our rear view (back up) camera on our 2016 Ford F-150 is not working properly. It gives a distorted image or not image at all or sometimes works. Our truck only has approximately 60,000 and this should not be happening. This is available upon inspection. Matter of fact, mel hambelton Ford dealership inspected it and told us "I'm sorry; there is no recall on your VIN #". I do not know how there isn't! my safety concern is that this can work when reverse and go out at any moment and potentially cause a crash. Not to mention, we bought this truck brand new and expect items to last as we take care of our stuff. This has been going on for at least the last 6 months and as I google and do my own review we are not the only people having this problem with our rear view cameras on our 2016 Ford F-150. We need a recall. We have a recall on our 2016 Ford flex rear view camera and that is working just fine. We had no warning lights or messages in our F-150 it just started acting up one day and not working.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2026

No incident yet, but the frame is rotted.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2026

Front driver side and passenger side door latches that freeze and do not latch when shut.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2025

My truck driver door won’t latch,in cold weather. Like it won’t catch when I try close it less I lock it then it catch but won’t close all the way tell it warm up. Seem like whn it’s down in teens a single digits or below and windy. I’ve had it happen two times so far. Thank you.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2025

Our 2016 Ford F-150 experienced a sudden, forceful, uncommanded lane deviation while traveling at highway speed. Without warning or driver input, the vehicle abruptly jolted into the left lane. The steering was corrected and returned to our lane, but shortly afterward the truck again forcefully veered left. The movement felt comparable to being struck by another vehicle. There was no oncoming traffic at the time; however, had there been oncoming traffic, this would have resulted in a head-on collision. Weather conditions were calm, roads were dry, and visibility was clear. Prior to this incident, the vehicle exhibited no warning signs, including no pulling, steering issues, warning lights, or diagnostic codes. We immediately pulled over and had the vehicle towed to a mechanic who inspected the truck but could not replicate the issue. Although the vehicle was later driven approximately 120 miles home and short distances locally without recurrence, we believe it remains unsafe due to the unpredictable nature of this failure. A vehicle should never abruptly and forcefully change lanes without driver input. We have also experienced ongoing issues with the key becoming stuck in the ignition and intermittent starting problems, raising concerns about potential electrical or mechanical defects. This incident involved two uncommanded lane deviations under normal driving conditions with no identified cause or warnings. Due to the risk of serious injury or fatal collision, this remains an unresolved safety concern requiring investigation. We are requesting that NHTSA review this complaint, evaluate whether similar incidents indicate a pattern or defect involving the steering, transmission, or electronic control systems in the 2016 Ford F-150, and take appropriate action to protect public safety. Once we receive the NHTSA complaint number, we will also be submitting a formal complaint to Ford motor company requesting a thorough investigation and resolution.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2025

Severe rust on frame, both sides. Mechanic refused to do service until rust situation is remediated. Said vehicle is unsafe to drive!.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2025

Vehicle: 2016 Ford F-150, 5. 0l v8, 6r80 automatic transmission mileage at time of failure: approximately 118,000 miles approximate date of occurrence: late 2025 (late October to early November) while driving at speeds above approximately 40 mph, the transmission would randomly and unexpectedly downshift, causing a severe and sudden jerking motion accompanied by extremely high engine rpms. After several seconds, the transmission would violently upshift back into the original gear. Most occurrences involved the transmission downshifting one or two gears; however, on multiple occasions it downshifted from 6th gear directly to 2nd gear while traveling at highway speeds. This caused the rear wheels to momentarily lock up, creating a dangerous loss of traction and loss of vehicle control. These events occurred frequently, including during short trips, and were not related to driver input, braking, or road conditions. During these incidents, the check engine light and wrench warning light would illuminate. Diagnostic trouble code p0720 (output shaft speed sensor circuit) was consistently stored. This pointed to a failure within the transmission molded lead frame, which houses the output shaft speed sensor and related circuitry. Due to the severity of the symptoms and the known issues with the Ford 6r80 transmission molded lead frame, I replaced the molded lead frame myself. After replacement, the erratic downshifting, wheel lockup, warning lights, and fault codes were completely resolved. The vehicle has operated normally since the repair. Ford has a documented history of issues related to molded lead frame failures in 6r80 transmissions, including erratic shifting and loss of speed sensor data. This failure presented a significant safety risk, particularly at highway speeds, due to sudden and uncontrollable deceleration and momentary wheel lockup.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2025

The voice recognition quit working on my Ford sync. When I took it in for diagnosis, an update was attempted by the Ford dealer and wiped out my system, which means I have no back up camera, no radio, no usb ports, etc. I was told this is something I have to pay for to get repaired. The primary safety concern is, according to the dealer, the update cause the apim module to fail, which means I no longer have a back up camera unless I pay for the repair.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2025

The hood is peeling the clear coat. The upper cab on both drivers side and passengers side from front to back is down to bare metal. Top of the pickup box is down to the bare metal along both sides. Tailgate top is down to bare metal. These spots are clearly do to the prep and paint work.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2025

On xxx, I took my truck to wynn odom Ford, [xxx]. The concern was the wrench light comes on at times. The correction according to the dealer is po722 pass replaced lead frame to valve body. The total payment I had to pay out of pocket was $1,875. 73. In xxx I received a letter from Ford motor company customer service division [xxx]. In this letter it read "safety recall notice26s28/NHTSA recall 26v237. This letter came in xxx and I had already previously had to pay out of pocket ein xxx. I am requesting a refund for the amount of $1,875. 73 due to their being a recall on my truck. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2025

While driving, the hill descent fault error would pop up on the instrument panel, the truck would begin to shake, and the gas pedal would no longer work. I would have to pull over, shut the vehicle off for a few minutes and restart it. This happened multiple time while driving on the highway and in town. After sitting in the driveway for while trying to get repairs scheduled, the issue got worse, and I would have to pull over every one to 2 minutes due to this issue occuring.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2025

When shifting into reverse, backup camera screen went to a constant blue screen — no rear image at all now.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2025

Faulty backup camera - resulted in backing incident and tailgate damage. Reported backup camera malfunction to NHTSA in 2022 and emailed photo of camera defect, but multiple news articles about f150's being recently recalled for backup camera issued. These recalls do not include 2016 models to recall for updates and need to be added. Approximate cost of truck tailgate replacement $1500.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2025

2016 f150, 6r80 transmission - threw codes p0720 and p0722, dealer indicated known issue under recall 24s37, but my VIN is not included, but should be. Unexpected downshift to first gear, check engine light, truck enters "limp" mode, only allowing 3rd and 5th gear - real safety issue - especially if Ford knows it has a fix - although parts are in short supply (molded lead frame).

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2025

The rear backup camera has malfunctioned and it is not working.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

The rearview backup camera on my 2016 Ford F-150 began malfunctioning around July/August 2025. At first, the image would flicker briefly when the truck was shifted into reverse, but it would return to normal after a few seconds or days. After about a week, the issue became constant — the display now stays completely blue whenever the vehicle is in reverse and no rear image is visible. This failure eliminates all rear visibility when backing up and creates a serious safety risk, especially in parking lots or residential areas where pedestrians, pets, or objects may be behind the vehicle. The problem matches the description of Ford’s current backup camera recalls (including 23s23 and 24s59), but my vehicle’s VIN does not appear to be included in those campaigns. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer or independent service center, but I plan to have it evaluated. The backup camera component remains available for inspection upon request. There were no warning lights, messages, or other indicators prior to or during the failure. Based on reports from other Ford F-150 owners, this appears to be a widespread issue involving the camera or wiring harness that results in a blue or blank screen. I am submitting this complaint to document the failure and safety concern, and to request review for possible recall expansion to include affected 2016 F-150 models. Photos of the blue screen and failure condition are available and can be provided for review upon request.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2025

Dear sir/madam, I own a 2016 Ford F-150. Over the past few months the vehicle will suddenly hesitate and downshift while driving and the mechanics symbol will appear on the dashboard. This happened to me a few times. At the end of June I had two different mechanics look at the vehicle and both kept the truck for a couple of days and drove it around and neither one could see a problem. I drove the vehicle from rhode island to pennsylvania and this happened 4 times during the trip driving on the highway!!!! it then happened again (with a witness in the vehicle) while driving. I could have been killed driving 70 mph on the highway during these times that the vehicle hesitated and downshifted. I researched possible recalls that I might have missed and learned of the investigation into by NHTSA by other consumers and I contacted Ford. When I spoke to Ford and filed my complaint I let them know I knew about the investigation by NHTSA and told them I could have been killed. It has been two weeks and I have yet to hear from them. I would like my vehicle repaired free of charge. We paid thousands of dollars for that truck and since this is a safety issue it should be recalled. Please contact me if you have any other questions. Thank you. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2025

I went for an oil change, tire rotation, etc at the dealer on 6/9/25 and was told that my frame had rust damage/holes and would not pass inspection this coming December. Went to ziebart on 6/11/25 and they confirmed multiple hole/rust damage on frame which needed repair. They were perplexed as no problem was seen at my last yearly check of the rust protection in July of 2024. Also, no mention of a potential problem was found at my last vehicle inspection in December of 2024. How does this kind of damage occur in 6 months? I'm reading on-line that this is an issue with Ford F-150s, but no recall?.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2025

After passing a car on a two lane highway 120 miles from home a wrench light came on and the transmission got stuck in 5th gear. We pulled over, stopped the truck and then it got stuck in 3rd gear and then the check engine light came on. The truck then proceeded to on into limp mode. At that point with the transmission clunking we and the truck shutting down we didn't feel safe driving the vehicle to our weekend destination nor did we feel safe driving it home as we had no idea if the transmission would completely fail. These were two lanes roads with not much shoulder and steep cliffs along the road in many areas and it was very unpopulated so any number of things could have happened to put us at risk. We had the truck towed 120 mileshome and taken to the nearest Ford dealership, which was larry h miller Ford in mesa, arizona. The wrench and check engine light did go off but the service center was able to find the codes when they checked and it was determined to be lead frame failure. They removed and replaced the lead frame. There was no warning or codes prior to this happening - only on the day it happened.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2025

When you put vehicle in reverse the back up camera has a blank screen.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2025

2016 Ford F-150 pickup has no backup camera or front camera. Resets have done nothing. Defective module, camera wiring or camera itself has to be defective. I heard the 2015 model Ford pickups have a recall associated with this problem.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2025

When traveling at around 70-75 mph the vehicle will downshift to 5th gear and vehicle speed drops as well, without warning. This causes the vehicle to not want to excel until it comes to a complete stop or turns off and then turns back on.
