Substantial amount of water coming in through rear windshield/rear sliding glass windshield door, causing mold.
I have a 2016 Ford F-150 with the 3. 5 ecoboost engine with 92,019 miles. This morning (9/11/2024) as I headed to work, I pulled out to cross highway 54 and the truck suddenly lost power. It would only idle. As I tried pushing harder on the gas pedal, it would not come out of an idle and I barely made it to the center divide with multiple vehicles headed right at my drivers side going 65 - 70 mph. The check engine came on and stayed on. The truck was shaking and vibrating tremendously. I could not leave the truck there as it was blocking traffic in both directions. I was able to back up and cross back over the highway and pulled to the shoulder. I turned the truck off and started to make a call for aaa when I received a notification from my bouncie. It threw a p2112 code throttle actuator “a” control system - stuck closed. After letting the truck sit for a couple minutes, I started it back up and was able to make it home.
This has happened on four separate occasions. When driving, we suddenly get a warning about hill assist, immediately followed by a warning about stability control, immediately followed by the check engine wrench light. At the exact same time, vehicle shakes very hard and loses acceleration, almost like the connection between the pedal and the engine was cut. Today, we were going about 70mph on the freeway when it happened, and all we could do was put the hazards on and let it roll in neutral. Luckily, we found a bit of shoulder to pull off on. Everyone was in danger because we lost the engine at speed. I'm scared to imagine what would have happened going up an incline. On each of these occasions, turning everything off, waiting, and then turning it back on was what it took for it to be drivable again. We have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they either sell us a 'fix' that doesn't work, or they tell us nothing is wrong with it. Looking at forums online, this problem seems to be one many people have experienced. None of them have found a solution. They suggest problems with wheel sensors and traction control systems. No one has gotten any answers from Ford. It looks like another manufacturer had a suit filed against them for the same problem. Either way, Ford is knowingly letting people drive around with vehicles that can lose engine acceleration power at any time, anywhere. We could have died today, and realistically, us and everyone around us are at risk of injury or death every time we drive this thing. We can't get any answers, and Ford dealership either can't or won't help.
During the scheduled oil change service on 8/15/2024, I was informed that wheel lug nuts were swollen and tire rotation and inspection were not completed, even though I paid for a maintenance package. I replaced the lug nut two years ago for the same issue, and this will be my 3rd time replacing lug nuts on the vehicle.
Driver side door some times will not close and have to lock and unlock the door to get it to close, and transmission is making hard gear changes. . . . .
Back up camera failure the day after I bought the truck from a dealership. With the vehicle lifted in the rear and the blind spots it has mirrors only do so much before you have to open the door while backing up just to make sure it’s good enough or you aren’t sticking out while parked. It hasn’t been professionally inspected. No lights but it started as a black screen with green lines and eventually turned to a bright blue screen that is blinding at night when trying to back up.
Nothing wrong.
The transmission had to be replaced. I knew something was wrong because the truck was lunging. I took it to the garage and the mechanic said not to worry because everything looked great. I was pulling down a tree and the transmission stopped working. I had to get the transmission replaced.
Exhaust manifold broken studs(bolds) causing exhaust fumes in cab. Carbon monoxide and also loss of performance. This is an ongoing issue with the 3. 5 l equal boost motors. Pre 2017. The 2017 motor and further have been redesigned. Why aren’t they doing a recall on pre 2017?.
Got into vehicle and before starting window just shattered. No issues prior with the rear window just random and for no apparent reason it shattered from inside out.
Backup camera only works intermittently. Half the time it only shows a "white square with a truck icon" instead of the actual view.
Take your truck to a Ford dealer to see if they car refresh or reprogram the tcm for the transmission shudder witch is being caused by the torque converter if they can’t refresh or reprogram your truck will need a new torque converter.
2016 Ford f150 platinum 5. 0l v8 with automatic 6r80 transmission. Erratic gear shifting while driving. Sometimes not getting out of/stuck in 3rd gear and sometimes not downshifting below 3rd gear. Orange wrench or illuminated mil light came on followed by a solid check engine light. Took it to dealership - dtc p0720 and p0722 appeared. Dealership tech states that he reprogrammed the pcm and output shaft speed sensor, and that the next step is to drive it and see how it does and if it didn’t fix the problem then he will have to change the molded leadframe. This issue is exactly the same issue as the customer satisfaction program 19n01. The safety concern is I don’t want to drive it around, waiting for the leadframe to fail one day while I’m driving down the freeway with my family in 6th gear and have the truck shift abruptly to 3rd or 1st gear and lose control. This issue is exactly like the 19n01 with the same 6r80 transmission.
My backup camera is not working, isn't that a safety feature? every vehicle except mine is being recalled for the backup camera. I want it fixed as I have small grandchildren and I live in a park where there are small children riding their bikes. Thank you sincerely [xxx] just want to let you know I did contact Ford motor company and they basically told me I could pay to get it fixed because there is no recall on it. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The driver door latch froze during cold outside temperatures and the door would not latch closed. I had to drive while holding my door closed with my hand. This is extremely dangerous. This is a known recall from Ford and the repair was already performed. This happened 2 days in a row. Tomorrow I will be contacting Ford for a solution.
Catalytic converters have failed for second time. 12/2/19 original catalytic converters failed at 48060 mileage and Ford replaced under warranty including the assembly. 12/28/23 replacement catalytic converters failed again at 92830 mileage. Neither the original or replacement converters were working at 50,000 miles or reached the national emission warranty of 80,000 miles. Reduced fuel mileage by 30% has been identified. Karl flammer Ford 41975 us 19 north tarpon springs FL 34689 indicates no Ford programs cover $4000 plus repair. Ford customer affairs pobox 6248 dearborn mi 48126 cas-47313386-z7s8v8 responded no programs cover this repair and they work with NHTSA on consumer concerns. The catalytic converters shouldn’t fail at low mileage in a Ford f150 especially twice with reduced fuel usage. As a senior, a $4000. Plus repair is a hardship for an equipment failure that should be either identified for recall or identified as a lemon.
Passenger side door lock actuator goes in and out. Sometimes the door will open sometimes it won’t. One time the door opened by it self while driving. I don’t know if it’s a short or what’s going on with it but it seems to be a problem with other Ford owners as well.
The rear window shattered spontaneously after using remote start. Problem has been reported a lot with 2015 and newer f150 trucks.
The frame on this truck broke. The frame tore in a manner that the lower control arm became disconnected from the vehicle. I recognize that l live in an area where rust issues are real, however l am also very experienced with metal working and fabrication and can reliably assure that corrosion is not the cause of this failure in the frame of this vehicle. I have attached 4 photos, those are of the front & back of passenger side (good) and driver's side (bad). Note the broken bolt head (toward the front) and the broken frame. This is the actual frame that broke and not a bolted on subframe and to me this is a serious issue. There are so many of these trucks on the roads l feel that l am obligated to make you aware of the problem. I thank you for your time.
Engine failure at 90,000 miles services all done at Ford dealership yet the engine still didn’t work somehow. Wheel bearing at 100,000 failing causing rattling of wheels.
The rear window adhesion has failed causing the rear sliding glass window to fall into passenger area.
The frame holding the panaramic moonroof in place has failed and cracked in two places leaving the panaramic moonroof loose and must be repaired immediately. The moonroof is apt to fly out or drop inside while driving on the interstate highway causing injury or death to the driver, passenger or others on the road. There have been reports noted online of the moonroof exploding while driving at high speeds due to the rattling because the moonroof is not secured properly due to the frame being cracked. This is a safety issue and must be recalled by Ford motor corporation immediately to make this repair for the consumers.
* what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? (exhaust manifold. Yes. ) * how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? (risk of fire, reduced engine performance and reduce vehicle's ability to respond promptly to driver inputs, squealing sound causing distracting driver, carbon monoxide exposure causing others put at risk. ) * has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? (this is first time I got issue but I see a lot of people reported that the exhaust manifold is the common issue for not just Ford F-150 but also any Ford eco-boost vehicles. ) * has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? (inspected by mechanics) * were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? (no engine light came out for this issue. Sound appear all of the sudden. ) warped exhaust manifold is common issue for Ford eco-boost model. Air is leaking through there causing the squealing sound while accelerate vehicle.
The trucks horn and hazard lights contiunsley goes off anytime it rains. We can be driving down the road and the truck will start going haywire, lights flashing horn won't shut off . There's been times when the truck itself wouldn't turn off even after removing the key . It's very bad wiring problem with this truck.
My rear view camera shows either a static rainbow screen while vehicle is in reverse. Or it shows a frozen faint image of what's behind my vehicle from the last time it was in reverse.
While driving the truck it suddenly and randomly loses power. Pushing on the gas pedal no longer makes the truck go. You have to coast to a safe spot, brake and turn the truck off, then restart it for it to start working again. The truck has a jolting motion to it when it loses power and until it is shut off. The truck has several indicator lights flashing like a wrench and something about hill assist not functioning. The truck sometimes has trouble starting after it loses power. Safety concerns are if this happens while trying to turn and there is on coming traffic you could get t-boned. If you are unable to pull over on the side of the road to restart the truck, then you risk being stopped in traffic and being hit from behind. This has happened on 3 occasions and happens randomly without warning. It has happened twice in one day. The truck has been to two shops who are unable to reproduce it and unable to find the problem. On-line forums lead me to think it is the electronic throttle body. A previous recall for this was 16b32. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by insurance company or police. The truck has three appointments with 2 different Ford dealerships and one independent auto shop coming up for further inspection.
Ford's aluminum lug nut caps are swollen and distorted. Ford put aluminum caps over a steel core which is causing the problem.
Rear window keeps shattering 2016 f150 king ranch have already replaced once now about couple weeks later did it again this is my fathers truck and he’s almost 70 years old and scared him !! this is a problem I called Ford and no help . . Need to stand behind their product!!! not fair for him to keep paying. .
Rear window shattered after use of defrost. Smell of burning wires/plastic immediately before. Looks like a burn spot at window base, last photo with white smudge.
My 2016 f150 moon roof track broke with 61k miles on it… it left my moon roof jammed open for rain and snow to enter my vehicle. After further research it appears that this is a common problem for this design. A Ford dealer quoted me 4k to fix…. If this does not qualify for a recall I have no idea what will. Please help all of us and make this a recall.
Warped exhaust manifold.
Unknown.
Panarama roof/front windshield leaks water. It sometimes drips through the dash and the electronics and may start to affect systems. This item has been addressed two times by the dealer, but the problem persists. Repaired 8/23/19, 3/30/19. Problem persists today. The truck is out of warranty now dealer will no longer address without Ford corporate involvement.
The trucks box frame is completely rusted. The truck is 6 years old, only been in florida and has 36k miles. The safety of this vehicle is compromised and this matter is urgent.
While driving on the highway at highway speeds 70 mph the truck automatically shifted from 6th gear to first gear nearly throwing me through the windshield. It went back in the regular gear and started driving fine within a couple of weeks it got to where it would shift erratically all the time and not start half the time at this point it will not start at all. The gear indicator light does not illuminate. The computer cant recognize what gear it is in. I spoke with a Ford representative there was a recall for 153,000 vehicles with the same problem but mine was not one of them. Upon looking into it further I found nearly 300 other drivers with the same exact issue. Later calling the Ford dealership to get parts to repair the transmission I was laughed at and told he has seven of those trucks waiting for the parts to fix them on his lot now. I spoke with a different Ford dealership that gentleman told me he cannot get them parts to repair them either even though the computer is showing that there's over 70,000 of those parts in a warehouse and that Ford was holding on to them like gold and no one could get them not even at dealership. There are many people on forums complaining about the issues and dealerships telling me they have trucks there with the same issues and no one can get parts. . . Seems to me that there is a major issue with these transmissions. One forum a gentleman stated that he changed the lead frame in the transmission and that was the entire problem. Any help from your offices great appreciate it by all the owners, myself included. I have been in the loyal Ford owner of my entire life and cannot believe how treating their customers! thank you.
