The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated while starting. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the cam phasers were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 127,220.

2 Engine Crank/camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2025

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the check engine warning light had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the cam phasers were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been serviced for the same failure with the cam phasers under customer satisfaction program: 21b10. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

3 Engine Crank/camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2023

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard a clicking sound coming from the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced excessive oil consumption. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the camshaft cam phaser had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, after approximately 23,000 miles the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the camshaft cam phaser failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
