Wiper motor, radio/ ignition system, remote locking/ unlocking & cruise control. 1st issue: wiper motor will not turn to off, the wipers run intermittently in the off position every 20-30 seconds the wipers will run. Pulled fuse until repairs can be made to switch and/or module. 2nd issue: when ignition is turned off & key removed, and the radio is playing or off, a low battery warning message appears: remove ignition key and turn off the radio. The issue will not cure unless truck is vacated & locked. Dealer can't replicate issue no repairs made but still occurs from time to time. 3rd issue: power lock/ unlock by remote does not communicate with truck intermittently, replaced both remote batteries still having issues getting truck to unlock/ lock. Dealer can't replicate problem & no repairs are made. 4th issue: cruise control will not disengage when pressing brake pedal, have to turn off cruise control from steering column. This issue never returned to date of this complaint, no repairs made. This issue should be a safety concern. With all the issues with truck no warning dash messages or lights. Went to start truck and engine would crank but would not fire. I tried the starting fluid test to see if it was an ignition problem or fuel problem. Gave a little shot of starting fluid into the intake and then tried to start. Motor acted like it was going to start but never started beings I didn't give it enough starting fluid to start because I'm not a fan of using it. With that I eliminated the ignition had to be fuel. I got on the internet and searched no start problem for 2006 F-150 and found a you tube video of the fuel pump control module rusting out. Went out and dropped spare tire and took the control module off the cross member and noticed the hole corroded through the housing just like the video. I got the upgraded part from a Ford dealer for $163 and installed. Runs fine now. My biggest complaint is Ford knows there's a problem since the have came out with an upgraded control module so why isn't this a recall? I live in a state that temperatures in the winter months can be below 0 degrees fahrenheit and drive an hour one way to work, this could have happened when I was on the road in extreme cold, could of had my two children with me broke down on the side of the road and cold out. Luckily it happened at home but still it was 4 degrees out and laying under my truck taking the module off was not very pleasant. Think this is something that Ford needs to do something about.

In late summer of 2006, my 2002 Ford F-150 began experiencing chassis electrical system malfunctions. Every time there was a rainstorm. Specifically, the windshield wipers ceased to work, the interior dome light would flash on & off, the blower motor for the heater would continue to run after shutting off ignition, the keyless entry system would not work, the abs warning light would come on. I took the vehicle to Ford dealer # 1 who, when I described the symptoms, stated immediately that the problem was due to water leaking past the lower windshield seal and shorting out the gem module and the fuse block mounted on the interior firewall. Dealer stated "this is an expensive repair, you might want to do the work yourself". As I didn't feel I had the ability to repair, I let it go for several weeks. In late November of 2006, I was driving to work before sunrise, in a very heavy rain, when the wipers shut off and the dome light came on making it impossible to see. I told my parents about this & they instructed me to take vehicle to Ford dealer # 2 for repair at their expense. Dealer # 2 was aware of the condition as well. The estimate for repair was $553 to repair the electrical components damaged by the moisture, and the vehicle would then have to be taken to a glass shop to have the windshield re-sealed. The work was declined, and I contacted Ford customer service explaining that as this was a safety related issue, known to both dealerships, I felt they should absorb some of the expense of making vehicle drivable during any weather condition. Request was denied. My contention is that since driving in a rainstorm without wipers and an erratic electrical system, and since both dealerships were acquainted with the condition, there should have been a voluntary recall, or at the very least, a TSB advising owners of the potential problem.

Water entering through cowling (the slotted metal piece between the hood and the wind screen) leaks into the passenger compartment on the driver side and onto the ignition components causing a short circuit of these parts. These parts are the fuse box(cjb), generic electronic module(gem) power distribution box(pdb) and other electroic parts and wire connectors. The parts thet do not fail will corrode and cause intermittent electrical problems. For example, ac/heater fan and turn signals will continue to operate without key in the ignition. Dome light and wind screen wipers will start and stop without being physically turned on. The engine will not start or it can stop without turning off the ignition switch. The repair is all affected parts must be cleared of corrision or replaced at consumer cost and the leak must be found and sealed. Ford has a service bulletin #16928 dated 6/27/03 on this covering F-150's from 1997 to 2003. This should be considered dangerous and there needs to be a manufacturer recall for this.

My Ford f150 truck caught fire today while parked outside a residential house. The fire department came and extinguished the fire. The truck is undrivable and will be towed tomorrow. The fire was from a faulty cruise control device.

(1) truck's bed spreading apart and ignition/wiring shortage (2) the bed of my truck has spread apart for no reason at all. I cannot even shut my tailgate. My truck's battery continues to run down. When I turn on my truck, the starter doesn't want to stop. A light displays, "door opened!" the windshield wipers stopped working. The music goes on and off. (3) I took my truck to the dealer to get the bed fixed. They set me an appointment. I made another trip over an hour one way to get fixed and then they didn't fix. My warranty has just recently ran out. I am having several problems and don't know what is the matter. I haven't had no luck with talking with a Ford mechanic. The wires in the steering column looks too tight or loose. There is a constant buzzing sound. My clock and mileage readings erases. My windows stop working. This only happens when I place the truck in drive. Most of the time everything starts working once placed in park. I only have close to 70,000 miles. This has been going on for months.
Consumer stated that with the key out of the ignition vehicle started up. Dealer claimed that gem module malfunctioned.

Vehicle is a 1999 Ford F-150 and it has approx. 54,000 miles on it. The evening of March 3 the truck began to run weird and it began to not run correctly. The morning after I brought it to a reair garage and the computer showed that there was a detination in the motor. The ignition coil was bad the mechanic informed me that he needed to replace all eight coils. This cost me 905 dollars. I don't believe that this problem should have occured because it has lower mles. I would like to know if this is an occuring problem with the 5. 4 triton v8. I'm not happy with the money that I had to put into my truck, I bought a newer vehicle to waive some cost of vehicle repairs but this was a rediculous amount for a repair.
On 5/3/02 engine check light came on and we took it to the dealership. They checked it and replaced the dpf sensor, updated computer and cleaned fuel injectors. The following week, I had trouble starting 3 times after work. The following Wednesday, my wife drove it to work and when she tried to start it after work there was a loud "bang" and it took another 1/2 hr to get it going. When she got it going again there was a loud "tapping" from the engine. We called the dealer and towed it in. They checked and said the coolant was leaking into the oil and the engine could not be rebuilt. It was going to cost us $4000 plus labor to have another engine put in. This vehicle has been very well maintained. On doing some research we found that this is a common problem with this particular engine, and there was a recall (#99b29) related to this problem that we never received. We ordered the truck in Jan 1996, and took delivery in March 96 which falls within all of the date ranges specified on f150. Com. We have since contacted our salesman, he checked out the problem and called us back telling us to bring it in. This will involve another towing and I'm not sure it will solve anything we do not already know. We do not feel that we should have to pay $4000 for an engine on a truck that has been well maintained. Where do we go from here?.

Was driving down road and consumer heard a loud noise. When mechanic checked spark plug just blew out. Contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing do to anything because it was no longer under warranty.
For the second time in 2 years the power control module has failed. The first time was just after I purchased the truck in April 1998. The engine will suddenly just die. This happened regardless of speed. The engine would, most times, require several minutes of turning the ignition on and off and cranking of the engine before it would restart. I returned the truck to the dealer I purchaed it from 3 seperate times. Twice I was able to drive it in and the last time required a tow. On all three occasions there were no error codes in the computer to indicate that anything had happened. The dealer replaced both the pcm and the ecm at the time of the third failure and that solved the problem at that time. On October 1 of 2000 my wife and I went to run a few errands. We had only traveled 1/4 mile when the engine shut down while traveling 25 mph. It took 6 attempts to retart the engine. We then drove another 1/2 mile only to have the engine once again shut down while traveling up a hill at 35 mph. The engine kicked back in before we were able to pull to the side of the road, so we continued on our way. On oct 2 drove the truck to a different dealer. Showed them the paperwork from 1998. Again when checked, no error codes. They had truck for 3 days but no failure. Agreed to replace pcm at no charge. As of 10/28 no further problem noted.
Intermittant failure of the power control module causes engine failure at highway speed with no warning. Complete power loss renders sterring/brakes inoperative.

Engine stalled in traffic, control module malfunctioned, shutting off all power. Cause not determined, occurred 4 time since July 15, dealer replaced control module 4 times, 30 to 70 mph.
Pcm module failed causing poor performance of transmission.
