Since purchase of vehicle three coils have gone bad and had to be replaced. I was told by the mechanic at a Ford dealership to not wash the motor on the vehicle. I was also told that they have had several problems with the coil configuration on all Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles since they switched to individual coils for each cylinder. This is very expensive to replace and it has to be checked on the computer to tell which one is bad.

Ford f150 xl 2000. 11/28/03 coil #2 had to be replaced. 07/08/03 coil #4 had to be replaced. 03/06/03 coil #3 had to be replaced. On 04/05/04 my wife bessie was driving and the truck stalled. The steering wheel locked up and she had no control over the vehicle. Luckily, she did not get into an accident. She came to a complete stop, put the truck in park, turned the ignition off, then turned the ignition key and the vehicle started up. My wife was very upset. I contacted chapman Ford rep. Bob 609-646-2000 concerning this matter. He asked me if I had the vehicle detailed lately. I advised him I had the vehicle washed last week. He advised me that water probably got into one of the coils and is causing the problem. I did not have the engine washed. These coils are defective. The vehicle bucks when the coils go bad and has very little power. On 07/02/03 the sensor and processor had to be replaced. Vehicle stalled while driving 65 mph on 2 occasions. I lost complete power of the vehicle. Luckily, there was no accident. It costs over $200. 00 to have the coils replaced. I have spent well over $600. 00 in coil repairs. Ford nor chapman Ford have compensated me for the defective coil repairs. I have a total of 8 coils and they are going bad one after another. After doing extensive investigating gentillini Ford tim champion in woodbine advised me that chapman Ford should have fixed the sensor and processor for free because it was under warranty. Chapman Ford charged me for the sensor and processor. I communicated with service mgr. Jim bailey @ chapman Ford for several months concerning this matter. Chapman Ford finally reimbursed me for the sensor and processor.

My '03 f150 fx4 4x4 has what I suspect to be an ignition problem that the local dealership service department cannot duplicate or diagnose. I have had the truck since July 03 and it has been to the dealer twice. Once without a "service engine soon" light and I was told they could not work the truck due to warranty issues without the light. Then in November the light illuminated and I took the truck in for the light and the four wheel drive inoperable. The four wheel drive was fixed by replacing the front differential, right side axle housing, shifting fork and gears. But the ignition problem was just as illusive with the light and the code. Now I still have the problem of the truck dying out as usual and my fuel economy is degrading. The truck will die out and recover causing the truck to buck severely, possibly causing the 4x4 problems mentioned earlier. It is at its worst at 1450 rpm or 59 mph. Once 1500 rpms are exceeded the problem is gone. I can also accelerate through it without experiencing any problem. Just steady-state operation without any load and it will die out repeatedly.

Just had my 2003 f150 5. 4l fixed after the #3 spark plug blew out. New plugs and heads cost me $4000. 00. The heads are the updated version Ford now has. The original were 3 threads, allowing for the plugs to blow out before the 100,000 plug replacement. They now have 7 threads. Ford needs to recall and repay us.
Spark plug blew out of #3 cylinder 2000 Ford lightning pickup 37,500 miles.
Spark plug self launching from Ford f150 5. 4 l engine.
Spark plugs rusted/seized into the cylinder head causing it to have to be removed in order for the (rusted/broken) spark plug remains to be removed. Poor design allows standing water to accumulate around the spark plugs causing the rusted condition. When I notified Ford of this problem, and included photos of the rusted and broken spark plugs, I was told simply that the truck was out of warranty, and no adjustment, or reimbursement would be made for the repair. Additionally, the factory installed spark plugs were not the correct ones for the engine. They were even two different part numbers. (I still have them) Ford had no comment or explanation for this and has refused to allow me to talk to their technical experts/engineers about this problem.
Whle traveling at highway speed a spark plug broke. As a result of broken spark plug, engine started knocking severely. Truck had to be towed to a Ford dealership because of damages to head and rocker arm.

Passenger side rear cylinder spark plug mount stripped and blew the spark plug out causing engine damage. Dealer told me the head needed to be replaced $$$$. I contacted Ford and they couldn't find any information on the problem I had. They forwarded the complaint on to their engineering department and I have asked for an arbitration package for the 'dispute settlement board'. Same problem as oid 760618.
Contacted Ford on national 800 number. Supervisor said Ford will not admit occurrence of spark plugs blowing out of their engines. However, they were quick to respond they would replace the aluminum head for $1,500. . . . Says it is not a Ford defect. However, I am finding this is a fairly common problem. The local Ford shop says they routinely see this problem and it is only covered if under warranty. Since my truck is a used vehicle . . . Not covered. When the spark plug blew out, the sudden bang and following loud noise caused me to swerve on the highway. . . . Fortunately there was nobody next to me at the time. I got the impression from the national Ford rep. They will continue to ignore this problem until the government forces them to do something about it.
I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden the engine starts to make a popping sound. I pulled over and raised the hood. The #3 spark plug had blown out from its seating in the cylinder head. I had the truck towed to the dealer and they replaced the cylinder head. This is a known problem and could be very dangerous because of the location of the fuel injection rail. The sparkplug is located directly below the fuel rail. If the spark plug comes loose and it flies into the fuel rail, the rail could burst causing fuel to spray inside the engine compartment igniting a fire. The spark plug problem was taken care of by Ford, however nothing was done to guard the fuel rail.
Vehicle intermittently stalls at slow speeds. I started logging dates and mileage of stalls since September 1998. Dealer has tried several times unsuccessfully to diagnose and correct problem. Informed me in October 8, 1998 letter that they were discontinuing service on my truck. Letter states, "if and when the vehicle begins to exhibit this concern at a frequency that would be considered abnormal by Ford standards, we will be happy to meet with you to discuss our options. " what is "abnormal by Ford standards?" when someone dies as a result of this problem?.

While decelerating or coming to a stop vehicle stalls unexpectedly which causes a loss of power steering/brakes , etc. Please provide further information.
Purchased vehicle new in April 1997. From the third week of owning vehicle, engine shakes, sputters, and stalls when driving. Ford has attempted 13 times to fix problem. They replaced the engine long block on 7/24/00. Engine exhibited the same problem less then 1000 miles later. Ford once again replaced only (bad parts) in long block this time. Till this date engine still exhibits same problem. Ford's position is their representatives made the decision my vehicle is fine, so I'm stuck with it. Today, oct 22, I have another appoitment because of a loud rattle and engine problems. If requested, I can submit all invoices.
Twice in the past 6 months, I or my wife had the vehicle just turn off. When it shut off for my wife, it happened at 45mph. She lost pwr steering but was lucky in getting off to the side of the road. After 5 mins of trying to start the truck, it started and didn't happen again till August. It happened while I was driving.
While parked with the engine turned off and the key removed, the vehicle has attempted to start several different times over the past few days. There was no one in the truck. The vehicle ignition attempts to engage and jumps forward or backward depending on the gear the veicle was in when parked.
Vehicle stalls for no reason intermittently, dealer changed fuel, but that failed to correct the problem.
One week after repair were done same problem arose. No safety defect indicated.
While driving, the engine shut down, causing the consumer to lose control of the vehicle. Please describe.
Consumer can hear a clicking noise coming from ignition when the key is not in ignition. Consumer stated vehicle was parked in first gear when it inadvertently started and hit the house.
Vehicle inconsistently stalls for at low speeds / traffic conditions.
While traveling and without any indication vehicle stalled. Engine check light came on, and steering wheel locked up. Please provide further information.
Engine shakes and is not performing on all cylinders due to spark plug failures/rusting that is caused by uninsulated a/c pipe dripping water on to spark plug. Yh.
While driving and without warning spark plugs burned out, and vehicle became inoperable. Dealer has been notified, and has serviced vehicle for same problem twice. But had no solution for problem.
