We just took my 2016 f150 ecoboost to west texas over thanksgiving. Towed under 7500 lbs. Towed completely normal the whole time (15 hours) until the return trip home. About 2. 5 hours into my return trip (I was towing without my husband and with two young kids on a back highway with no cell service and absolutely no stops for 2 of those hours😯) I pulled over to see where my next gas station was and my truck died. It would restart but would die again. I finally figure I'm screwed, I'll try and just hit the gas and go. So I took off and blew through a stop sign and didn't stop until I reached a gas station, where it died when I stopped. . It was Saturday afternoon and all the repair shops were closed and there weren't any parts stores open. I finally unplugged the camper, thinking it was draining my battery and started it up and gassed it to get it going and didn't stop until I reached sonora and camped for the night, about 20 miles away. And then my truck was totally fine after that. I never hooked the camper back up and I had filled up the gas tank and put fuel injection cleaner into the tank and didn't have any more stalls. The only light that came on when it stalled was the battery light.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. While driving, the vehicle idled without warning. The contact had to pull the vehicle over to restart it, but it continued to idle. The maintenance warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel injection control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The dealer was not notified. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 05v270000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The approximate failure mileage was 98,778.

The vehicle began to smell like raw fuel, particularly at stop signs or intersections. The smell appeared to be coming from the engine bay. Upon disassembly of the intake components of the engine to expose the fuel injection system, it was evident that the fuel rail had begun leaking raw fuel inside the engine bay. The fuel rail developed a speck of corrosion about 2-3mm in diameter on the top surface of the rail. The corrosion evidently penetrated the entire rail and became a pinhole leak. Raw fuel was seen leaking up and out of the pinhole. This happened on the passenger side fuel rail, which is positioned inches away from the high voltage coil pack, and above the exhaust manifold as well. Called Ford customer service hotline and was told there is no recall for it, no extended warranty program, no assistance whatsoever. Ordered a new fuel rail through local Ford dealer for $500 dollars (4 times what a typical fuel rail costs); part has not been shipped, dealer unsure if Ford has any in stock or is even making the part. Truck has been inoperable for over a week with no way to fix it.
I was travelling on a 4-lane, 65mph highway when I floored the gas pedal. The truck failed to accelerate as it should have. Instead, it acted as if it was coasting. There was no power for several seconds even when I moved the gas pedal to different positions. When the truck finally seemed to resume power, it started to shake violently. The shocked passenger and I looked at each other, then I checked to see if there were parts strewn on the road behind me. Suddenly, it smoothed out and there were no more issues on that trip. I had been driving that truck for about 10 hours with various forms of precipitation at the time. This was December 21, 2013. The second incident was on December 28, 2013. Weather conditions were sunny and dry. I had been driving about 50 minutes. I floored the gas pedal again to overtake a vehicle and was barely able to overtake due to no power. Again, I worked the throttle to no avail. The truck finally recovered but started shaking violently again. As before, it smoothed out. I took my truck to a local Ford dealership where they told me it was showing no codes and that their techs could not reproduce the symptoms I had mentioned. I checked on NHTSA website and found this issue is under investigation. I do not agree with the service bulletins. My theory is that there is a computer programming problem specific to this direct-injection, turbo gasoline engine. I plan on trading for something other than an ecoboost engine, as this problem is dangerous.

This will be the third time advising NHTSA and Ford concerning the same problems stated before. Those are the the rear end shuddering upon acceleration, the whining noise from the rear end, the automatic transmission slippage, the whining noise from the power steering unit and last but not least the brakes constant squealing. I have gone to three different Ford service centers in three differeent states. Ny,NJ,nc. Of all the dealerships svc centers mahwah Ford in NJ spent the most time investigating these problems. Shultz Ford NY and cella Ford nc forget them (no help what so ever just a bunch of lame people with lame excuses)total visits 6 and nothing has been replaced even upon my insistance. I owned a 1998 F-150(best truck to date) I'm sorry that I traded it in for this 2004 bucket of bolts.

I purchased this vehicle Aug. 31,2004. At approximately 700 miles the vehicle was returned to the dealer for vibration in the steering wheel and tires. After multiple attempts to repair the problem no solution has been found. I have been informed by the dealer that Ford is aware of this problem and is working on it but at this the vehicle can not be repaired. The engine has a rough idle when hot, or sitting at a stop light, this roughness transfers to the transmission when driving. The dealer states Ford will not allow repairs to be made for this problem at this time. I am very dissatisfied with this product and the manufacturers response.
