1 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 1995 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/20/2020

While driving my dual tank 1995 Ford F-150, using the rear tank, I noticed fuel being forced out of my front fuel filler cap. Not sure how much fuel was pumped out prior to my noticing. I had to let the truck sit while the fuel vapor dissipated. I finally got it home using the front tank. Not sure what to do with it now.

2 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/07/2020

Smelled gasoline odor inside vehicle after cranking on a cold day. I drove it for several miles. I parked it. I was in building for about 15 minutes. When I came out, I smelled gas outside vehicle. After leaving I then took vehicle to crossroads Ford quicklane in cary nc. They found the plastic fuel line had split lenghtwise on top of fuel tank. They told me it was spraying gas. Part was apparantly defective. I am sure it could have caused a major fire or explosion because of being not far from exhaust pipe. Part replaced was 9l3z-9s278-b. I am wondering if there have been unexplained fires or explosions because of this. Repair cost was $569. 89.

3 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 1995 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

My truck has dual fuel tanks. Fuel from the front tank is diverted into the rear tank. This causes the rear tank to overflow gasoline out of the gas cap. This happens when the truck's engine is running and it is stationary or in motion. I have to make sure the rear tank is never more than half full to keep this from happening. When I first discovered the problem I looked online and found other owners of this truck having the same problem. I believe it can be a fire hazard if leaking fuel should contact the trucks exhaust system. I own another Ford f150 truck with the same problem.

4 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 1993 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/13/2015

Stopped at service station to fuel vehicle. The vehicle has dual tanks. The tank select switch was in the rear tank position. Was going to add fuel to rear tank because the front tank was indicating 'full' and the rear tank was nearly 'empty'. Opened the front tank gas cap by mistake and fuel shot out as if under pressure all over the side of my vehicle and onto the ground with enough force to wet my shoes and the bottom front of the left rear tire. There was about a quart of fuel ejected. I put the cap back on and closed it until it clicked, as usual. Then I proceeded to put fuel in the rear tank.

5 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/06/2015

The truck is equipped with a cap less filler system for the fuel filler. The mechanism that controls this has failed leaving the fuel filler door to not close properly and it flaps in the breeze as you are driving. This leaves the gas line to the tank exposed and is certainly a safety issue. Normally Ford has a 36mo/ 36000 warranty and on this truck there is an extended warranty of 100000 miles but when contacted about the issue they said this isn't covered and there would be a charge for repairing it. This is a safety issue as far as I'm concerned and they should be addressing it as this has become standard on all of their vehicles.

6 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 1994 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/10/2014

This vehicle has dual fuel tanks. The front tank supplies gas to the motor. The rear tank does not seem to fuel the motor. Gas from the front tank is forced into the rear tank until it is pressurized to the point of coming out through the cap. If the cap is removed, both fumes and gas spill out of the filler neck. I am reading now that this is a problem with this vehicle during or around the 1994 time frame. Is Ford attempting to correct this problem? this is not the first time I have had this problem. It has happened in 2011, 2012, 2013 and now in 2014, but I've never known this could be a factory defect.

7 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2001 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/28/2014

I filled the fuel tank with gas and drove about 20 miles. While pulling into a restaurant at about 5 to 10 mph I went through a very slight dip. I heard a soft thunk and heard something dragging on the ground. It was not real loud so I slowly pulled into the parking lot. When I looked under my vford F-150 I noticed that the gas tank had dropped due to both straps breaking. The rear of the tank was held up by the hose going to the gas cap area. Fortunately, this did not happen at high speed or I may not be around to report the incident. I called Ford and they state that this VIN number did not have nay recalls. The customer resource person (800. 392. 3673 option 1, 5, 4) stated they were not aware of any government number where I could call in this complaint. I quickly did a web search and found this number so I find it hard to believe they did not know about it. This is a very serious safety issue that could very easily lead to serious injuries/death to occupants of the 2001 F-150.

8 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/06/2013

I purchased my Ford F-150 new in August 2010. I noticed in September 2013, my fuel filler door was not closing, and after further inspection I noticed an inner mechanism, that allows the door to remain closed, was broken and no longer kept the door closed. This plastic door costs approximately $75. 00 to replace, significantly more if the dealer installs it. The frustrating thing is my son-in-law, as well as my brother both own late model Ford F-150's, and both have had the same problem. Ford (through their dealerships) hasn't felt the need to make good on an obvious workmanship issue, so the consumer is left to replace this door every 3 years or so. I should also note that having the door completely secure and closed is important to keep water and other debris out of the fuel tank, as the fuel tank on the late model F-150's does not have a fuel cap. We haven't heard of any recalls, or plans for one, but hopefully you've heard enough complaints that something can be done. Thank you.

9 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 1997 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/06/2013

1997 Ford f150 4. 6l 4x4 fuel line is leaking above the transmission where the lines connect between the fuel filter and the top rear of engine. Fuel lines are rubbing on the frame of the truck. Ford has recalled over 600,000 of this model truck for this problem in August, 2000, (Ford mfg. Recall# 00s22) but after speaking with Ford motor company, they stated that my truck was not a part of the recalled trucks even though my truck fit all of the criteria, such as model, date, time, and place of manufacture to the letter. I was told that less than one percent of trucks were affected even though Ford recalled over 600,000 of these trucks for this issue. I've had a previous issue with fuel tank falling out of truck due to faulty straps. Ford replaced straps, but would not repair damaged fuel tank. The fuel system in this truck is very suspect.

10 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 1987 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/30/2013

Dringing home, engine started sputtering, strong smell of gasoline. Gas spilling from front gas cap. I have had this in for repairs and no one seems to know what is wrong with the vehicle. Vehicle starts at times but seems to be flooding itself out and gas continues to spill from front tank. I believe this to be a rather significant safety issue but Ford wants $900 to fix. Note: they have already charges me $200 for a repair that the vehicle did not require.

11 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/12/2013

On Friday 4/12/2013 I was in a very dangerous situation. I was driving my 2011 Ford F-150 home from a night out with the family. It was kind of late, when I ran over an exhaust pipe, which was laying on the road. I did not see it. It was a fairly small pipe. Once I stopped I realized that it put a hole in my fuel tank. And it was gushing out fuel. It was coming out faster than water from a kitchen tap. Luckily I was only two blocks from home, right across the street from a fire station. I was able to get my truck home, once the fuel was out of the tank. There was a split in the tank about 6 inches long, like it had been cut with a very sharp knife. This is a plastic fuel tank. When I look up fuel tank part number 9l3z-9002-b on Ford parts dot com for my truck they also show a skid plate number 9a147. My truck does not have this part. The fuel tank is an obsolete part there are only 4 in the nation available. I am looking. Not having this part is a safety issue.

12 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/22/2012

Driving home from work (50 miles each way) started trip with 1/2 tank of gas gauge reported I had around 180 mile to empty. 20 miles later got the warning tone that I was 50 miles from empty. I worked my way over to exit the freeway within four miles as I was exiting computer read zero miles to empty. As I was turning into the gas station truck died. After several tries truck restarted and I got into the station to pump in some gas. I put in five gallons be certain that it was more than enough to get me home. Computer then read 190 miles to empty. Drove the final 25 miles home when I arrived home the computer was reading around 25 miles to empty. I checked the engine compartment and underneath looking for and smelling for fuel leaks. Nothing was found but there was an indentation in the tank behind the forward band holding the tank. I opened the fuel door and while messing around with the cap-less system I heard and felt air rushing into the tank. Local dealer re-flashed the computer per a TSB. Four days truck dies again. Started trip with 159 miles to empty 1/4 tank 18 miles later it is reading 35 miles to empty 5 miles later it died showing 7 miles to empty. I the put 6 gallons of gas in computer reads 24 miles to empty. Back to the Ford dealer they call to say that they believe it is the fuel level sensor but want to keep the truck for another day and put some more gas in at my expense. They ordered sensor and had me take truck home till part came in. Return to Ford Thursday morning to have sender installed later in the day I receive a call saying my fuel pump is bent so service is not covered by warranty they saying that I must have run over something or gone off-road and damaged the pump. In looking at the pump today yes the rods are bent but even the mechanic agreed that there is no visible physical damage to the tank itself.

17 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/28/2004

Tailgate straps are the same length, but when you put pressure on the tailgate, only the lh tailgate strap supports the tailgate. The truck has vibration and steering wheel nibble problems. They have balanced the tires 4 times, replaced the tires. The fse from Ford took the vehicle for a ride and said it needs a new driveshaft. The brake dust is a big problem. You need to wash the wheels daily. Ford now has updated pads. I hope they replace them under warranty. Two of the rotors are also grooved. The truck has 3000 miles on it. It has been in 5+ times now! the ac unit only had 22 ounces of fliud in it. It is supposed to have 30+. My air was verified to be 8-10 degrees warmer than spec. The gas door (spring) broke. The paint on the hood is flawed. It didn't get fully sprayed on the right front of the hood. Both sides of the rear diff. Are wet. Something is leaking. The seatbelt stitching is coming apart.
