1 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 1998 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/18/2019

I was filling my fuel tank and another customer pointed out there appeared to be something dripping from my truck. I found that as I filled there was a steady stream coming down what appears to be the framework holding up the fuel tank and dripping to the ground a couple of feet forward of the filling point. As the tank filled it appeared to also drip directly under the filling point. I did find there was a recall for the fuel strap which I was never notified of even though I have had this truck registered in ohio for about 18 years and thus registered in the rust belt states. We did not notice any dripping at our home, only on filling the tank.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/19/2019

When filling gas tank, station fueling nozzle did not shut off, overflowing truck fill pipe. At next fueling, gas pipe was still full of gas at top flap valve; could not put gas into fuel tank. Took vehicle to dealer; who indicated that fuel tank was "collapsed" due to vacuum created by stopped up vent system. Fuel tank and accessories being replaced, but dealer charged me for work. Safety issue is collapsed fuel tank may break, leak and cause a gasoline fire, at any time. There is a system design flaw, or critical equipment item failure, that would not function properly when tank is overfilled. It is not uncommon that fuel station gas valves on end of station hose fail to shut off when tank is full, so the fuel system design should take this fact into consideration. This is a severe safety hazard which could result in an accident, fire and/or death.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2001 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/18/2018

Fuel tank / filler hose leaked and fuel ran onto the ground while filling the tank with gas, due to a hole caused by significant rusting.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/03/2018

We are experiencing separate serious safety issues with our F-150: 1. The capless gas tank system causes the gas shutoff when refilling to not stop at full. This causes gas to spray in an arc for 3-4 seconds - covering both people and the ground with approx 16-24 oz of gas. 2. The front doors, when subjected to freezing temperatures will open but will not reclose until the latch mechanism is c ompltwtely defrosted - approx 15 minutes. This means that during that time the doors are unable to be closed at all. Additionally, the rear view camera/driver information screen is shorting out, causing the camera to be stuck on or the inability to toggle to navigation or features beyond the main screen until a minimum speed (approx 15-20 mph) is reached.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2001 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/23/2017

When filling my gas tank a week ago, I noticed a strong fuel smell. I looked under my truck and saw fuel dripping from the seem of the gas tank. Now that I've lost half the fuel it no longer smells or leaks. Im certain this was a direct cause of salt chemicals used in ice removal, here in northern mn. The straps and frame cross member bars holding the cargo bed in place have also disappeared from rust corrosion.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/28/2017

Vehicle has less than 5000 miles, and each time I enter my garage I smell gasoline. It appears to be coming from the "easy fuel" capless fuel tank filler. It has not been overfilled, and no fuel is spilled on the cap or near it in the bottom. Seems like gas vapor is exiting through the cap and filling my garage with fumes.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/20/2015

Vehicle is a 2012 Ford f150 3. 5l v6 ecoboost. Vehicle had a full tank of gas (30 gal tank). Vehicle gas gauge began to drop quickly. Compared to trip counter gallons used, vehicle showed empty tag after only using 9. 2 gallons. Upon filling gas and pump entering fill hole, pressure from the tank was released more so than any other time. Gas gauge repeated same issue upon adding the 9. 2 gallons to fill the tank again. Gauge once again showed empty when approx 10 gallons were used.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 1989 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

Drove home after filling fuel tanks. Parked truck in garage and smelled gas. Checked 1989 Ford f150 fuel tank and it was leaking onto the floor of the garage. Removed 1989 Ford f150 from garage to driveway to check the problem out more. Removed rear fuel tank gas cap and gas stared running out of the tank on to the driveway. Gas stopped running out after a few minutes. Could this cause my Ford f150 to catch on fire and burn my house down as the garage is under the house. I see there was a recall for this problem with 1989 Ford f150. Can I get Ford motor CO. To fix this problem before a fire occurs. Need help to get Ford motor company to fix the problem. Thank you.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2009 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/15/2014

This has occurred many times. The vehicle stalls when slowing down due to the fuel pump inside the fuel tank getting bent upward due to the tank collapsing on itself because it is not designed to vent properly. I have already replaced the fuel pump but it only corrected the problem temporarily because it has been bent as well over a short period of time. The gas gauge reads improperly as well due to the pump not reaching the bottom of the tank. I can only fit about 17 gallons into a 30 gallon tank upon refilling. The stalling that this causes has almost caused me to have multiple accidents. I have researched this problem and have found many other owners to have the same problem and have had accidents. Ford refuses to correct the problem without charging. It is very expensive to have the fuel pump replaced and that does not fix the problem. This is a design problem that Ford needs to repair. Please require Ford to recall and fix this design flaw before someone else is killed or injured.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/19/2013

Truck has a 36 gallon gas tank. Fuel gauge does not go to full when filled. While driving fuel gauge goes to empty and message center comes on low fuel 10 miles to empty. Tank still has 20 gallons or more in tank. When filling with gas after this happens there is a high pressure release of gas fumes from the filler neck when pump nozzle is placed in the neck. An audible whoosh sound is made and the build up of gas fumes is consistent with every time the gauge and message center think the tank is empty. When starting the truck after this occurrence it takes 2-3 tries before the engine will start. The engine malfunction indicator lamp will come on for 3-20 minutes before going off. The Ford vehicle health report reads "engine, transmission, amp; emissions. The truck has been serviced 8 times with no corrective results. My major concern is the build up of fumes and the possibility of fire. It appears that Ford has known of this problem with trucks having 36 gallon tanks since 2008 based on comments from other owners when I googled my problem. To this date Ford does not appear to have a solution to the problem.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

As I am pumping gas, there is significant seepage. In some cases, I have to stop half way through because the seepage is so great. During this last incident, I took pictures of the area where the seepage was trickling down and showed to dealership. They were unable to replicate and insisted that it was due to overfilling my tank. I told them seepage occurred throughout the fill up process. This was their second attempt to diagnose the problem. There is an issue with the fuel gauge. One moment I will have 90 miles to empty then within a few miles, I am at 50 miles to empty.
