Seat Belt Problems of Ford F-150 - part 2

The airbag warning light appears on my dashboard. I took it to my local garage and he scanned the system that shows code b1214:13-8b - passengers safety belt retractor pretensioner deployment control. I called Ford corporation and they said there are no recalls, however, I went online and a Ford recall #17s17 exists (recall #17v472000).

I was pulling into my spot at work and the power steering assist light and pre collision assist lights cam on along with advance trac. At this point I had no power steering. Luckily I was basically stopped. I cycled the key on and off twice and it finally went back to normal. Then later that same day I started the truck up and proceeded to leave from work and the seatbelt restraint light, abs system, and tpms stopped working and I was notified of the faults via Ford pass. The lights then went away right after. I have a service apt 9/29 at the dealer to see what is going on but I’d like to get this documented in case it becomes a recurring issue. Thanks.

Both my airbag lights remained on & off between 2017 until 2019, after more than 4 repairs 2013-2015 on the airbag system, according to the dealer I have to change the evaporator every 2 years. But since the last repair of the a/c in 2015 it is still working. In 2017 I had some throttle problems, I had to clean my fuel injectors and throttle body and change the sparkplugs. Both airbag light remained on/off. On 26 January 2019 my power steering failed and both airbag lights remained permanently on. I had to buy a new racking pin February I 2019. With regard to airbag lights after scanning they told me I have to change the oct ,or the airbags, after the latest scan July 2019 I had to change both seat belts. I still have not change them. I donot trust them any more ( the dealer went suddenly bancrupt Nov 2021) I have the impression my problems are either factory made maybe recalls can shed more light and or bad unprofessional service. My latest problem since 24 sept 2021 is failure of the transmission 6r80 the scan result p0720, p0722 recommendation replace lead frame connector, the filter, gasket and the oil. Nhtsa & Ford have recalls/csp since 2016 till end 2020 on the lead mold frame problem . According to the new local dealer I am not eligible for the recall/csp because 10 years has passed . " the warranty cover a total of 10 years or either 150. 000 miles whichever occurs first" , . I bought my f 150 XLT 2011 3. 7l ecoboost on 13 April 2011 but my mileage is since 24 September 86. 681 miles . Can I apply for recall or csp ? my result of VIN # says 0 unrepaired recalls , what does that mean . I have sent fomoco 3 letters since October 2021 they never answered me . I am an International /foreign client living in curacao former netherlands antilles. Do we share as clients the same benefits as USA clients?.

Unknown our F-150 was hit by a driver from a side street. The whole passenger side was damaged, front fender replaced, front door replace, post repaired, back door replaced, back panel of truck replaced, and back wheel. The long step was pushed up and under vehicle. It was replaced as well. The side airbag did not engage. I was thrown around in the passenger seat. I experienced a contusion on my right knee and three days later diagnosed with side impact whiplash. The truck was declared not safe to drive while we were trying to get estimates for repairs. They were concerned that the airbag didn’t go off and the door was not closing correctly even after they tried to tweak it. Our truck was towed off by the insurance company to a secured site until we could get it towed for repairs. We were never told why the airbag didn’t go off.

Rcm has lost communication all fuses are in working order. Pre collision has stopped working my parking brake, hill start assist and seat belt warnings have stopped as well. Air bag light, traction control, abs light and check engine lights are on in dash board. My truck only has 49000 miles on it and a major component has gone out how could this be my fault.

I’ve been having problems with my truck since my purchase date June 29 of 2021! I own a 2011 Ford f150 super crew! my truck has been to the Ford company at least 5 to 6 times. I have inform the service team that this is a business truck! I have bought a new battery because I was told I was having low voltage but with the new battery I am having the same issues! I have had actually weighed a problem her assembly problems I have had my brakes replaced in the rear I have had converter problems and I was also told that I should get a tuneup but didn’t need it! I have had some bad experience with my Ford f150 2011 super crew and all I ask is for a better experience! I’ve never had an accident in his truck! I never had a accident in this truck!!!! I have had so many problems with the truck!??.

Tl the contact owns a 1996 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the driver's side seat beat anchor rusted and detached resulting in the seat belt dragging on the ground. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but offered no assistance. Electrical : radio will randomly cut out. Typically when truck starts radio wont work. Have to either wait hour, or disconnect battery. Seems like typical issue. Seatbelt : passenger seatbelt wont retract back. Can hand feed then pull out by hand. Called dealer said 3 year 60 thousand for warranty im over 3 years and at 71k miles. The seat belt from my 2021 F-150 cause shoulder pain. Since the vehicle in the dealer for a month I have to drive a rental and the shoulder pain went away.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the seat belt failed to lock into it's buckle. The buckle fails to activate the lock and release the seat belt. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph when a vehicle slipped on ice in front of their vehicle, in order to avoid crashing, the contact ended up steering into a nearby ditch crashing into trees. The seat belt buckle failed to secure the seat belt causing it to swing and hit the contact. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was not towed. A police report was not filed. The contact stated that the seat belt caused his teeth to be fractured and medical attention was needed. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who had not diagnosed anything regarding the seat belt as of yet. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,00.

My driver's side seat belt does not work at all for the past 6-8 months its been stuck and locked and it doesn't release the belt at all so I been driving without a seat belt for awhile now it needs to be repaired and as for the other issues unknown like bank-1 & bank-2 not working properly also evap-leaks and sensors not working.

Seatbelt chime/ alarm is defective. See all youtube videos showing so. Seatbelt light and chime continuously stay on and chime alarm continuously rings even while seatbelts are on & locked in position. This is very distracting and a dangerous situation for drivers attempting to make it go off/ work correctly while driving. This seatbelt chime is defective is both when driving / in motion and stationary. Body/windshield area structural defect- there is a hole/opening that allows rain/ water to leak into interior of truck, leaking water inside truck interior from upper build seam, through the grab handle located at side of windshield in front of front passenger, then liquid drips down onto carpeted floorboard. This body structure defective opening/ hole is located somewhere between upper windshield seam and the interior front passenger grab handle at windshield frame. Water drips through this handle. This windshield leak defect occurs when the truck is in motion and when stationary. Electrical/ignition switch- turning on track with ignition key, ignition switch does not always perform correctly. It often disallows the ac, the windshield wipers, and backup camera to work, while everything else is working. Because everything else may be working, the driver may not notice that the ignition switch has been turned on incorrectly. This defect, especially the back up camera not working, and windshield wipers, is dangerous. The switch should be made to consistently work at all times the same way. This defect is noticed when stationary, but often when it's too late and in motion.

The driver door came open and wouldn't close. I had to hold the door closed while I drove home almost 40 miles away!!! it was very difficult to hold because it kept wanting to fly open. On November 01,2020 I was involved in a vehicle rollover in my Ford f150 2003 which the airbags did not deploy. Airbag light was on and seatbelt locked I was entertaining intersection and almost through it when another vehicle ran the stop light causing me to rollover one in half times. Airbag did not deploy and seat almost detached from cab.

Was driving on highway, cruise set at 55mph, came over a hill to a car stalled in the road. I couldn't stop, both vehicles declared total loss. Direct hit, front of my 2105 f150 to the rear end of a Ford focus, approximately 40mph. Seatbelt tightened and locked up, left bruises across my hips, airbags did not deploy. Hit my face in the steering wheel, bruised knees on dash.

I was in front end collision at approx 50 mph impact and seat belt did not lock and the airbags did not deploy. I hit steering wheel in collision.

Driver side airbag did not deploy on a frontal crash. My daughter was driving hwy 583 in wilkinson county ,mississippi when the vehicle went off the pavement striking two large trees.

The seatbelts in the back seat are installed to high causing the belt to cross over the neck which is a safety concern in individuals 5 feet 4 and less which can paralyze an individual on impact. The seatbelt is not adjustable unlike the front seatbelts. I contacted northside Ford in sa and they did not any accessories. This is a high safety concern. This is a concern for my 14 year old son.

I recently financed a truck and the seller did not disclose that it was a flood damage vehicle. I did auto check and found out there was also recalls on the truck when he sold it to me. That he didn't fix recalls are for the seatbelts n the bolts for the seabelts. The truck also is leaking oil. He also tempered with the engine lights because it's leaking oil but no lights turned on. I want a full refund of every dollar I have given him. He also lied on the odometer .

Vehicle was purchased in 2017. In 2018, occassionally noted that the passenger airbag indicator would switch to off while a passenger was in the seat, with seatbelt fastened. Approached my dealer with the problem, they read codes and found no faults. During a long road trip in 2019/2020, a pattern emerged: when vehicle first started and passenger present, passenger airbag system indicates on. After 20-30 minutes of driving, indicator goes to off. About 50% of the time, unbuckling and retracting passenger seatbelt, then rebuckling, and indicator will come back on. If this fails, truck must have ignition turned off before it will reset and switch airbag on. Have been told by dealership that this vehicle is not part of the 2014/15 recall for issues that match these symptoms. Also told that my expensive extended warranty may not cover a fix (to the main safety system??). . . It is dependent on shop inspection and diagnosis.

While vehicle is sitting stationary or parked. During rainy weather water leaks in at top of rear door at the top latch where it runs down through the panel exiting at the first seam where it runs down the outside of the door panel to the mat. The seat belt behind the panel gets wet and water gets on the electric door lock window controls. The water runs forward to the front passenger floor where it collects (by the gallon) under and on top of the floor mat.

I purchased a certified used Ford f150 from fullerton Ford in somerville, NJ 3/13/2020. There were multiple repairs to be made on the vehicle prior to me taking possession that were not completed. I later found out that the vehicle was also subject to recall 18v-568 which was also not completed. The dealership refused to do any of the work they agreed to do and then refused to answer any inquiries by me and I ultimately had to take the vehicle to another dealer to have to recall work done.

Rear driver's side seatbelt is binding against rear window frame and when rear seat was flipped up with vehicle off, stationary, the rear fixed driver's side window shattered. Glass shards are now all over interior and personal materials.

My transmission downshifted from 5th gear to 1st gear in Nov 2018. The transmission then would no longer shift due to the damage it caused. I had the transmission rebuilt by Ford. Soon after the repairs Ford released a safety recall for the exact problem. I took the vehicle in and they performed the recall service. I asked about reimbursement for the prior repairs and was told yes it would be covered because it was caused by the recall. The truck continued to randomly shift to neutral or skip gears. I took it back in. They said it was caused by the rear main seal, this has nothing to do with shifting. The transmission has never leaked. The issues continued on until on February 27th the transmission dropped to 1st gear on the highway (65 mph) nearly causing a major accident and throwing me against the steering wheel. I just contacted Ford recall department and inquired about full reimbursement and to notify them that this happened again. They said they would not reimburse me any $ and ignored my complaint about the transmission downshifting like that again. I am now sitting with a sore back, $4,000 repair cost and a truck that may put my life and any passengers life in danger while in the vehicle.

My vehicle was stationary parked in my drive way, as I came out from my house (around 8pm) I noticed the windows looked very dark and I could not see in the truck. I opened the driver door and was overwhelmed with a dense electrical burn smell coming from the cab of the truck. The fire looked like it stayed near the roof of the cab and originate from both center podium seat belt mounts. Both seat belt mounts attached to the rear doors for the front driver and passenger had extreme amounts of heat originating from that area. The plastic around both these areas has completely melted away and caught fire to nearby work items on the backseat bench. Smoke damaged everything inside the cab of the vehicle. Smoke covered all windows and everything inside the cab. Vehicle electric system still functions for locking and unlocking doors. I have not attempted to start vehicle, smoke smell and damage to intense to enter vehicle. Found an article on tourqenews. Com about related cases of Ford f 150 seat belts electrical mechanism catching fire from years between 2015-2018. No recall issued yet that I know of. Will attach article if I can.

Vehicle lets water into the doors. Water does not drain properly. Seat belts get iced over in cold weather, causing them to not work properly. They do not retract, hold tension.

Tl the contact owned a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while traveling at 73 mph, he attempted to depress the brake pedal and the brake pedal broke without warning. As a result of the brake failure, the contact rear ended an 18-wheeler truck. The air bag deployed upon impact however, the seat belt failed to retract. The contact received medical attention at the scene and was later transported to a hospital. The other driver was also treated at the scene but his injuries were unknown. The contact sustained a broken right arm and a broken right femur. A police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a local junk yard. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 141,000.

Pretension on drivers side has been replaced 2 times now has to be done again after4 months. . Passenger side air bag light keeps coming on. They say nothing is wrong with it.

I was on my way to work the morning before thanksgiving. I shifted from 2nd to 3rd gear and the back tires hit a patch of water and I started fishtailing. I went off the road and hit a patch of oak trees. One head on. On impact, the seatbelt did not retract and I hit the steering wheel, the dash broke apart and the entire steering column moved with me and I hit the windshield. After hitting the windshield, then the airbag deployed. When the dash broke apart from the steering column moving, it cut my shin which required stitches. My knee hit around the emergency brake release which drove my femur into my hip fracturing it in 3 places which required 3 titanium plates and screws. I had an open fracture on my arm which was the head of my radius (elbow) broken off which had to be replaced with more titanium plates and screws. I broke the orbit over my left eye and sinus cavities behind it. I had stitches and staples in my forehead that will now leave me a scar for life. I spent 15 days in the hospital, I've missed a month and a half from work and don't know when I can go back, accumulated over$80,000. 00 in medical bills, and I'm still in a wheelchair. All of these injuries are due to faulty seatbelts and airbags in a Ford motor company's vehicle. The vehicle was bought brand new by my father and has been garage kept since it was bought in 1997. I work as a receptionist and office manager for a doctor's office. My face is the first one seen when patients come through the door. Now, it's mangled and scarred for life.

On October 3, 2019, a car failed to yield and drove in my path. I collided with another vehicle at 45 miles per hour with my 2017 Ford f 150 XLT. I was traveling south at 45 mph and the other vehicle was traveling east at 15 mph. The highway I was traveling on a 4 lane city street that had a 45 mph speed limit traveling south. The other vehicle was traveling east down a 2 lane city street with a stop sign at the corner. The other vehicle stopped at the stop sign and proceeded to pull out in front of me. I am receiving treatment for my injuries.

On 9-14-19 I got into my truck to drive. Without realizing it, my seat belt did not recoil the last time I got out of my truck. When I reached to put the seat belt on, without knowing it, the seat belt wrapped itself around the seat reclining handle. While driving I stopped at a light and the belt must of tightened up more and pulled the reclining handle which put me in a lateral position while driving. If I hadn't pull myself up by the steering wheel and slam on my brakes, I would have hit the vehicle in front of me! I am afraid to drive my truck anymore without checking on the seat belt every day.

2018 Ford F-150 in motion approximately 45-50 mph. Struck by oncoming vehicle. Airbags did not deploy and seatbelt failed to work properly.

Seat belt pretensioner. The front middle seat belt is stuck causing the middle seat to be stuck in the down position. The middle seat can not be used.
