1 Software problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/11/2024

My 2015 Ford F-150 truck has had multiple issues related to performance issues, with only 80,000 miles on it. I have had issues with it losing power while driving, both with and without towing a trailer where it just powers down on the highway from 70-75 mph down to 40-50 mph in traffic. I usually just have to pull over, turn the engine off and then turn it back on and everything runs normal. It is currently at phil long Ford in colorado springs, CO, having the short block and driver side cylinder head replaced at 80,000 miles because it was smoking out the exhaust and they determined that it had coolant leaking into the #4 and #5 cylinders. This is after it had a completely new engine installed at 75,000 miles due to coolant leaking into the 3# cylinder and causing severe damage to the engine. It was in the repair shop from August 2023 until late December 2023 because the engines were are backorder. The passenger side cylinder heads are currently on a 13 month backorder according to the dealership, which is why they are only replacing the short block and driver side cylinder head this time, after only 5,000 miles on the replacement engine. I have also received multiple recall notifications regarding this vehicle, the most recent of which was on 4/22/2024 for #24e03 powertrain control module software update, none of which have been repaired during the multiple times and extended durations that my vehicle was at the Ford dealership for repairs. Two recalls existed and should have been repaired when my vehicle was at the dealership between August and December of 2023, and the most recent recall shows "no remedy available" for a pcm module software update?.

2 Software problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/14/2019

I received notice of recall to schedule repair (software) upgrade. I contacted the dealer several times to only be told to keep calling back to see if they have received the software upgrade from Ford. They said there is no problem with continuing to drive the truck until the problem is repaired.

3 Software problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/20/2019

Approximately two months ago I purchased a used 2013 Ford F-150 from a local dealership in warren, michigan. Recently I received a notice in the mail detailing a recall regarding vehicles equipped with a 6r80 transmission sudden downshift (safety recall 19s07). After receiving my powertrain control module software update approximately two weeks ago from szott Ford in holly, michigan, I expected my transmission to run smoothly. Six days ago, while pulling through a busy intersection, my vehicle would not leave first gear. Somehow, I avoided being hit from crossing traffic. Shortly after avoiding an accident, the vehicle then switched abruptly from first gear to fifth gear (going around 10 mph). After pulling into a parking lot I turned the car off. When I restarted the car, it started in fifth gear. The car would not go into manual and would not leave fifth gear. At no point during this time did an engine light come on. After switching the car into four-wheel drive everything seemed to be working smoothly again. I immediately took my car into the dealership once again. The dealership has informed me that everything is working properly and since no engine light came on there are no problems to diagnose or fix. Safety recall 19s07 did not fix this vehicles issues. Last night the same thing happened again. It would not leave 1st gear. I put the car in park and the car would sit in second gear then jump to 5th gear. Very dangerous pulling out in front of anything because the car basically stalls in oncoming traffic. Safety recall 19s07 did not work.

7 Software problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/08/2016

In 2016 I went to get recall repaired from franklin TN dealership I purchased the truck from, they refused, in 2019, they claim that the software was not available from Ford, online in emails to another dealer, I have not been told when to bring truck in to get all recalls repaired. Both dealerships are in TN. When in first gear, the truck will jerk back down and won't allow me to go to 2nd gear without pressing hard on gas, loud fan noise from the hood, breaks go to the floor and I have to pump to feel truck slowing down, air and heat continue to not work, air won't get cool and heat won't get hot, both dealerships have refused to repair or blamed Ford for not giving them what they needed to fix the recalls. I am documenting so my family will be able to give this to attorney. The down shift happens when the truck is in drive moving on any and every street, parking lot, stop light/sign. The loud fan noise from the engine only happens when the truck is started, the brakes have been going to the floor for 8 years at different times of the day/night when driving.

9 Software problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/22/2012

I purchased this vehicle for my son in December 2012. We took a trip to alabama on the Saturday following the purchase. The truck had problems stalling, misfiriing, and not braking immediately. We have taken the truck to the Ford dealership for repairs approximately 15 to 20 times. It is in the shop again today for the misfiring/stalling. The service writer told my son that his vehicle has only been the shop twice for the same problem. We still have all the service paperwork to dispel that remark, this vehicle has approximately 24,000 miles on it. The factory warranty expires in December and has still not been fixed. It does not just stall in rainy or very humid conditions as stated by Ford in their response to the NHTSA investigation. They have replaced spark plugs twice, updated software, put a heat shield in front of the inter-cooler. None of these things have worked. The shield in front of the inter-cooler defeats the purpose of the inter-cooler by not allowing it to cool as intended. It raises the temperature in the intercooler in an attempt to produce less condensation. My son believes the inter-cooler has a design flaw. He thinks that the air return from the inter-cooler to the engine being on the bottom allows more condensation to be sucked back into the engine. If it were on the top, more of the condensation would stay in the bottom and not returned back to the engine. There is an after market fix for this problem but it is expensive and I believe Ford motor company does not want to spend the kind of money that it will take to fix this problem correctly. This vehicle should be able to operate efficiently under any conditions. If it does not, it is flawed. I will probably have to purchase the replacement inter-cooler out of my own pocket. I've included all this information in the event that it helps others with the same problem.

12 Software problem of the 2000 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/01/2007

Ford motor company is not contacting current vehicle owners of serious recall notices. I surrendered my 2000 Ford f150 pickup to barber Ford of ventura, California when I traded it in for a newer model. Since then, I have received numerous notices on safety recall #05s28 for this vehicle. I have contacted Ford motor company numerous times and asked them to contact the current owner with no resolution. I have now received another notice dated July 2007. Today I called the NHTSA to file a complaint that Ford is not contacting the current owner of the vehicle of a serious safety recall per federal regulation. I was told by your staff that she would not take a complaint, that I needed to contact Ford, or the CA attorney general's office, or the federal trade commission. I have already contacted Ford numerous times with no resolution, was referred back to the NHTSA by the CA attorney general's office, and referred to the NHTSA by the federal trade commission. So, here I am, back to you, the NHTSA. Ford motor company is not complying with federal regulation and nobody is willing to enforce the regulation, not even the NHTSA. Any suggestions????? thank you.

13 Software problem of the 2006 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/01/2005

Spark plugs on the 5. 3 liter engine when replaced break--in return the book said pull engine and pull heads to replace spark plugs. The law suit filled Ford admits to bad decision on spark plugs and will reimburse some of the cost. The cost is very high--the book and Ford's shop said the engine needs to be pulled to pull the heads to replace the spark plugs. There was never any software updates, and now the vehicle requires them. The error in the cluster software recall was suppose to be repaired and I read from the experts all software should have been upgraded with the cluster error. There are 42 p. M. Ford and nhsta knew or knows about on my vehicle and nothing has been done, I am a 100% dav and my vehicle has been broken down. The 2006 harley davidson F-150 that cost so much with it's on board computer system does not work. I have read many complaints about the F-150 engine cutting out, I pulled out to pass on a two lane road and almost got killed when mine cut out so bad. A two cylinder would have done better than that v-8.
