1 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/25/2017

On 11/25/17 I was travelling on the highway at approximately 65 mph and the truck started bucking and downshifting. I was able to safely pull off at the next exit and park the truck and had to have it towed to a trusted repair shop. The truck was still bucking fairly violently even at slow speeds while I was trying to park it. The truck would also not shift into reverse. Repairs were performed and a transmission shift solenoid and harness was found to be faulty.

2 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled on the highway without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted after it cooled off. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who repaired the variable speed timing solenoid. The remedy did not repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 1,334,000.

3 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2006 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

Ford's iwe solenoid has a tendency to malfunction due to a poor design. TSB 06-8-15 was issued to replace these solenoids, but only if there was a problem and only if it was giving a problem. My vehicle was in storage for 5 years and after it was brought out and to NY, the water leaked on the solenoid due to the inadequate design, causing the iwe's to malfunction. I still don't know what exactly it did but driving the car down the road, it caused me to feel like I was driving over small speed bumps with the front drivers side tire. I'm afraid that if this failed at a high rate of speed it could cause the iwe to engage and possibly lock up one of the front tires.

4 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

Vehicle stalled as if out of fuel, despite having been recently filled with gas. Fuel monitoring system (tank level gage and range computer) indicated that vehicle was using fuel at much higher rate than normal. For example, normal range of this truck when 36 gallon tank is full is aproximately 570 miles. After 250 miles, guage was showing tank out of fuel and range computer was instructing me to refuel. Refilling only required 15 gallons, indicating reduced tank storage capacity. After performing research via internet, suspected bent fuel pump mount due to failed tank purge valve. Brought vehicle to dealer for service who found stored p-1450 code which indicated a prior failure of the fuel vent purge valve. Dealer dropped the tank, removed the fuel pump assembly and verified that the mounting system for the pump assembly had been severely bent when tank collapsed under atmospheric pressure. Negative gage pressure inside of tank caused plastic fuel tank to collapse, severely bending fuel pump mounting hardware which is constructed of two 3/16" diameter steel rods. Apparently the purge valve failed and either there is no pressure relief system, or it failed. Dealer replaced pump and purge solenoid valve at onwer cost of $950+. Dealer indicated that there was no liability from either dealer or manufacturer. My concerns is simple. . . . How can the design of the fuel system allow the tank to collapse at all? my case resulted in pump hardware damange, but it seem very plausible that fuel tank damage or failure is very possible, potentially leading to spilled fuel and fire.

5 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2006 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/01/2007

The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. While driving at various speeds, the contact hears a thumping noise. The dealer stated that the solenoid needs to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 43,000.

6 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2002 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/14/2004

Electrical: at 306 miles the solenoids had to be replaced. Upon shutting the vehicle off; the dash board would still illuminate. Also, upon shutting the vehicle off it would continue to run. This has happened a total of four times. The transmission completely failed with no warning. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, and was told the windshield had a leak which corroded the electrical system. The electrical problems started at 44000 miles. The gasket had to be replaced, and the harness wiring had to be replaced also. Upon trying to start the vehicle again the battery would be completely dead. Please provide any further information.

8 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2000 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/31/1999

My 2000 Ford F-150 that I bought new has recalls and I was never notified by Ford. But they glady took my money every month. Now that we have Fords burning houses down I wonder how many owners know about that!.
