Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the electric power steering malfunctioned. When the contact started the vehicle, he noticed that the steering wheel was tight. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated that the entire steering rack needed to be replaced. Sheehy Ford Lincoln of richmond (10601 midlothian turnpike, richmond, va 23235, (804) 794-0500) was contacted and advised the contact to call NHTSA. The dealer did not look up the VIN. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 97,805.

I was turning my 2011 f150 around in a lot when a steering error warning poped up on dash along with a stability control error. Steering froze and I did not have steering control. Took all effort to force vehicle to turn and avoid a collision steering was extremely hard to turn with a loud buzzing noise and limited turning range (about 2/3 of normal range left and right. Drove home this way (about 15 miles). Was extremely difficult to control vehicle and very nerve racking. Being a mechanic I scanned codes and it appears that the electronic steering gear failed. This is a very dangerous system I shudder when I think of the consequences had I been driving at highway speed. If there is not a recall for this issue there should be before someone is killed. I included the scanned codes below.
The power steering stopped providing power assist consistently and it is intermittent. The steering wheel feels sticky and hard to turn. There is no hydraulic system to check fluids on and I believe that there is no serviceable components of this steering system. This vehicle has relativity low mileage (>50k) and driven on paved roads. This was noticed while driving taking a turn and is present on highway and city driving.
Steering effort is hard then easy then hard as steering is turned. Hard to turn when parking. Steering shaft u joint is bad.

My 2011 Ford F-150 ecoboost steering is sticking pretty bad when I make a left turn. It varies between a gradual left turn to a sharp 90 degree turn, but I always have to "pull" it back to the right to straighten the vehicle out. It seems very scary when you meet a semi and the steering sticks and I'm afraid of over correcting the vehicle. I had a close call the other morning so I parked it to avoid any future mishaps.
Tl - the contact owns a 2012 Ford f150. The contact stated while driving 70 mph with the cruise control on and the power steering failed and was very hard to steer and then the electronic power steering failure warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer joe machens Ford Lincoln 1911 west woley street, columbia, mi 65206 to be diagnosed but it had not been done yet and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified via chat and informed the contact to notify NHTSA of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000. Jc.
Takata recall my steering is hard to turn in park in street or in motion on a highway.
I was driving my 2015 Ford f150 when the power steering failed. I was driving on a curved road when the failure occurred, and I almost lost control of the vehicle. The code, "steering assist fault, service required" appeared. Days before, the steering felt tight. I had also been experiencing issues with the wiper blades turning on, and failing to turn off. I am the original owner of the truck, purchased it two years ago (almost to the day), and it currently has less than 38,000 miles. Ford will not honor the warranty because the dealership could not get the truck in for service until after it rolled over 36,000 miles. Luckily, I am an experienced driver with a commercial license or the complete steering failure would have resulted in an accident and damage to the vehicle and bodily injury.

Power steering assist default this message comes up and power steering is gone. The local repair shop gets a code the says "steering angle sensor" the vehicle is drivable at speeds of 45 mph but is very difficult to control at low speeds. The steering is jerky and hard to turn. Steering makes a lot of racket especially on sharp turns. After sharp turns like when parking this message comes up - "service advance track" then the turn signals have to be manually held on. The turn signal switch has already been replaced.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the steering wheel was hard to turn and a warning displayed on the panel that read ¿service advance trap". The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was not able to diagnose the failure. In addition, the contact stated that when attempting to pass another vehicle, the accelerator pedal was activated and there was loss of acceleration as the check engine light flashed on and off. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
Was driving on the highway went to change lanes and steering felt really tight could barely turn the steering wheel. Pulled over and checked it out steering fluid was good. Was really hard to steer and made it hm. Checked out forum and decided to spray wd40 on turn buckles on sreering shaft it started turning easy again. Will see if it last. Have a friend who works for the city as a mechanic and they said Ford sent people in to change all the crown vics steering shaft so they know it is an issue. They need to fix all of the vehicles with the problem.

The truck steering column was hard to turn. Clunking and sticking points were noted during turning. Found lower steering shaft u-joint in engine compartment seized. This coincides with latest Ford recall for 2005 - 2011 Ford cars. This was diagnosed as "frozen" by Ford and replaced on 06/17/13. This recall should be expanded to include Ford F-150 series trucks. The repair cost $460. 00. I thought this should have not happen being only 5 years old. Another issue with truck was a split in the radiator (main core. ) while driving , my family noticed the smell of glycol. The radiator was leaking (streaming)in the middle of radiator core. Ford replaced the radiator at a cost of $820. 83 on 08/05/13. There was no impact damage to radiator. It was diagnosed as leaking.
Occasionally when steering the truck to the left, the steering will feel like it is sticking. It becomes hard to turn to the left and when the turn is complete, the vehicle will not return to center. On one occasion when I first started the truck and began to back out of a parking place, I could not turn the steering wheel to the left at all. I shut the truck off then restarted and the same thing. On the second time I shut the truck off then restarted, I could turn the wheel normally. There seems to be a problem with the power steering or some mechanism of the steering.
While driving, steering is tight and vehicle is radically pulling to the right without warning, the dealer has replaced the gear assembly three times, steering pump assembly and now consumer is awaiting a new factory steering gear, consumer also states that the original pump assembly and original steering gear have become weak/soft/sagged.
